Thanks for the Confirmation, Gruber

Jedidiah on GruberJonathan Gruber’s remarks should have your blood boiling no matter where you stand on the political spectrum.

A reminder of what the Obamacare technical consultant said:

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that.  In terms of risk-rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed… Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass… Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

Gruber confirmed what many of us have been saying for a long time, that they did what they had to do to get this law passed, even if it meant full-on deceit. That they knew damn well that if they told everyone the truth, it wouldn’t have had a shot in hell. That an administration that promises transparency embraces the opposite. That they think plenty of voters are a bunch of dummies who will believe everything they say. And that they see no problem with lying and manipulating to push through legislation.

And to the media personalities with big microphones who defended the way Obamacare was pushed through without asking any tough questions, guess what? They thought you were a bunch of idiots too. And counted on you doing exactly what you did.

Hope. Change. So refreshing.

Sadly, in a sense Gruber was correct. 20% of Americans don’t graduate high school, and less than 60% graduate college. If the standard is whether or not someone can read the whole Obamacare law, much less comprehend it, than most of the country is stupid. Ultimately, his sin was expressing that observation in such a ham-handed way, on numerous occasions, on video. I would agree that this implies that most members of Congress would qualify as stupid as well. Put the president in that category as well, as he just learned about all of this drama on the news…

Mr. Gruber did not fool me. I have arithmetic skills.

Is Gruber unaware that True American voters did not have a chance to vote on this law?

Everyone involved in developing & writing this atrocity (Obama, Reid, Pelosi, the Emanuel brothers and others), KNEW the people were being lied to. It will be interesting to see if the Liberal media (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, New York Times and others) will air or report on this video. It’s going to be interesting to see the spin they put on it. Republicans/Conservatives are the ones who told the people the TRUTH about Obamacare in the beginning & were scoffed at and criticized. It is also going to be laughable to watch the Democrats squirm l, deny any… Read more »

Jonathan Gruber committed the worst cardinal sin of all Progressive / Socialist / Communist elitists in academia. He dared to say, in plain English and at a public forum, how they view the general public and to what means they are willing to go to in order to accomplish their objectives. Even the most apathetic, tuned-out, self-absorbed citizens of our country would understand exactly what Mr. Gruber was saying. There would be no way for the media to spin it as “the public is mis-interpreting what Mr. Gruber really meant to say” or “critics of Obamacare are taking Mr. Gruber’s… Read more »

Jonathan Gruber confirmed what many of us had already suspected. This administration is one of the most corrupt and dishonest administrations in the history of our nation.

Being in the 50+ category, I (we) have seen this type of manipulation/deceit for decades. It is not limited to Obama, democrats, republicans or any other singular entity. Our political process is so broken, our news media so ratings driven and the public seemingly so ostrich like that we are no longer “upset” with these revelations. Which in itself is sad.
