Woke Academic Gobbledygook Makes You Rich and Famous

This week, a professor went viral during congressional testimony regarding the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overruling Roe v. Wade. During her testimony, professor Khiara Bridges of Berkeley Law School refused to acknowledge any value at all in unborn children, instead stating, “I think that the person with the capacity for pregnancy has value and they should have the ability to control what happens.” This prompted Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., to ask, “You’ve referred to people with a capacity for pregnancy. Would that be women?” Bridges immediately responded, “Many cis women have the capacity for pregnancy. Many cis women do not have the capacity for pregnancy. There are also trans men who are capable of pregnancy as well as nonbinary people who are capable of pregnancy.” Hawley asked incredulously, “Your view, the core of this right is about what?” To which Bridges shot back, “I want to recognize that your line of questioning is transphobic, and it opens up trans people to violence.” She then blamed Hawley for the high suicidal ideation rate of those who identify as transgender, and lectured him, “We have a good time in my class. You should join.”

Hawley was of course correct that only women can have babies; women who believe they are men are still women. And the notion that suicidal ideation rates among LGBT people are the result predominantly of societal bigotry is completely evidence-free; suicidal ideation rates among LGBT people remain massively higher than among cisgender heterosexual people in San Francisco just as they would in Alabama.

The question that should trouble us, then, isn’t whether men have babies. They don’t. The question is why our most prestigious academic institutions now churn out privileged pseudo-intellectuals who spout utter nonsense at the drop of the hat, and do it with self-assured sententiousness.

The answer lies in the incentive structure in higher education. Our higher education system is designed to benefit claims of victimhood rooted in intersectional identity politics. That is the only way to explain just why Bridges, one of the most educationally privileged members of American society, makes a career complaining about the systemic evils of the United States. It takes enormous gall and equal ignorance to claim that bigotry lies behind the reality of sexual dichotomy; it takes just as much gall and ignorance to claim that a country that has afforded you the opportunity to achieve a degree from Spelman College, a JD from Columbia Law School, a Ph.D. from Columbia in anthropology, and a career in classical ballet is somehow a country shot through with systemic racism.

And yet that is precisely what Bridges does for a living. Her study specializes in “race, class, reproductive rights, and the intersection of the three.” Author of “Critical Race Theory: A Primer” and a self-described “critical race theorist,” Bridges believes in the “rejection of legal conventions” and advocates in favor of the ideas that “racism is a normal feature of American society (and not a deviation from an otherwise fair and just status quo)” and that “traditional liberal understandings of the problem of racism and how racism will be defeated” ought to be rejected.

This, too, is nonsense. But it is nonsense cherished by the elite institutions that churn out supposed academics like Bridges. Our system of academia is irrevocably broken. Academia was originally perceived as a place of merit-based higher learning, a place in which the best and brightest formulated the most important policies. Academia was the West’s intellectual oligarchy. But if the idea behind a merit-based academic elite used to rest in the actual merit of ideas and performance, that idea was left behind long ago. Now, the self-perpetuating academic elite is happy to maintain control by paying lip service to radicals like Bridges. All that matters, in true Foucault fashion, is power. That, presumably, is the reason why Bridges treats dissent as a form of violence — oligarchs usually do. Intellectual oligarchs are no different. And the biggest casualty is truth.

I’m a big fan of those YouTube videos he’s made encouraging people to use self-restraint. That guy really has been through it. He’s a great role model. I’ll always remember my favorite line of his. I apologize if I get it wrong, it’s been a few years. “It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be hard, really hard. You’re going to have to hold on tight with both hands. Just remember, when you’re holding on, God’s holding on, too. If you close your eyes you can feel Him.”

I do remember that one. Wasn’t quite those words but that was the message. Inspiring.

I listened to the replay of this on the radio today as I was coming home from a Bible study. Wow. I could hear satan in her voice, twisting every question that Senator Hawley asked her. He NEVER made any rude comments to her, only asked her questions so that she could explain herself. Got to say, by the time that clip was over, my blood pressure had gone up. What an idot she is – but satan (and I never capitalize his name!) is working, or should I say woking hard in his final days!

What kind of idiots would HIRE this disgraceful person as a “professor?” Well, I guess the same kind who voted in a SCOTUS judge who doesn’t know how to define “woman.”

Those idiots run everything and command great power and DOLLARS through fear and intimidation. Have no fear, they wouldn’t admit any of us mere mortals into their halls of power and money. Nor would they admit any normal kid into their universities. Which begs the question–why would any self respecting parent spend a huge fortune to send that nice kid to a formerly great college and be surpried when the child spouts all that GARBAGE when they come home for Thanksgiving?

It will all end soon. All people who espouse opinions different from those laid down by Almighty God will be judged. They have a chance as all do, of being forgiven, because the criteria for that is to ask in sincerity for Christ Jesus, who is one with the Father, to save them. They will find out as all who make this decision do, that they are sinners and only can do better with help from the Holy Spirit. God can’t look upon sin, and loved us so much He sent His only Son to atone for us. We simply can’t be good enough. There are many signs of end times, e.g. two Timothy three verse one through five. There are many verses about things science has discovered recently that were known two to four thousand years ago. firmament from water Genesis one, six. Climate heat Revelation sixteen verse eight. Deep ocean springs Job thirty eight verse sixteen. Satan rules the earth for a time, but God is ultimately in control. God allows this because most people don’t want His laws and ways and the human race rebelled from the beginning.

Bridges is a flame thrower who only sees what she wants to see. She has no sense of fairness for those who disagree with her views and feelings. Sadly, a person such as Bridges is not expanding knowledge and understanding, because her method of teaching is to destroy true, open communication of facts and conclusions. She is an arch enemy of critical thinking and rational thought. She has no business having so much influence in any type of higher educational setting.

I think a big percentage of professors in what used to be the top universities in this country are of the same ilk. It started with gaining tenure and voting for a person with your same outlook to be tenured when candidates were up for selection. It used to be you looked up to someone with an Ivy League education, but I don’t any more. A student is indoctrinated in the first few months. It takes a very well grounded young person to not be overcome.

The explicit differences between men and women has never been an issue until now. The denial of these facts would suggest strongly that those who question the evidence are mentally impaired. Perhaps they advanced to their position by another defective product of government, Affirmative Action. Emboldened radicals have taken over academia and were allowed to run unchecked for fear of a frivolous lawsuits. This new type of school bully resides on the the other side of the desk. Does no one have the ability to say enough?
