Talk about life coming at us fast! I don’t know about you, but only now have I begun to settle into the reality of our success on Election Day. But we remain in a time when significant events are happening every day. And multiple times a day! While each of these events are worthy of their own commentary, I wanted to brief you on news that you could not miss and which you very well may have.

Within 24 hours of writing this column, former representative Matt Gaetz withdrew his name as President Trump’s nominee for Attorney General. That came as a surprise to many, but reports are saying that after multiple meetings with senators, it became clear that there was too much opposition to his nomination. What now? There are a few paths forward, including possibly being named by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to fill Marco Rubio’s senate seat.

On the same day that Gaetz withdrew, President Trump continued the rapid action we’ve seen from the moment he became the president-elect. Within hours, he announced former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his new nominee for Attorney General. This was met with universal praise on social media by Trump’s circle and supporters of the president. Bondi was a prosecutor in Florida for 20 years, and the state’s AG for eight years, from 2011-2019. She also happened to be the first woman to hold that office. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with and interviewing her a number of times and found her to be sharp, confident, and ready for anything. She’s a brilliant attorney and will make an excellent attorney general.

Closing out another unnecessary drama fed by the panic of the Democrats, Democrat senator Bob Casey finally conceded to Republican challenger Dave McCormick for the Pennsylvania Senate seat, ending an ongoing recount. Casey spent weeks contesting the results despite no path to victory. All this was happening while a Bucks County commissioner caused a stunning scandal by publicly announcing they would ignore a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision and count invalid ballots. After national outrage, one commissioner attempted to clean up her remarks by saying they were “inartfully worded,” and taken out of context. Despite all that being said, very clearly and in context, on a viral video.

Both of these situations reveal politicians enmeshed in an establishment status quo that was not used to being held to account. We’re seeing confusion and panic from people who have become used to being the sole arbiters of right and wrong and want to maintain their position and power. It is just one more example of how much work there is to do as we confront entrenched elites who simply do not want to let go of what they mistakenly believe belongs only to them.

And there’s more. A new congressional investigation reveals the extremely disturbing history of the Capitol Police officer who killed Ashli Babbitt during the January 6th riots. Just the News reports, “The Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 riots and then was promoted has a lengthy internal affairs and disciplinary record that includes firearm-related incidents, a sweeping congressional investigation has found. The issues in Captain Michael Byrd’s background included a failed shotgun qualification test, a failed FBI background check for a weapon’s purchase, a 33-day suspension for a lost weapon, and a referral to Maryland state prosecutors for firing his gun at a stolen car fleeing his neighborhood, according to congressional and police documents obtained by Just the News.”

While all of this remains heartbreaking, Jonathan Turley reminds us that the Babbitt family’s wrongful death civil suit will go to trial in July of 2026. That’s a long way off, but a congressional report this detailed and shocking may play a significant role in Ashli’s family getting some kind of justice. This tragic story is one more piece of a putrid puzzle bringing together so many elements of government corruption, incompetence, and an abandonment of the American people in general.

Closing out this week, it’s also worth noting to be careful when hearing that Trump’s sweeping victory indicates that woke is dead and Americans are forever ready for a renaissance of which our nation is worthy. Trump’s victory was a magnificent turn of events with historic repercussions, but we cannot ignore the fact that over 74 million people voted for Kamala Harris, despite the damage she has done as vice president, and her refusal to address the issues important to Americans.

Usually, when someone refuses to answer your questions or tell you what their plans are, it’s because they’re hiding something they know you won’t like. And yet, as vote counting is finally winding down in certain states like deep blue California, Harris won the second-most votes of any Democratic nominee ever. National Review reports, “Harris has, as of this writing, the fourth-most votes of any presidential candidate in U.S. history, the most by any woman, and the second-most by any Democrat, ever. She’s won about 4 million more votes than Barack Obama in 2008, 7.2 million more votes than Obama in 2012, 7.3 million more votes than Hillary Clinton, and 10.1 million more votes than Donald Trump in 2016.”

Moreover, “And while Trump’s victory was an indisputable romp, Harris came within 29,687 votes of winning Wisconsin, 79,568 votes of winning Michigan, and 130,584 votes of winning Pennsylvania, In other words, if about 241,000 votes in three states had gone the other way, Harris would be president,” noted the NR.

Now is the time to revel in Trump’s victory and plan how to make his second term a resounding success. But it must be coupled with an understanding that nothing ever stops the left. They are unfamiliar with soul-searching, remorse, or guilt. They do not “learn lessons” because the groupthink in which they wallow assures them they have sole possession of the truth.

Our work demands a focus and discipline to enact the Trump agenda, but also dismantle the lies which feed the gaslighting and fear the Democrats use to manipulate and control people. The election results make it clear the American people are ready for a different path— and to keep those Americans on the side of a strong, safe, and prosperous America, we must deliver on policy while also exposing the Democrats and their leftist handlers as the fear-mongering frauds they are.
