In what can only be described as an urgent alert to parents, families, and those who care about the importance of parental rights, Maine is in the process of trying to pass an extremist bill making the state a “sanctuary state” for so-called “transgender” minors whose parents are not handling their child’s mental health issues in a way the left approves. No one wants this catastrophe but that doesn’t stop those obsessed with control over our children.
Maine’s LD 1735 bill, euphemistically-titled, “Act to Safeguard Gender Affirming Health Care,” is in reality a bill that is using children as an excuse to legitimize the state taking custody of children because parents do not bend the knee to leftist ideology. Like all other deeply personal issues, the left’s Identity Politics strategy has co-opted the transgender issue and morphed it into a political ideology with which to manipulate the public into acquiescing to far-left policy to advance its noxious totalitarian anti-freedom agenda.
Last week, after significant backlash about the bill, and a motion to dismiss it tied 5-5, Maine’s Judiciary Committee decided to delay further discussion about the bill until Thursday, January 25th. Advocates are using this time make sure everyone knows exactly what is at stake, and encouraging reaching out to Maine lawmakers. Rep State Rep. Katrina J. Smith appeared on Fox & Friends sounding the alarm.
Referred to as the “Transgender Trafficking” bill by some Mainers, its supporters claim the bill will help “protect” minors who can’t obtain sex-change surgeries or drugs because a parent opposes it. The Maine Wire reports, “LD 1735, if passed, would grant Maine temporary emergency jurisdiction over minors from other states who are unable to access gender-affirming health care due to parental or guardian opposition. This includes a range of procedures from the use of breast binders to irreversible drugs and surgeries like mastectomies and castration.”
This seems impossible, certainly too crazy to be real. But it’s true, and they’re not even trying to hide it. The official summary of the bill states in part: “The bill prohibits a court from considering the taking or retention of a child from a person who has legal custody [this is called kidnapping] of the child if the taking or retention [kidnapping] was for obtaining gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care for the child.” In other words, go ahead and kidnap the kid and transport them across state lines if it’s about a leftist sex identity fetish. And potentially involves physical mutilation of a child. Really, you can’t make this up.
Additionally, law enforcement is prohibited from acting on an out-of-state arrest warrant against a person who has trafficked a child into Maine for so-called “transgender care,” and it blocks police from reuniting a child with their parents.
The official summary also states openly what I contend is the crux of this obscenity: “The bill authorizes a court to take temporary jurisdiction [this means taking custody of the child] because a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming health care or gender-affirming mental health care for the child.”
For several generations, we have been hectored, lectured, goaded, and threatened by the left to jump through rhetorical and other language hoops to prove our decency and kindness. We have been indoctrinated to believe that the settled default position is that Americans are racist, sexist, and homophobes (and now transphobes).
Now we are at their endgame: To prove we are not bigots, we must sit in silence as the wolves come for our children. And that is the test. If they can convince Americans that we are “irredeemable” barbaric fiends, they will openly take our children (literally) or order us to hand them over, because only the Bureaucratic State knows best.
There are two answers to that: No and Hell No! Even Europe is beginning to reject the extremist view of transgender children “care,” with Forbes reporting, “Across Europe there has been a gradual shift from care which prioritizes access to pharmaceutical and surgical interventions, to a less medicalized and more conservative approach that addresses possible psychiatric comorbidities and explores the developmental etiology of trans identity.” Indeed.
Many of you may not know that I was an organizer for the left during the 1990s. I can tell you that nothing they do has anything to do with helping people, or saving women and children, or making things better for the disenfranchised. Everything they do is to gain power. And the only way to stay in power is to control the minds of the next generation. Parents are the fundamental enemy of the left because pesky parents interfere with the efforts of strangers to take control of their children. Go figure.
Make no mistake, the title “Act to Safeguard Gender Affirming Health Care,” is meant as a distraction, just as is their vile attempts to normalize children and sex. While we appropriately focus on the fate of children, the bill sets many shocking precedents, a veritable leftist fantasy wish list, impacting everyone’s lives eventually on every issue:
It enshrines leftist ideology—using the propaganda of transgender children ideology – into law, as though there is no debate and the “transgender children” fever is settled science, and not just putrid leftist politics. Ergo…
It enshrines into law that parents who raise their children with other than leftist ideology are abusers, (i.e., if you refuse transgender “care” for your child, it is “abuse.” This issue is the key that unlocks the door to condemn parents who are deemed political opposition as abusers because of their faith or politics). Ergo…
It enshrines into law that the state can take “jurisdiction” [custody] of the children of parents who “abuse” them by having opinions and values that contradict and threaten the leftist agenda.
All of that is true only if you passively accept it. If parents can be convinced or harassed or threatened or legislated into surrendering their children to the state, all is lost. Nothing else matters. It is the moment the left dreams of—if you are willing to do that, you will give up all freedom. The problem for the left is they constantly underestimate the American people. Let’s show them again who’s in charge of this country, and that American traditions and values are worth fighting for. And make no mistake—we will.
To truly experience the physical change of transgender treatment, I suggest the politicians and supporters of this power grab face mastectomy or castration before forcing it upon somebody else’s child.
There are principles codified in the Declaration of Independence and language that states when a government becomes tyrannical it is the duty of the citizens to throw off & abolish it and form new government. The Declaration also cautions folks not to act for light and transient causes, however, there are some things that are worth fighting for.
Family is one of them. When the State targets my family, children and grand children, it’s time to push back and fight with the veracity of a rabid pit bull regardless of what asinine legislation they pass.

I was a tomboy when
I was a child, and I even had some gender disphoria (spelling?). I wanted really badly to be a boy. I even tried to think of a way to make myself a boy. But as I grew into my teen years, this completely disappeared, and I was very happy with being a girl. How I thank God, with all my heart, that there were no transgender advocate creeps around in those days!!! I married at the age of twenty and went on to bear 5 children, and I have never, ever wished I were a man!!!
Children need to be let alone until they are adults and can make reasoned, rather than emotionally-driven, decisions about such important and life-altering decisions.

I live in Iowa…a state of normal people, a conservative and fiscally responsible governor and school systems that try their best to protect minors from the insidious left and their insane ideas. We may have snow, we may not be the most exciting place to live but we will welome anyone who wants to move to a state that actually loves families, parents and the protection of little children. Clean air; friendly people; a lower-than-average cost of living and lots of work for skilled men and women. What’s not to love?

I think it is nuts and haven’t heard what happens to children who don’t want to return to their parents. Maine can’t force anything on them if they don’t live in Maine.
My daughter, son-in-law and grandson just moved to Maine last July. They visited often before deciding to move there from Colorado and felt it was a safe, pristine environment in which to raise their son. My grandson is six and thankfully his parents are homeschooling him, but it looks like in Maine they are going to have to keep him off the radar totally and that would include doctor’s visits since doctors seem to be bought and paid for when it involves the transgender agenda. We do not share the same beliefs on many things, especially political and social, for the most part and it’s hard for me to communicate anything I find that might go against their often-misguided beliefs (they voted for Obama twice and always vote Democrat, due diligence is not their strong suit) so my telling them what’s going on in their state will probably fall on deaf ears.
