Anti-aging Beauty Tips

Three top tips to discovering the optimal beauty products & behaviors

What does anti-aging mean?

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The word, “anti-aging,” is frequently used in the beauty industry. In the trade, it does not mean that people are against getting older. Rather, it loosely refers to products and techniques designed to embrace the process of aging, to include growing older with grace and dignity – and enhanced beauty. Read on to learn some anti-aging beauty tips.

So many choices

Anti-aging beauty methods may include filling thin eyebrows, softening harsh lines, or plumping lips. While some people seek injections or surgical options, most often there are products on the market designed to provide the illusions we desire.

Straight talk

Truth be told, quality anti-aging products do not solely focus on looks. They also address how people feel. For example, skin dryness is a frequent problem that accompanies the aging process. Unfortunately, lacking natural moisture in the skin can have unhealthy consequences such as flaking. Thus, people turn to anti-aging beauty products for support. However, not all anti-aging products are of high quality. In fact, some are poorly made, contain inferior foreign ingredients, make claims of miracle cures that are untrue, or are downright unhealthy. Note that there is no magical formula to regain youth, so buyers beware of false advertising. But there’s some good news. There are some well-balanced and safe products on the market that may help conditions or decrease signs of aging.

How do we aging people know what’s best?

Enjoy these three top tips to help you find the optimal anti-aging beauty products & behaviors. Note that even small, healthful changes can benefit the aging process.

  • Talk to your dermatologist or medical doctor about which anti-aging products are best for you – To obtain the ideal skincare regimen, talk to your doctor about your skincare needs and to ascertain which products are right for your skin type. As part of your overall healthcare routine, a skin care professional familiar with the latest anti-aging products and procedures can best advise you. This may include daily use of serums, creams, and other effective products containing retinols, hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants, growth factors, vitamins, collagen, or other products which are generally deemed beneficial to the skin.
  • Share your aging story with your family doctor. Family doctors treat many common conditions related to aging, such as hair loss. While aging may play a role in thinning hair or baldness, sometimes underlying illness, conditions, deficiencies, and hormonal imbalances may be responsible. It’s best to leave the diagnosis to a professional. Unless you have the okay from your doctor, resist self-medicating using over the counter or internet products with unproven claims to address medical issues you are facing.
  • Stop buying into false advertising. The purchase of “miracle products”, those which make false claims to miraculously cure ailments, can unfortunately lead to monetary loss, disappointment, or further medical problems. When testing new products, try those approved by your physician. Also allow your doctor  to monitor product usage and track your progress. The primary goal is to be fit and feel healthy throughout the aging process.
  • Find your best features and run with it – Plump lips, high cheekbones, vibrant eye color? These are examples of desirable facial features associated with youthfulness and anti-aging products. Though the beauty industry sets the bar high using their own prescribed definition of attractiveness to promote sales, everyone possesses positive physical attributes. Don’t focus on the negative, such as dark spots. Rather, concentrate on what you physically like best about yourself. This can be a game changer. For example, a woman with high cheekbones can use makeup techniques such as contouring to make her bone structure stand out. Same with lips, eyes, and more!
  • Quit the bad stuff – Smoking is one example of a behavior that can not only negatively affect how folks look and age, but it also affects overall health. Quit the bad practices and strive to live healthfully. Eating a well-balanced diet full of vitamins and antioxidants, sleeping well and for an adequate time, managing stress, exercising regularly, addressing sun exposure, and drinking plenty of water are manageable ways to take charge of your health and beauty. Let’s be clear – aging is to be celebrated

Just as there are benefits that accompany youthfulness, there are also many which grow with age, such as increased wisdom and confidence. It’s true that some physical changes occur with aging, such as baldness and gray hair. Why not rock these looks? Visit Pinterest featuring hairstyles and great looks for the over 50 crowd.

Embrace your age

Aging is a natural process, so don’t fight it. Rather, embrace it with some of these great anti-aging beauty tips. While “anti-aging” sounds like one is revolting against aging, that is far from the truth. As shared, the beauty industry uses the term loosely. Aging is something all of us face, and there is no fountain of youth. Anti-aging products are mainly designed for middle age and older people who seek to age with grace and seek to feel comfortable in their own skin. However, how you age or respond to growing older is entirely up to you.
