AMAC Exclusive – By Barry Casselman

As has so often been the case in recent media political forecasting, new Republican Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is proving predictions of weakness and failure in his leading the small House majority to be off the mark.

After the protracted four-day, fifteen-ballot ordeal to win the speakership, the establishment media, parroting the Democratic caucus minority, proclaimed that McCarthy faced constant tumult in managing his GOP caucus, and in fulfilling the deals he made with insurgent conservative members who demanded he commit to a more transparent rules reform and a more confrontational approach to Biden administration proposals and policies.

In the first days of his stewardship, however, McCarthy has followed through impressively by enacting many of the reforms, and has done so with a hard-hitting articulate energy that his detractors, both to his left and right, didn’t think he had.

A recent exchange with a hostile liberal reporter on his decision to bar Democratic Congressmen Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from sitting on the House intelligence Committee, a video of which went quickly viral, drew lavish praise from even some of his harshest GOP critics.

McCarthy has also made several changes in House rules and procedures, including ending proxy voting by members not willing to be present, allowing amendments to be made on the floor, opening sessions to the public (curtailed by previous Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi), and appointing several of his insurgent colleagues to key committees and chairmanships, including investigative and oversight committees that will now examine many Biden administration activities over the past two years. Articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas were filed.

A major issue for McCarthy opponents, resisting a vote to raise the national debt limit, was also predicted by most in the media to be a major stumbling block for Speaker McCarthy. It was assumed that failure to agree to this legislation would not only in effect shut down the government, but be, as it has been in the recent past, very unpopular with voters and backfire on the Republicans. McCarthy had committed to obtaining spending reduction concessions from President Joe Biden, but the president has refused to do so.

A new poll by the respected and usually accurate Rasmussen Reports organization, however, indicates there has been a sea change in public opinion on the subject of the national debt — with a significant majority of 56% even favoring a government shutdown in order to reduce federal spending and the national debt. Federal officials say they can put off requiring a debt limit vote until June. Mr. McCarthy’s hand in his confrontation with the president, however, has now been noticeably strengthened, and this potential sore point within his caucus reduced.

In spite of his surprising early success, however, Speaker McCarthy is likely to face challenges with his members in the weeks ahead. The 25-30 members of the more conservative Freedom Caucus will continue to use their leverage to press for more confrontation with the Democratic agenda.

President Biden, who enjoyed a brief post-midterm election surge in the polls, has seen his favorable poll numbers sink again in the wake of disclosures that he took classified documents home when he was vice president. He is now even being criticized by leaders in his own party, and efforts to prevent him from running for re-election have been renewed by many Democrats. Mr. Biden also no longer enjoys control of both houses of Congress.

Even after the narrow loss of the House, Biden’s expectation that the Republican opposition there would be weak and ineffectual under Speaker McCarthy is so far not occurring.

Despite the jeers of Democrats, led by Hakeem Jeffries, and the predictably sympathetic media expectations, the new Speaker seems to be reveling in his confrontations with the liberals and their agenda, and he appears to be building new support within his own fractious caucus as the next election cycle approaches.

Wow! I like McCarthy already. Great move to not allow Schiff and Swalwell on the House Intelligence Committee. With their ties to the CCP? Come on, man! And he’s actually filing for impeachment of Mayorkas?. It’s about time! What was Pelosi to hiding when she closed Congressional sessions to the public? And Biden’s (or the one pulling the strings) refusal to make concessions regarding spending reductions is no surprise. But it looks like things are fnally looking up!

McCarthy is looking to potentially be promising but he is still part of the Establishment as demonstrated when he gave away his trump card by saying there would be no default. And he has not yet got the problem children off critical committees, Nancy had no problem staking the deck when she ran the House.
Time will tell if he really can pull off some of the big promises, like THE FAIR TAX.

Republicans seem to run out of gas very quickly and then coast to a position of lethargy. What about Omar? Vote her off her committee now! What about Mayorkas? Impeach him now! Forget about weekends off. Forget about vacations and Holidays off. Forget about mummy and daddy lactation and parental leaves. Punish those that have injured and damaged the USA remorselessly. Is McCarthy up to it? “There will not be a default!”. I heard it; did Biden hear it?

McCarthy needs to be absolutely truthful with the American people! He needs to ferret out corruption on both sides of the aisle, and publicly reveal i! The American people have had enough of these inept criminals who have been “leading” us, and start investigating, publicly, the Biden Family Crime Cartel, one of the biggest threats to our Country today!

The Federal Debt is major problem, and does this mean that McCarthey & Republican party are willing to stop spending borrowed money & start paying down our debt. What is status of Trump tax cuts that were estimated to amount to $1 trillion per year in less taxes? Is it true this cannot be stopped cuz Trump made cuts good to year 2025?

McCarthy is what we call a Republican in name only, meaning a conservative in name only.

It’s easy to predict his words and posturing will be tough against Democrats. The tough act is to get conservatives thinking establishment Republicans are defending conservative values.

Then, when the chips are down, fake conservatives like McCarthy stab us in the back.

The talk is only to win our votes. That’s why conservatives turn out in droves for Trump. Finally, we’ve got a guy who walks the walk that goes with the talk.

Have you seen an old police drama with the good cop and the bad cop? The Freedom Caucus is the bad cop. Kevin McCarthy is the good cop. The Freedom Caucus reforms have made McCarthy more powerful not less. “Hey Mitch and Joe, I would love to cut a deal, but Freedom Caucus guys have my hands tied and I need more.”

McCarthy has been excellent and energetic. The Democrats are pathetic destroyers of The Constitution and are being called out. Their corruption is the worst I have ever seen. They embrace immorality in all forms without limits. They are like drug addicted and spoiled teenagers. It is SPANKING time.

McCarthy needs to send an investigative committee with teeth after Biden to investigate his fiascoes over the last two years on all levels and not a stupid circus act like they did with the January 6 committee. Also, hold true on the debt ceiling and work towards debt reduction and balancing the budget.

I had suspended all my donations to the Republican Congressional committee, but in light of Speaker McCarthy’s change to the American Freedom wing and standing up against the corruption and tyranny of the democratic socialist I will now resume my donations and rejoin the party.

Please get rid of Omar and Schiff and Swalwell, they are poison. If you can’t get rid of them, you are just as bad as they are and they are the worst.

To Omar: “What goes around comes around.”
When Dems exclude people from Committee assignments it’s about Dems being in charge. When Republicans do it it’s racism. All that has happened is that the Speaker of the house ousted a racist.
