AMAC Fights to Protect Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms

AMAC resolutely believes in the US Constitution as the supreme law of the land, a timeless and ultimate guide to the conduct and course of our nation under God. We vehemently support the protection of our right to bear arms.

Dear Representative Cloud,

On behalf of the over 2.2 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 5,400 members in TX-27, I write to offer our support for H.R.5561, a bill “Protecting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms,” which you and 38 cosponsors introduced. We fully support the purpose of the bill, “To prohibit the President and the Secretary of Health and Human Services from declaring certain emergencies or disasters for the purpose of imposing gun control.

A steady assault on the right to keep and bear arms, a critical right based on the natural right to life and the equally natural right to defend it, has been prevalent at the highest level of the liberal / progressive movement since it began, and more so since 1968. With every infringement against the Second Amendment, our right and ability as Americans to protect our lives and property from tyranny is eroded. The most recent significant example of abuse against the citizenry of our nation, and specifically against the people of New Mexico, came in the form of an edict from Governor Grisham through the Department of Health effectively suspending the Second Amendment in correlation to a declared “public health emergency.” The unlawful, though time and geography limited, order requiring that “No person, other than a law enforcement officer, or licensed security officer, or active-duty military personnel shall possess a firearm…” looks very like disarming the citizenry; and that has never worked out well for the people of nations in the past.

We the people of AMAC strongly support the protection of all our Constitutional rights. We recognize that the Second Amendment needs no elaboration, or amplification, in that it is very clear that the right to bear arms “shall not be infringed.” But we also understand that elements of our government will take any opportunity they have to stand against the Constitution, and in this case to stand against the Second Amendment. The “Protecting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Act of 2023” is the very embodiment in letters of the call to support and defend the Constitution. Not only does this legislation propose to limit the Executive, the President of the United States, from exploiting an emergency and alienating our inalienable right to keep and bear arms, but it limits the Secretary of Health and Human Services from implementing medical tyranny for the same reason. The Second Amendment does not contemplate by any language that our rights should ever be canceled for an emergency of any kind. Tyranny and criminals do not sleep during emergencies, and nor should the people abdicate their right to self-defense.
