DOJ

The DOJ’s silence regarding the continued outbreak of antisemitism on college campuses is unacceptable. AMAC Action and Advancing American Freedom demand an answer!

Merrick Garland
Attorney General of the United States
950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20530

Miguel Cardona
Secretary of Education
400 Maryland Avenue SW
Washington, DC 20202

Dear Attorney General Garland and Secretary Cardona;

Last year, Advancing American Freedom led a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Education (DOE) regarding the spike in antisemitic vandalism, harassment, and violence across the United States particularly on college campuses. To date, we have received a response from DOE but not DOJ. We are thankful for DOE’s response, even if uninspiring. However, we are thoroughly disappointed in the DOJ’s silence regarding the continued outbreak of antisemitism on college campuses.

In addition to the requests made in the previous letter, we request responses to the new items below:

  1. What steps are DOE and DOJ taking to ensure the physical safety of Jews/pro-Israel
students, faculty, and staff on campuses?
  2. What are you doing to ensure that students and non-students on campus who harass, harm,
and assault Jews/pro-Israel students, faculty, and staff are properly disciplined?
  3. Are you reviewing the visa status of foreigners who harass, harm, and assault Jews/proIsrael students, faculty, and staff? What steps have you taken to facilitate that review?
  4. Are you looking into who is funding the tuition and the expenses related to encampments
and other activities of the protestors who harass, harm, and assault Jews/pro-Israel students,
    faculty, and staff?
  5. What are you doing or will you do if it is found that foreign agents or hostile foreign
governments are funding the disorder on college campuses?
  6. Will you make public any information related to the foreign funding of disorder on college
    campuses?
  7. Have any of the protestors received student loans, student loan forgiveness, student aid
(FAFSA), or other benefits paid for or subsidized by American taxpayers?
  8. Are you looking into freezing/rescinding any federal funding for schools or elements of
schools that facilitate or have not sufficiently stopped the harassment, harm, and assault of
    Jews/pro-Israel students, faculty, and staff?
  9. Are you investigating potential violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act?

For your convenience, please send a detailed reply to [email protected] and the following address, and we will ensure that it is distributed to all of the letter’s signers:

Paul Teller, Executive Director, Advancing American Freedom
801 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 930, Washington, DC 20004

Sincerely,

Bob Carlstrom
President
