The Honorable Jake Hoffman
Arizona District 12 State Representative
Arizona House of Representatives
Capitol Complex
Room 341
1700 West Washington
Phoenix, AZ 85007
Dear Representative Hoffman,
On behalf of the 2.37 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 72,000 who reside in the state of Arizona, I write to offer our support for your legislation that helps to reform elections in Arizona, House Bill 2569.
AMAC members have voiced their concern regarding how private funding influences the outcomes of elections and have placed election integrity at the top of our legislative priorities. Your legislation certainly addresses our members’ concerns.
H.B. 2569 prohibits any public body that administers elections from receiving or expending private money for preparing for, administering, or conducting an election, including registering voters. Removing private dollars from the public election process decreases the potential for influence from agenda-driven donor groups and individuals that could lead to voting irregularities.
Thank you, Representative Hoffman, for your leadership in ensuring the integrity of Arizona’s elections. Your legislation should serve as a template for other states and AMAC is pleased to offer our association’s full support for House Bill 2569.
Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President, AMAC Action
