On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, and our more than 2 million members, I am writing to express our strong support for the Modern Employment Reform, Improvement, and Transformation (MERIT) Act. This legislation represents a critical step towards improving accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness within our federal workforce—ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely and federal employees are held to reasonable standards.
Many of our members, after decades of hard work and paying taxes, now depend on programs like Social Security and other services for their health, financial stability, and overall well-being. When inefficiencies and waste undermine these services, it directly affects their quality of life. The MERIT Act ensures that these programs are supported by a federal workforce held to the highest standards, improving accountability and responsiveness while safeguarding whistleblowers and rewarding dedicated public servants.
These reforms not only ensure better use of taxpayer funds but also create a more reliable government for seniors and all Americans. Restoring public trust in government operations requires an effective and efficient workforce, and the MERIT Act provides the tools needed to achieve this goal.
We commend your leadership in introducing this legislation and urge Congress to prioritize its passage. Thank you for your dedication to improving the efficiency of our government and safeguarding essential promises to America’s seniors.
