AMAC Action’s week in review

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, take a pause to remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States military. Honor their sacrifices so that we might be free. And remind yourself that protecting and preserving this great nation “requires the constant attention and devotion of all its citizens.” – Dr. Richard Beeman (1942 – 2016), professor of history, University of Pennsylvania

Get educated, find ways to get involved in your local community, and speak out!

Chapter Meetings

In GA-03, the county solid waste director spoke to chapter members and they learned about solid waste, recycling, landfills, and what happened when China stopped taking our stuff for recycling. The TX-32 chapter held a round table discussion regarding the Texas Speaker of the House and whether Texans have a right to recall elected politicians. IL-16 chapter members learned more about Illinois electric rates and 2nd Amendment issues within the state.

Calls-to-Action

This week a call-to-action went out for the State of Michigan. If you are a resident of Michigan we are asking that you let your state representative know that you OPPOSE Michigan HB 4210 and HB 4413. HB 4210 could compromise the security and integrity of Michigan’s elections and HB 4413 proposes to allow the use of campaign funds to pay for a candidate’s personal expenses.

Calls-to-action are still active for JP Morgan Chase, the HEALTH Act, the gold-backed digital security bills in the Texas House and Senate, and the Iowa Senate bill which combats ESG.

Update on Calls-to-Action

Illinois

Ranked choice voting was STOPPED in Illinois!

A message from AMAC Action Senior Vice President Andy Mangione:

“Those 254,000+ messages were heard as our members’ efforts in Illinois helped STOP ranked-choice voting this legislative session. We fully expect this battle to continue as the legislature did approve the establishment of a task force to study it.

We will persevere and we will be ready for the fight!”

Illinois Statewide Election Integrity Summit

AMAC members in Illinois helped to sell out an Election Integrity Summit held near Chicago on May 20th. Attendees learned how to develop a local election integrity team and connected with statewide and national networks to advance election integrity goals. Speakers at the event included Ken Cuccinelli, National Chairman, Election Transparency Initiative.

Montana

AMAC members in Montana voiced their opposition to ranked-choice voting and helped get a bill preventing this election process through the state Senate, which was recently signed into law.

Quote of the Week

“It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country, in defense of us, in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our minds as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray-haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives — the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers, and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember.”

– President Ronald Reagan

I live in Indianapolis Indiana
Do we have a chapter here? We have had a Democrat Mayor for the last 8 years in this wonderful red state. It’s time to replace him and our county (Marion) needs serious help!
