“There is no federal law that’s been passed by Congress, either authorizing abortions across the country or banning abortions across the country. And essentially, it has been up to the states for many years, most of American history, except in 1973, the Supreme Court then stepped in and made the famous Roe vs. Wade ruling.” Congressman Mike Waltz [R-FL] reminded us of this fact in a recent interview with Rebecca Weber, CEO of the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC], during a recent Better For America podcast.

Congressman Waltz, or Colonel Waltz of the National Guard, is a patriot and a combat-decorated Green Beret – the first Green Beret to be elected to serve in Congress. He is also a former White House and Pentagon policy advisor, an author, and a small business owner. Waltz was first elected to serve in the House of Representatives in 2019. And he had plenty to say about the brou-ha-ha over the leaked Supreme Court document that strongly suggests the court is prepared to do away with the Roe vs. Wade anti-life right to abortion. It’s something that conservative Americans have been seeking to overturn for half of a century.

Someone who works at the Supreme Court leaked a draft version of the ruling that is likely to be handed down by the Justices of the Court in the not-so-distant future that would overturn Roe vs. Wade. That 1973 ruling made it legal to take the life of an unborn child. Waltz explained that it is a common practice of the Court to “make an initial kind of [a draft] almost like a preliminary ruling and then opinions are assigned. But it goes through many iterations. And many times, justices try to change each other’s minds through the legal case they present in these opinions. So, it was incredibly irresponsible to leak this document.”

Waltz told Weber that if the Court’s Justices do overturn the pro-abortion ruling of their predecessors, Congress can pass a federal law making abortion legal or leave it up to the states to pass their own local laws.

On the topic of the Ukraine war, Waltz warned that “Putin will not stop if he slices through Ukraine. Next will be the Baltics. Those are NATO’s allies.  Then will be pockets of places like Hungary, Poland, and Romania. He fully intends and has stated his intent to re-establish the old Soviet Union. And that is something that we cannot be at peace with. We can’t go down the slippery slope of appeasement. We must help Zelensky and the Ukrainians take a stand.”

He went on to express his concern that America is exposed to threats from the east and the west. “We have China with an economy as large as ours, a navy that’s bigger than ours, a space force that is more active than ours, that fully seeks to replace the United States as a global leader, coupled with a declining but very dangerous Russia with a modernized nuclear arsenal, rogue states like Iran and North Korea that are marching towards their own nukes, that could set off an arms race in Asia and in the Middle East and all of that with this still a very dangerous global threat of terrorism that’s now growing and simmering in a terrorist superstate that is under the Taliban with billions of the most modern weaponry that we left behind [in Afghanistan].

As for the assault on our southern border, the Congressman said, “this isn’t just a border problem.  It’s a national problem.  Every state is a border state as we’re facing numbers approaching over 2 million migrants just in Biden’s first year. Now, you multiply that by four. And I mean, we’re talking 8 million people coming through. What breaks my heart as a father of a daughter is that 30 to 40% is estimated by international NGOs…we are a nation of immigrants, but we have a system, and we have rules. I’ve personally helped Afghan interpreters that fought and stood with us to become U.S. citizens. And you want to talk to people who are flaming mad at seeing others who sneak across our border and jump in line.  It’s those that almost died standing beside American soldiers in Afghanistan to then be able to come here. And then finally, it’s the cartels themselves…we’re in a negative spiral here. What do we do about it? Well, we must win back the Congress first, and then we must win back the White House because I don’t expect this administration to really lift a finger to secure our border. It’s borderline criminal on their part.”
