AMAC Exclusive – By Seamus Brennan
After two years of radicalism and failed policies under unified Democrat control in Washington, the American people are ready and eager for change. As the nation prepares for the commencement of the new Congress on January 3, here are five urgent priorities for House Republicans.
End the Border Catastrophe
Though most GOP Congressional candidates rightly elevated the border crisis as a top campaign issue during the election cycle, that rhetoric means nothing if it is not followed by concrete, meaningful action. In 2021 alone, U.S. Border Patrol encountered nearly two million illegal aliens—the most in recorded history. Between April and August of 2021, illegal border encounters rose by 945 percent, 674 percent, 471 percent, 413 percent, and 319 percent, respectively, compared to the same months in 2020.
Some solutions to the border predicament are obvious—like reinstating Trump-era policies such as Remain in Mexico, asylum reform, and expedited deportations. But the new House GOP must be willing to take it a step further. They must, for instance, be willing to shut down the U.S. government and freeze the federal budget until border security measures are included. Come January, Republicans in Congress should also be prepared to block any component of the Biden legislative agenda from passing without first forcing the White House to address the border catastrophe.
These measures represent the bare minimum of what the GOP should do in the next Congress—and what they must do to prove they’re serious about securing the border.
Get to the Bottom of What Really Happened on January 6
For much of this year, House Democrats have flooded the airwaves with false narratives surrounding the events of January 6, 2021. Using the pulpit of primetime TV to not-so-subtly smear half the country as violent insurrectionists, the January 6 Committee politicized the investigative process and transgressed the traditional roles ascribed to congressional committees.
Fortunately, some Republicans have already discussed the prospect of investigating the Committee itself—and issuing subpoenas to Republican members of the Committee like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger—when the next Congress arrives in Washington. House Republicans must not only follow through on investigating the Committee, but should also not hesitate to promote their own hearings just as vigorously as House Democrats did earlier this year.
Moreover, House Republicans must promptly address each of the pressing questions the January 6 Committee refused to investigate—including the role of covert federal agents in participating in and potentially even helping to instigate the event, the lapse in Capitol security protocols, why the Committee never mentioned the attempted pipe bombings of the DNC and RNC, and the cruel and unusual treatment of January 6 prisoners.
Under GOP leadership, the nation deserves to finally learn the real story of what precipitated the January 6 riots.
Expose the Depths of the “Misinformation” Apparatus
Just weeks ago, the Foundation for Freedom Online published a report detailing that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) actively worked in the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election to “pre-censor” all speech that “cast doubt” on any public perception of illegitimacy surrounding the apparent “red mirage, blue shift” scenario, in which Democrats would appear to lose on election night, but then win the day after. The report found that as a consequence of DHS’s censorship campaign, nearly 22 million tweets were labeled as “misinformation” on Twitter, 859 million tweets were collected for “misinformation” analysis, and hundreds of social media posts were “impacted” by “‘misinformation’ Terms of Service policy changes.”
One of the foremost priorities of the GOP House majority must be to investigate and expose the magnitude of the censorship of American citizens by federal bureaucrats—not only on information regarding the 2020 election, but also on COVID-19, immigration, foreign policy, and any other area the censorship regime might have interest in regulating.
Investigate the Mar-a-Lago Raid
For many Americans, this summer’s raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate served as a “crossing the Rubicon” moment that reveals the disturbing extent to which the progressive ruling class will go to harm its political adversaries and solidify its power in the public square. With the clear lack of any solid legal basis for the raid (as well as the fact that the left has been targeting Trump with bogus investigations from the very moment he entered the political landscape in 2015), Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Biden administration have demonstrated that they see the federal government as a weapon with which to punish their political opponents.
