Michigan is in Eastern time zone. Bob L. 3 years ago DST, one idea Ben had I wish he hadn’t. Phillip 3 years ago Just got an email from my employer warning us to be vigilant after the time change because studies show a 6% spike in fatal vehicle crashes after we reset our clocks. Forget about it not serving any useful purpose, wouldn’t that be a good enough reason in itself to do away with DST? Ruth Pierce 3 years ago 8/11. AMAC made an error on question number 8. I live in Michigan. We are on Eastern Standard Time. Colorado was correct – they are on Mountain Standard Time. So…No. 8 actually has two answers: Michigan – EST/EDT; Colorado – MST/MDT. Not that it matters, but my score should have been 9/11. Eddie 3 years ago I hate the change….I love it getting dark around 5pm. Lookin fwd to November already so we can roll the clocks back. One vote for Standard Time! Karen 3 years ago I live in AZ. We don’t have daylight savings except for the Indian reservations. It is so much easier. The only thing I hate about it is in the winter California has the same time as we do, and the TV has some stations where programs are an hour off. Hal Balthrop 3 years ago Daylight savings time had some practical useful utility value back when it was created. Not so much so now, IMO. Kate 3 years ago 8/11. Love as much daylight as I can get. I always look forward to DST. I hate the shorter days. Denise T 3 years ago Standard time is the way nature works, Ben Franklin always said , Early to Bed, Early to Rise , makes a man happy, healthy and wise. If you get up earlier, you have the same amount of daylight. Love living in AZ were we DO NOT change. Janet D 3 years ago Uhhhhh….. Michigan is not in the Central Time Zone, we’re Eastern Time Zone because the auto barons wanted to be in the same time zone as Wall Street. Paula Hunt 3 years ago Question 8 is wrong. Michigan is not central time. It’s eastern. Someone goofed! Liam 3 years ago I think you are wrong about the first year that the U.S. observed DST. Seems I remember as a kid during World War II we were on Daylight Savings Time. Ann ritter 3 years ago George Hudson must have been a demoncrat. Only a demoncrat could have thought of something so useless and stupid, yet so annoying. Did he also think up “global warming”? Cheryl 3 years ago DST is correctly Daylight Saving Time not Daylight SavingS Time. The latter has been used incorrectly for so long that it has become accepted. MPB 3 years ago It should be called Daylight Shifting Time as that is what it truly is. Rinh 3 years ago The answer to question 6 is yes, not no. Countries closer to the equator gain exactly as much daylight by switching to DST as countries farther from the equator. They all gain exactly zero extra daylight – they only change the clocks. If the question means do they gain as much extra evening light as countries farther from the equator, the answer is still yes. DST simply shifts an hour of daylight from morning to evening by changing the clock. This is true no matter where you are. I am really tired of the wrong answers in these quizzes. If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t do it! Ellen 3 years ago My worst score yet. Guess that’s appropriate since Daylight Saving Time is one of the worst ideas ever. It’s long outlived its usefulness, if indeed it ever was useful. I want standard time back and to stop these ridiculous and annoying changes twice a year. numbersrunner 3 years ago The answer to number 2 should be ‘none of the above’ wolverine70 3 years ago Michigan isn’t on CST. 8/11, but should’ve been 9. Njevans 3 years ago I guess the only think I know about DST is that I have to either spring forward or fall back. 5/11. Not so good! Steven 3 years ago 4/11 I obviously no squat about DST. Steven 3 years ago Make that know squat…it’s Monday. Tina 3 years ago Dumb, dumb, dumb! Brown 3 years ago Michigan is on Eastern Standard Time, except for 4 counties in the western Upper Peninsula, which are on Central Time. slymet 3 years ago I was mostly guessing on every question, and did an horrible job of it. 4 out of 11. Never knew that Russia did away with DST in 2011. wpDiscuz580Would love your thoughts, please comment.x()x| ReplyInsert Login Login Join Renew Member Benefits Newsline Member Benefits Advocacy Our Actions About Advocacy Issues Get Involved Weekly Update Annual Report Find Your Representative AMAC App Better for America Podcast Book Club AMAC Blog FAQ About Us Overview Our Team Our Stance on Key Issues Magazine Medicare Games Voice Your Opinion in AMAC Polls AMAC in the Media AMAC Action AMAC Foundation Social Security Guarantee Prime Directives Brief Prime Directives Details Sweepstakes Contact Advertise with AMAC Terms & Conditions Privacy Policy
