Dogs have cleaner mouths than humans

Dog and human mouths have different types of microbes. Dog microbes are beneficial for dogs and human microbes are beneficial for humans.  Since both human mouths and dog mouths are filled with bacteria, when looking at the numbers this myth is technically untrue.

All dogs can swim

Not all dogs can swim. In fact, breeds with low body fat like Dobermans and Boxers can have trouble swimming. Dogs with health issues, young and old dogs, those new to swimming, and fearful dogs are at increased risk of drowning. Bottom line – ALWAYS supervise pets in water.

A wagging tail equals a  joyful greeting

While wagging tails are generally associated with happy dogs, this is not always true. It does not always mean a canine is friendly and approachable. Just like human facial expressions, a wagging tail can mean many things.

Dogs are totally colorblind

Dogs do not see the same colors as humans. They see differently due to the way their retinas are formed. Dogs have less cones and more rods than humans. Dogs see in blues, yellows, and grays. While dogs are unable to see red, this alone does not make them totally colorblind.
