Dear Congressman Banks,
On behalf of the over 2.3 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens – I write to offer our support for H.R. 1092, your bill to place temporary restrictions on acquisitions by the People’s Republic of China.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the communist Chinese government has demonstrated its duplicity by taking no responsibility for the spread of the coronavirus and the resulting economic havoc it has wreaked. From manipulating the World Health Organization’s response to the coronavirus, to allowing Chinese nationals to travel throughout the world after its detection, to blaming the virus on America, China has proven to be no friend to the United States.
AMAC members are demanding that China be held accountable for this crisis and your bill is certainly a good first step. H.R. 1092 wisely addresses Chinese exploitation of the pandemic by restricting their ability to purchase interests in companies that are vital to US national security as described in the Defense Production Act, and sensibly expands this description to include industries such as media outlets, energy companies and agricultural interests.
The sunsetting of H.R. 1092 is prudently left to the discretion of the President to ensure the United States’ economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic is substantial and complete.
Thank you, Congressman Banks, for protecting America from the predatory investment tactics of a communist government with questionable motives and one proven to be untrustworthy. I agree that we need to keep the Chinese from investing in industries and businesses in our country there would cast future problems for our great country the United States of America! I would also like to know why we are not legally going after China in the courts for starting this worldwide Covid pandemic?!! Is it possible to start a class action suit in the world courts against China? Are we awake out there?!!
