It’s official. Kamala Devi Harris is selected as Joe Biden’s running mate in the 2020 presidential campaign. And, all eyes are upon her. Why? It is widely speculated that should Biden demonstrate further cognitive decline if elected, she could quite possibly become our Commander in Chief should the Democrats win the ticket.

Professionally, Harris is a U.S. Senator from California and formerly served as the 32nd Attorney General of California (2011-2017) and the 27th District Attorney of San Francisco (2004-2011). Harris ran for the Democratic nomination for President in the 2020 election before ending her campaign in December of 2019 due to lack of funds to proceed. She holds degrees from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Harris, a native of Oakland, California, is the 1st woman of color to be named as a vice presidential running mate. The 55-year-old is also the third female U.S. Vice Presidential nominee of a major political party, following in the footsteps of Geraldine Ferraro and Sarah Palin. BBC reports that Harris is the daughter of a mother from India and her father is from Jamaica. Her parents have been described as activists.

Per the list.com, Kamala Harris is married since 2014 to spouse Douglas Emhoff, an entertainment lawyer. Harris is the stepmom of his two children from a previous marriage. Per the list.com, in 2018, Harris and her husband reported a combined income of $1,884,319. Together, as of a 2019 Forbes article, the couple is said to have a net worth of about $6 million, some of which is tied up in real estate. If the Biden/Harris team is elected, Emhoff would become the first Second Gentleman of the United States.

Fox Business News and others have declared Harris a radical VP pick for Biden, citing it is bad news for American workers and economic recovery and lurches Democrats further left. Harris, per a Fox Business report, has a purported poor understanding of the working of the economy. Giving an example, Harris dismissed the strength of the pre-pandemic labor market and stated that people in America are working two and three jobs. Whereas, realistically, about 5 percent of employees hold more than one job, some by choice rather than need. Fox Business credits President Trump’s implementation of pro-growth policies that have incentivized private-sector job growth, bringing the unemployment rate to a 50-year low pre-pandemic.

In addition, the media suggests that a Biden/Harris ticket could be more trouble than what voters are bargaining for as they are beholden to Democratic Socialist, Bernie Sanders. Sanders is expected to maintain influence over the Democrats through embracement of his “unity” platform that consists of some of the most radical economic reforms in our country. Biden’s willingness to bend toward Sanders’ progressive economic blueprints to secure votes is why some suggest that he and Harris are mere puppets on a string. Voters beware.
