AMAC joins others opposing a proposed rule that would prohibit pregnancy centers and alternative-to-abortion programs from receiving millions of dollars a year while directing that same funding to Planned Parenthoods and other abortion centers favored by the Biden Administration.

Dear House Republicans:

When you return from recess, you will be in session for just two days before parts of the federal government begin shutting down. As the top-line number of $1.7 trillion is now  set, the real appropriations battle begins over so-called appropriations “riders,” including one on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

We, as leaders of the pro-life movement, request that you defund the rulemaking process for the Biden Administration’s proposed rule “Strengthening TANF as a Safety Net and Work Program.” This proposed rule (88 FR 67697) would prohibit pregnancy centers and alternative-to-abortion programs from receiving millions of dollars a year in TANF funding while directing that same funding to Planned Parenthoods and other abortion centers favored by the Biden Administration.

Late last year, a bicameral Republican coalition of 11 Senators and 19 Representatives sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra urging him to immediately withdraw the rule.

Depriving pregnancy resource centers of funds is just another example of the Biden Administrations’ war on life. The needless targeting of pro-life centers will only hurt women and children, when they are at their most vulnerable.

We certainly understand the current political reality in Washington, but by defunding this rulemaking process, you can deliver a win for women and children across America. We strongly encourage you to defund the rulemaking process for the proposed rule “Strengthening TANF as a Safety Net and Work Program” in upcoming appropriations bills.

Thank you,

Bob Carlstrom
President

I didn’t agree to funding abortions with my tax dollars. I am pro life, therefore, I should have a choice where my tax dollars go to fund.