With the November appointment of a special counsel to investigate Trump—who is now a declared presidential candidate for 2024 and Joe Biden’s chief political rival—the House GOP must take swift action to get to the bottom of why the raid on Mar-a-Lago took place. They also have a responsibility to expose and resist any attempt by Biden’s highly politicized Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch more politically-motivated persecutions against the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Impeach Mayorkas, Garland
Following Democrats’ cheapening of the impeachment process during Donald Trump’s first term, House Republicans have every reason to target top-level officials in the Biden administration—particularly those who have deliberately violated the constitutional oaths they swore. Among the GOP’s top targets should be DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who has overseen the worst border crisis in recorded history, and Attorney General Merrick Garland, who has used the DOJ to target Democrats’ political opponents—as well as ordinary Americans.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has already publicly flirted with the idea of filing articles of impeachment against Mayorkas—but he should by no means stop there. In addition to overseeing and signing off on the Mar-a-Lago raid, in 2021, Garland issued an alarming memorandum at the behest of national teachers’ unions indicating that he was prepared to use the power of the DOJ to spy on, intimidate, and ultimately silence parents who spoke out at school board meetings. Last fall, a DOJ whistleblower revealed that Garland went so far as to use counterterrorism “threat tags” against these parents. If actions like these from our nation’s top law enforcement official fail to warrant an impeachment inquiry, few other actions could—and Republicans must unhesitatingly hold his feet to the fire.
For far too long, elements of the Republican establishment have paid lip service to the issues their constituents most care about, only to sit on their hands and neglect any meaningful action once they arrive in Washington. In order to lay the groundwork for a successful general election cycle in 2024, the GOP must prove that it is capable not only of winning congressional power, but also wielding it.
No 1:
Unite on Issues
Merge on like Issues
ID RINOs
Or Lose
Of the 5 items specified in the article, the House can realistically only do Items 2, 3 and 4 to the degree the Executive Branch doesn’t stonewall you at every single step throughout the process. Just like they have in the past. Both Items 1 and 5 will NEVER happen.
Item 1 requires the Executive Branch, meaning the current POTUS, to change course. Which is NOT likely under any circumstances. The open border policy is working EXACTLY as the Democrats envisioned, so why on earth would they want to change it? I also don’t think McCarthy has the spine to put the type of border control language discussed in this article into virtually every single piece of must-pass legislation the House has to pass over the next 2 years to keep the federal government funded and operational. That is NOT who he is and history has shown that to be the case.
Item 5 is also all bluster and no substance with McCarthy in charge of the House. Sure the House can technically impeach Mayorkas in the House, but a Democrat controlled Senate will never vote to convict and remove Mayorkas from his position. Even if by some magical alignment of the stars the Democrats in the Senate play along and throw Mayorkas under the bus for executing Team Biden’s open border policies exactly as directed, the WH would just nominate another useful puppet to head up DHS and the Democrat controlled Senate would approve the nomination. Bottom line, you technically could change the face of the person executing the Democrat agenda of open borders to flood the country with ultimately tens of millions more illegals to permanently change the voting demographics of the country, but the policy itself would remain unchanged. Which is all that counts.
So all in all, another wish list article of what should be done by House Republicans when they take office in January of next year. I expect we’ll see lots more of these type articles in the next month or so, as they are easy to write and require little research.
Impeach biden also for failing to uphold our laws. Reas Article II of our Constitution.
While news media, DNC and CCP retain a strangle-hold on election protocol in North America nothing will change for the American taxpayer. That, and while gullible, targeted female voters can’t seem to get past their ‘feelings’ and get their heads out of their vaginas regarding abortion ‘rights’, the electoral landscape will not change. Liberals, progressives and/or democrats won’t have to cheat much to maintain their grip on the treasury. The only way to beat the swamp is to cheat better than it does. That’s what it comes to.
Thank you AMAC. This is so true. GOP must investigate all of this and not let the government get away with censoring and using DOJ as a weapon against Americans who disagree with their policies!!!
The Republican house majority had better act on these and not just be paying lip service or they will see a massive loss of support. We are tired of talk and the democrats kicking your a**es.
We need to over hall not only the DOJ but also the FBI. What a disgrace those two have been to the USA. We’re currently the laughing stock of the world.
PLEASE SAVE THE USA!!!
Those are worthwhile priorities. I sincerely wish our elected “Leaders” would stop whining and get to work for real instead of glad handling their constituent and making excuses for inaction.
