Weekly Update

Citizen Advocacy Matters

Your voice matters. You can make a difference.

Be encouraged and engage in issues when and where you can. A phone call, an email, attendance at local town meetings, and other countless actions combine with the efforts of other conservatives to mobilize a mighty voice.

Learn about issues, educate yourself, and be able to articulate calmly and intelligently what you believe. Some of our most important work is spreading the word to fellow citizens.

Citizen involvement is the lifeblood of a constitutional republic!

Calls-to-Action

AMAC Action needs your help! Contact your U.S. Representative and tell him or her to cosponsor the PATIENT ACT!

H.R. 3561, PATIENT Act of 2023, codifies federal hospital and health insurance price transparency rules into law, making them more durable and actionable for healthcare consumers. It will make these price transparency rules, which have been plagued by low compliance, a reality for American patients by:

  • Boosting the hospital noncompliance penalty from just over $1 million per year to $5 million.
  • Naming and shaming the hospitals and health insurers that aren’t complying.
  • Requiring Health and Human Services to issue clear data disclosure standards to make price comparisons possible.
  • Eliminating price estimates that don’t protect patients from overcharging and prevent comparison shopping.

Bipartisan legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives can fix the broken U.S. healthcare system by empowering healthcare consumers with actual, upfront prices. Regardless of whether your congressman is a Republican or a Democrat, contact them and let them know that this legislation should be supported!

Western Conservative Summit

Last week Western Conservative Summit 2023 convened in Denver, Colorado. Organized by the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University, “the purpose of this summit is to motivate those conservative activists who are in the trenches, to convene and network together, and to educate on key issues, both equipping volunteers as well as training a new younger generation of conservatives.”

This year’s theme was “Western Strong”, selected to highlight the importance of the great Western tradition – from the foundational principles of Western civilization to the rugged individualism that characterizes the American West.

AMAC Action President Bob Carlstrom was a keynote speaker along with think tank policy analysts, state, and federal officeholders, and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Larry Elder. Other speakers included Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, and new to the conservative movement rock star Riley Gaines, the NCAA swimmer on a crusade to save women’s sports and the privacy of the female locker room.

This group of speakers and attendees was truly a gathering of conservative citizens who are actively engaged to make a difference throughout their communities and our nation.

Quote of the Week

“The framers [of the Constitution] also knew that with a republic comes responsibility. Self-government is a hard business and republics have a checkered record in the court of history: Often they flicker brightly only to dim quickly. To succeed where so many others had failed, the framers understood that our republic needs citizens who know how their government works—and who are capable of, and interested in, participating in its administration… This republic belongs to us all—and it is up to all of us to keep it.”

– Justice Neil Gorsuch, associate justice

Supreme Court of the United States

Author of A Republic, If You Can Keep It
