Wow! It certainly didn’t take you long to take down this morning’s poll related to the State of the Union address. What’s wrong AMAC? Not happy with the results so far or the comments you were getting? Lol!!!

Democrats are fanatical about protecting their embedded illegals for the obvious reason that to include them in a National Census would place some of their voter base in jeopardy of deportation. I don’t know of any government agency that does not have the right to demand evidence of citizenship. That’s as it should be. Immigrants with visas or green cards should be so designated on the census. Undocumented immigrants should be expected to truthfully answer all questions. Any deceptive responses should be grounds for immediate and unquestioned deportation when ICE takes them into custody.

I thought the census was in place to count how many American citizens lived here? If they are foreigners of course they aren’t counted.

The question remains. Would the be honest or even fill out the survey if they are illegal?

I am a census transcriber. The question of citizenship was asked in the past of the late 1885 to 1900 and perhaps later as well, but in these years there was a box for those who were aliens and those currently seeking citizenship.

Absolutely it should be a question. Will people lie? Mist likely.

The problem is this: Census Bureau employees must accept whatever answers are given them. You can see 7 kids calling the lady at the door mom while she says she has no kids. Or a kid answers the door and says no one lives here.

When did this question even become a question?

Yes that would be the best way to track them and then start deportation make sure that they are not collecting government benefits like social security food stamps medical care

My understanding is the census bureau is to find out how many people reside in the United States. If we want the best count leave the question as optional. Similar to what you have on employment applications and doctors notes-white, black Hispanic , other. American, green card, work visa, other

I can’t even believe this is under debate!!! This is a national census, for heaven’s sake, and is used for so many things.

One of the purposes of the Census is to determine who is represented in our federal government, If you do not ask this question, then those who are not citizens, either legal or not are represented in a government that was formed to represent its citizens. Yes it should be included.

Absolutely! Then, we could match-up their names with the voting lists to verify citizenship! We need to weed out the illegals from voting. Our elected representatives should not be allowed to count illegals in their districts as part of their voting block.

This is why we have illegal voting. This is why democrats need them to win. They do not care about the American people.

Let’s be real, illegals, by virtue of this label, lied to get in. They’ll lie to this question anyway but the purpose of the census is to count “AMERICANS”. Therefore confirming nationality is key. I think we should be required to confirm ID for this and voting.

MOST certainly! If one feels intimidated to answer a question, one should seriously consider, why a lie is necessary in one’s life. We ALL make mistakes in our lives and sooner or later, must face the truth.

As for illegals should the dems refuse the wall allow the next two groups attempting illegally send them to palosi ‘s congressional district and the 2nd group to Schumer’s district.

Let’s see! Texas and Pennsylvania stated they have around 70,000 people voting who are not citizens and voted illegally.
You need a valid ID to get on a plane, open a bank account, and do so many other things in our lives, why should citizenship not be a question on the census.
We are counting CITIZENS!

The census determines our congressional districts and how many representatives your state can have. The fundamental’s of our Republic demand United States Citizenship. Asking if a person is a citizen is paramount to honest House of Representative representation. This is a “NO BRAINER”.

And then what. The question would not mean anything on the census. I thought it was a headcount only that is used in many ways to make numbers report what is wanted.

If this question is banned then we should eliminate all other questions except name and age. No questions on sex, race, etc., etc.
I bet the Dems would go bananas over that.

Census is used to determine how much money is given to areas based on population. We should not reward those government units who refuse to follow the law and let illegals to live without fear of removal. Our resources are already stretched thin on the federal level. If localities want to welcome illegals let them pay for their decision.

If you are a citizen of our Country and here legally then there is no big deal about the question. Now the only ones that would have a problem would be the one here illegally or trying to protect the ones that are illegals.

Can I vote in Russia, China, Zimbabwe.
I think guessing other countries have laws that allow citizens of their country only one vote.
Such a novel idea.

No one thought it was wrong At all in the early 1900’s when my Great Grandfather came from England and was listed as an “alien”. I believe he & my American born family he was staying with expected it and were not moved by it at all as “aliens” of the day were more likely to honor and respect the laws of the land & abide by them.
Back then Americans were strong in Biblical values as well as in honoring our country and its Biblically based laws. I believe it never crossed anyone’s mind – including those listed as “aliens” pretty much knew the drill and expected to be asked if they were a citezen or not.
Those who were, were proud to say so and those who weren’t were proud to be looking forward to becoming one and doing so legally.
Try living illegally in a foreign socialist nation and see what happens….usually armed soldiers come to take you away….
Bottom line- if you are here legally as an “alien” then you are not bothered by the question.
If you are a citizen you should be proud to answer that you are.
Those who srd nsturslizef are extremely proud to say they are and cant wsit to be adked!

A Census is of little value if it fails to give the information needed for the purpose it was taken. Therefore, the truth should prevail and the consequences severe if falsehoods are found.