Repubs wiII spend a Iot of time doing absolutely nothing.
The House GOP must forget about political appearances and proceed with each of the above. The primary focus must be the weaponization of Federal Agencies against anyone not in lockstep with the Communists and that must be hammered home no matter what. I’d add two additional priorities: 1) China Select Committee and 2) Afghanistan debacle by Brandon and the Willy-Milley, (Ex) Austin and Winken Blinken. The focus there must be to identify the root cause of the Intel failure and the willful negligence of the Brandon idiots. GOP can’t be afraid to shut down the gunnery and have to prep the public up front or at least but signal what heheh plan on doing. Fortune favors the bold and while the GOO establishment surely hasn’t been anything close to bold, they have to start NOW.
I would like to say Republicans will do something. But they won’t. they have had 30 years to get hilterly but haven’t done anything. But go after trump. They have 2 years to change or the party will die. If the rhinos win the party will be gone
Congressional investigations are waste of energy as they appear partisan and so nothing happens. Just riles up respective bases so leads to more division in country.
Impeachments should be for serious issues, not just policy disagreements. Those men are doing what their boss wants.
I would like an investigation to determine if Biden has been compromised by Ukraine and China leaders based on Biden’s alledged financial relationships with those countries.
The Dems are going to realize very shortly, that their relentless persecution of President Trump and his supporters is going to have dire consequences for them. The Biden regime weaponized the FBI and DOJ for political gain and it’s gonna come back and bite ’em…. Hard!
This will be the biggest waste of time imaginable what with inflation, energy and supply chain issues, rising interest rates, etc. causing enormous stress on consumers, i.e. constituents. These types of things will only be viewed as vengeful wastes of time and money and nothing will happen anyway. These are the types of things that too often make the GOP easy fodder for ridicule and for Democrats to be able to continue to steamroll the GOP at will, just like running over a speed bump.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but WHEN in your lifetime has Congress actually done anything about anything they have investigated? There is always a lot of tough talk, followed by hours of closed door hearings, but NOTHING, and I mean absolute NOTHING ever comes from these investigations.
The only thing that happens is a handful of our representatives walk away richer than when they started the hearings.
They couldn’t come together and support the only President in my lifetime that actually did what he said he would do. Now half the Republican party is falling in lockstep with the dem’s and are going against Trump, saying he would be a detriment to the party if he runs…BS!
Nobody wants him to run because their all too busy padding their pockets with taxpayers money. They know that if he should win again, the party is over for four more years, or until they can trump up more charges against him…no pun intended.
We’re in sad shape. I believe the only person that can help us now is God Almighty.
You forgot the most important priority of all; VOTE FRAUD. If the Congress can create ANY law regulating voting; (it has); then it can surely attempt to correct the worst crime in America’s history! This is the one single thing that, unaddressed, WILL destroy America
Get rid of rino’s, show some real leadership.
that looks like a letter to Santa Claus Better be realistic than overly hopefull
There is very little that the Republicans can get done, because they have a very slim majority in the House and Mitch McConnell did everything, he could make sure that the Republicans didn’t take over the Senate he was too busy helping get RINO’s elected and padding his own pocket and what did the Republican Senators do? They rewarded him by making him Majority leader again, that’s the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
The only thing the House will be able to do is stop Biden’s over-the-top spending (even for Dems). All else should be laser focused on winning back the Presidency and Senate in 2024. That could mean some bits of the above but the one thing they cannot do is turn the voters against the party (which history has shown is about the only thing shutting down the gov’t really accomplishes).
Those key House flips in CA and NY are not going to be voting for gov’t shutdowns as they know they’d lose their seats in 2024 if they did. If they lose their seats in 2024 then we probably lose the House as well as stay locked out of the Presidency and Senate.
We have to bide our time or we will lose it all. Patience is a virtue. If the red wave had materialized then you’d have an argument to make, but a slim, barely won majority in the House is not a mandate — don’t act like it is.
