Richmond, Virginia –
Following a concerted outreach campaign from AMAC members, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed 16 of 17 legislative actions which would have further undermined election integrity and violated the sanctity of the ballot box.
In total, Virginia’s AMAC members sent nearly 800 messages to Governor Youngkin urging him to reject legislation which would have made it easier for non-citizens to vote, limited free speech, expanded ranked-choice voting, and reduced local control over elections.
Lynn Taylor, Chair of Virginia Fair Elections said, “AMAC Action has been a key partner in our mission to ensure free and fair elections in Virginia. AMAC’s members have diligently worked towards transparency in our electoral process, notably by reaching out to the Governor’s office to advocate for vetoes that prevent harmful legislative actions from infringing on our rights as Virginia voters. We commend AMAC’s Virginia members for their unwavering dedication and thank them for their ongoing support.”
With pivotal local, state, and federal elections on the horizon, AMAC Action will continue to keep its members informed on vital issues of election integrity and empower them to demand action from their elected officials.
