The United States currently has no shortage of crises that rightly deserve the attention of those in power, the Afghanistan disaster chief among them. Late last month, the Biden administration also released the hotly anticipated report on the origins of COVID-19. After 90 days, they managed to reveal very little new information regarding the virus’s origins, but did find further evidence for the extent to which China has crippled every attempt to get closer to the truth. So far, there has been no response from the White House. Additionally, the nation continues to face an unprecedented surge of migrants at the southern border, inflation is wreaking havoc on the economic lives of Americans, supply chain problems and shortages are widespread, crime is rampant across US cities, and a rash of cyberattacks have left the country’s critical infrastructure dangerously vulnerable, just to name a few things the Biden team and their progressive friends should be focused on.
But despite these grave threats facing the country, Democrats are desperately trying to push the narrative that the true threat to ordinary Americans is from their own family, friends, and neighbors. The real enemy, according to Dems? Trump supporters.
Biden’s Department of Homeland Security made this abundantly clear in a recent bulletin on “potential terror threats.” According to the Department, “opposition to COVID measures,” “claims of election fraud,” and “9/11 anniversary and religious holidays” all constitute a threat to warrant a “national terrorism alert.” In other words, approximately half the country is now labeled as potential terrorists.
The irony of the Biden administration slandering ordinary Americans as terrorists at exactly the time when they are bowing down to actual terrorists overseas could not be more clear. The administration is openly floating ongoing cooperation with the Taliban, while behaving as if their political opponents are the most urgent threat to national security.
Progressives in Congress have also seized on trumped-up fears of “domestic terrorism” following the events of January 6th in an effort to downplay and distract from the real dangers that are growing under their watch. In a shameless display of political theater, several lawmakers are pushing to have a new fence placed around the Capitol following fears of a second Capitol attack on the 20th anniversary of 9/11—fears for which there is little apparent evidence.
The events of January 6th have been the focus of Democrat efforts to smear their political opponents as terrorists, an effort that has been co-led by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. The pair shamelessly politicized the Congressional commission to investigate the events, with Pelosi rejecting two Republican picks for the panel.
Now, the commission is demanding that social media companies hand over any and all communications from a broad swath of officials only loosely connected to the main figures involved in the event for the days leading up to and immediately following the events of the January 6th protest. These calls come on the heels of the FBI revealing there is “scant evidence the U.S. Capitol attack was coordinated.” Despite that fact, Democrats show no sign of relenting in their effort to turn January 6 into the “new 9/11”.
Under the Biden administration, even the military is being roped into the campaign against the alleged Republican terror threat, which perhaps helps explain military leaders’ complete failure of planning and execution in their recent efforts against actual enemies like the Taliban. During his confirmation hearing, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that he would “fight hard” to “rid our ranks of extremists.” In the weeks that followed, it became clear that “extremist” meant “conservative” or “pro-Trump”, as they began purging conservatives from the ranks.
While the attack on the U.S Capitol is a serious matter to be sure, the almost militant focus on attacking and vilifying conservatives as terrorists and extremists while presiding over the biggest national security catastrophe in decades has left many Americans wondering about the priorities of the Biden Administration and senior military leadership. Their strategy of using misdirection and misinformation to control the media narrative may work well in the short term, but polls show that Americans are already beginning to see through the charade. Should they continue to ignore the real threats facing the country in favor of attempting to use the national security state against their political enemies, next November, voters will likely make clear who they think is the real threat to America.