Republicans are great at shaking their fists and threatening the Democrats. In reality they will not do anything. They don’t really want to be in charge. They want Democrats to take the heat for the shape of the countries in and they want to keep their jobs and their fancy pensions. All they’re interested in is keeping their money. If you don’t believe me look back at when Republicans have the house the Senate and the presidency what did they do? Diddly squat.
Dream on, until we have term limits for congress, there is really nothing that can be done.
Hold the purse strings tight, If it effects only the congressmen’s area, it needs to fall back on the state. Federal money should not be spent on pork projects. Make the private sector raise funds for the arts in their own communities as an example.
Perhaps it would be expedient for the current Administration to realize that problems within the country; and around the world are accelerating. Trite standard neutral responses are not going to help the current dilemmas that are at ridiculous proportions. How can the Republican Party even get to first base when this Administration does not address the issues decisively? China ignores basic Human Rights that are intrinsic to all humanitarian decency. ‘Dullard Neutral Standard’ replies do NOT solve emergency situations. The Ukrainian people are suffering in the winter. NATO makes appropriate verbal concerns. Washington DC turns up their thermostat; and concerns itself with who is going to be speaker? Who is showing genuine concern for the problems that are besetting this planet? This Administration concerns itself with how to block all Republican efforts; instead of dealing with the China emergency problem, Ukrainian Humanitarian relief, Mexican Border problems, and a teetering economy. The teetering economy has strikes of all kinds besetting it. The current Administration told us that the whole problem had been solved weeks ago. Someone has to have the IQ to triage problems; just like in medicine. Clearly, none of these problems are being appropriately addressed whatsoever. Save some of the stereotype dullard comments; and let’s see some real action!
Stop pi$$ing away taxpayer money
RINOs destroyed the GOP! MAGA is the only way now!
What about the executive order for 87000 IRS agents McCarthy said would be his first priority to reverse.
How about the GUTLESS gop doing something about the damn STOLEN ELECTIONS? You hear “sabre rattling” from a handful of the useless idiots but nothing else. No more “mail-in voting” and the ballot harvesting. If this crap isn’t stopped, the republic is gone and the gop slacker RINOS are to blame.
I have lost faith in the GOP doing anything for us citizens. I stopped supporting the GOP when they didn’t take a stand with those imprisoned for being in DC to support their President on January sixth. They have been good at talking but that is it. How many have turned RINO? I can give names of GOP congressmen and women that go on TV and talk a good talk … then nothing happens. It is so sad that they keep getting voted into office. They are taxing us to our death. I do not believe in climate change and do not want my tax dollars to be used to help that cause. The only form of clean energy is Nuclear. Let industry solve our problems, not tax dollars given to universities that work to keep receiving grant dollars with no solutions. Oil is a source of energy and has many other uses that we can’t stop by the stroke of a pen, as was done. This is by far the dumbest thing I have ever seen done by any organization. This problem is common with the current Whitehouse idiots. I am eighty years old and have never seen so much corruption as there is in government today. It is pitting the rich against those that are not. I am an Army veteran and am eighty years old and will fight for my country. I believe we need to put common-sense people in government such as farmers. If the constitution can once again be our guide to give each of the citizens of the United States of America, our rights and freedom we will once again become the country our forefathers envisioned.
All the money voted for by the democrats, where is it??? Who has it and how much not distributed yet??? Go get it!!! Spending money by voteing is quick but it takes time to get it out there. How many briefcases of cash have been issued and accepted??? We may never know but I would really enjoy justice being the law of the land. Trump 2024
I am in agreement with AMAC’s agenda and priorities when Republicans take over in January and hope a lot more can be done.
I also share the frustration of the citizens who lost faith with Republicans who got nothing done.
But I am also somewhat of a realist and I realize that Bidum, Pelosi et al. had the power (numbers) to block Republicans on most every issue, Pelosi sets if, what, and when items will discussed.
The system is not very good if you are the minority party. But that will change in January!
But we will have to be very clever as the Dems are very devious.
We need to find out how much of the billions sent to the Ukraine was laundered and returned to the Democrat thieves. No more money to Ukraine! The leadership in Ukraine is just like our leadership in the US.
