Health awareness events serve very important purposes. They aim to do some of the following:

The significance

As evident, health initiatives work to support and save lives. Here are five examples of many great health initiatives for the month of July. We’re including links so that you can learn more. Additionally, click here for a comprehensive list by month for 2025.

  1. Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month: This campaign highlights the challenges faced by children with juvenile arthritis (JA). Visit the Arthritis Foundation for more information on this condition that affects about 300,000 children in the USA alone. JA can negatively impact growth and development and affect the overall body, likely causing pain and emotional and psychological symptoms. To learn more, and to discover ways to help, click here.
  2. National Hemochromatosis Awareness Month: This initiative focuses on hemochromatosis, a condition where the body absorbs too much iron. This genetic condition can cause a multitude of problems when left untreated, such as damage to the liver, heart, pancreas, endocrine glands, joints and more. For more information on this genetic disorder, visit Iron Disorders Institute (IDI), a leading organization raising awareness for the cause.
  3. Sarcoma Awareness Month: This awareness campaign focuses on recognition of sarcoma, a rare cancer of the bone and soft tissue. This “forgotten cancer” needs fundraising and research to push for early detection and intervention. Like most cancers, sarcoma can be curable when detected early and localized, but outcomes can vary. To learn more, visit the website of the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA).
  4. National Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month: Each year, organizations such as March of Dimes promote awareness and prevention of conditions such as orofacial birth defects as well as acquired conditions from trauma, burns, and disease. In addition to promoting awareness, the organization and its partners offer support and education for patients and families throughout the year. Visit for more information.
  5. World Brain Day: This annual event, observed on July 22, raises awareness of brain health and neurological disorders. 2025’s theme, “Brain Health for All Ages”, focuses on the importance of brain health throughout the entire human lifespan. This global campaign is organized by the World Federation of Neurology. Learn more about promoting brain health across all stages of life, from pre-conception to old age.
