WASHINGTON, DC, May 11 — Israel is under attack again, but this time the assaults are coming from two sides. On the ground, Hamas assailants are using bullets and bombs to kill as many Israeli citizens as possible in their homes and on their streets. Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress seek to undermine the resolve of the Israeli people using rhetoric as their weapon of choice.
The Associated Press reports that the fighting is the most intense it’s been since the mini-war of 2014 between Israel and the Gaza insurgents and that the death toll is mounting on both sides. In Washington, progressive Democrats seek to undermine Israeli-U.S. relations, siding with the terrorists.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib [D-MI] and Rep. André Carson [D-IN] attended an anti-Israel rally outside the State Department. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and American Muslims for Palestine organized the protest to call “on the Biden administration to condemn and oppose the Israeli government’s campaign to expel Palestinian families from Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.”
Former President Donald Trump issued a statement of support for Israel: ” When I was in office, we were known as the Peace Presidency because Israel’s adversaries knew that the United States stood strongly with Israel and there would be swift retribution if Israel was attacked. Under Biden, the world is getting more violent and more unstable because Biden’s weakness and lack of support for Israel is leading to new attacks on our allies. America must always stand with Israel and make clear that the Palestinians must end the violence, terror, and rocket attacks, and make clear that the U.S. will always strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself. Unbelievably, Democrats also continue to stand by crazed anti-American Rep. Ilhan Omar, and others, who savagely attack Israel while they are under terrorist assault.”
Rep. Ilhan Omar [D-MN], who is unabashedly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel, issued a statement of her own via social media. It failed to mention that Hamas terrorists started this new mini-war when it began firing rockets indiscriminately into populated sections of Israel. Instead, it said: “Israeli airstrikes killing civilians in Gaza is an act of terrorism. Palestinians deserve protection. Unlike Israel, missile defense programs, such as Iron Dome don’t exist to protect Palestinian civilians. It’s unconscionable not to condemn these attacks on the week of Eid.”
In addition to Omar, Tlaib, and Carson, Representatives Jamal Bowman [D-NY], Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez [D-NY], and others have chimed in on the side of the terrorists.