I like these 5 priorities. We should be thinking beyond these and further.
Great article. Now if they will only do it.
So instead Of the democrats sitting in committee meetings collecting money, the republicans will now do the same with the same results which is ——nothing. Our tax dollars at work while our country declines. How about setting in motion some solutions to immigration, recession, crime, education, and corruption in government.
Hunter Biden
I can agree with this agenda, I would also like to see work on in country energy solutions and rework treasury.
My concern is that I have yet to see any on the republican side in DC that has what it takes to be a leader and a driving force.
Remove RINOs and take action! This Congress needs to get to the bottom of things. What concerns me is the millions of illegal immigrants roaming free in our country, using our resources on American taxpayer dollars and becoming the deciding factor for Democrats winning elections.
For too long our leaders have done nothing but talk about the disasters that have taken place. As many polls as I and I’m sure many other American citizens have taken and told you how we feel about this terrible mess we are in you are bound to realize our feelings. IT IS TIME FOR ACTION!!! Get off your hands and do what we the people want done. That is why we elected you! If you do that you won’t have to worry about getting re-elected.
We shall see if the republicans can grow a spine. I’m not holding my breath.
For some reason I am not optimistic about Repubs getting any of this done. Especially if Mitch in the Senate is still leader.
What can be done to remove Mitch McConnell from the role of Leader of the Senate??? He is a major obstruction to the goals of Republicans and the people!
I would be happy if both parties would just get back to legislating and trying to help American citizens instead of investigating, impeaching, and impuning one another. Maybe they could serve the public for a change?
I agree with the first one “secure the border” stop flow of illegal immigrants etc Then make priority to deal with inflation, energy independence, and stop giving money “free” money. Deal with kitchen table issues that meet the needs of people first. Then you can take on all the rest of the issues. I want to have things addressed that will improve my life. Also, get to balancing the budget, bring back Clintons welfare to work program, improve apprenticeship programs, lower the cost of college and get all education back to basics so our children will receive an education to be successful. Get things done.
They won the House, not the Senate and the Presidency. They can’t do much other than expose Democratic and progressive misdeeds. Assigning them a long list of things that need to be done and then criticizing them for not doing them all sounds like typical Republican in fighting.
#1A. Fire the 88,000 IRS “gestapo” agents hired. DEFUND them!
Be really nice if any portion of these suggestions are initiated. Remains to be seen but………………..
Disappointing coming from what is supposed to be the conservative voice of the retired. Five points for the House which other than the border crisis are political clap-trap. The short memory of the self-proclaimed conservatives amazes me. Only one reference to the medical tyranny imposed on the country for the last 30+ months and only in reference to the “misinformation apparatus” which in not new but only amplified by the social media tyrants. No mention of the republicans that openly and completely accepted the masking insanity, lock down orders and then the imposition of jab mandates by government, military and business. No priority to have those tyrannical actions and beliefs reversed and immediate steps taken to never allow such actions to occur again. Nothing from government leaders, nothing from most conservative leaders, no outcry from the public.
Crickets.
Disappointing!
It would seem evident that if bodily autonomy is not guaranteed, other freedoms are moot. I do not understand why this is not a bigger issue with AMAC and other conservatives.
This all sounds nice, but the reality is that the House has no power on its own. As for the two impeachments recommended, there is no way to remove either from their positions without the Senate. Basically, nothing can be done but rah rah and stop Biden except for any executive orders he might impose. As for 2024, there is no way the Republicans will ever win another presidency with the ridiculous election laws in swing states. Thanks to Rinos like Bill Barr, who had the chance to get it straightened out in 2020, welcome to the new America that will soon be under total Democrat control.
Unless a law can be made and a concrete basis to stop illegals it will go on and on. We must stop supporting illegals and when caught no matter man, woman or child returned to their homeland. No country allows open borders, and this must be addressed immediately.
Election fraud must be stopped and Jan 6th prisoners released. They have already spent too much time in prison. Also, those sentenced need to be released also.
