Scalise

WASHINGTON, DC, Dec 30 — President Biden has been making life difficult, at best, for the average American for the past two years, says Congressman Steve Scalise [R-LA]. In a new interview with Rebecca Weber, CEO of the Association of Mature American Citizens, on her Better For America podcast, he said, “it’s been devastating, especially for hardworking families, lower and middle income families who are struggling under the weight of inflation, energy costs, open border, all brought on by policies pushed by radical big government socialists here in Washington.” He went on to promise that things will begin to change for the better once Republicans take charge of the House of Representatives.

We’re going to “start pushing back,” the House Republican Whip promised. The plan is to “bring bills in the House, once we’re in the majority, to show the country how we can secure the border, how we can actually lower energy costs and lower inflation, get spending in Washington under control, help make sure law enforcement have the tools they need to push back against the defund the police radicals. I think our country is so desperately hungry for real oversight and accountability, for answers to basic questions.  How did COVID originate? Who was behind the debacle in Afghanistan? How many people have come across our open southern border illegally, including how many are on the terrorist watch list? Which states have they been sent to? They won’t answer any of these questions. That’s about to change when we’re in the majority and can have hearings.”

Congressman Scalise pointed out that Republicans will be taking over key committees and that it will give the party the ability to begin getting answers and assigning real accountability.

Scalise vowed to start introducing bills that are long overdue, bills that will make our country energy independent again. “Why should we be begging foreign countries for energy when we can make it here?” He said the fact of the matter is that Joe Biden is not against oil and gas, he’s only against American oil and gas. He sought “to kill the Keystone pipeline, but then he went and greenlighted Russia’s pipeline to Germany, making Europe more dependent on Russian energy. He begged Putin for more oil. He says oil and gas is destroying the planet. Yet he begs countries who emit more carbon to make the same oil, to produce our energy instead of letting America do it. We do it better than anybody else in the world.”

He said people are getting fed up with “these big government socialists who wake up every day and trash America. They beat up on America every day. They teach hatred of America in our schools. They talk about how American energy is so bad, but they fly around on private jets and go to foreign countries and beg them to produce energy instead of us. It makes no sense. It shouldn’t be Saudi or Russia or Venezuela or Iran producing energy that we use. It should be America. And so we’re going to bring bills to show the country how to do that. And, by the way, it will also lower inflation. It’ll lower the cost of energy, not just gasoline at the pump, but in a cold winter like this, the housing costs and electricity costs are going up dramatically. People can’t even keep their homes warm enough during this cold winter because of Biden’s failed energy agenda.”

Scalise then pointed out the most frustrating part of said failed energy agenda – that President Biden could reverse his failed policies with the stroke of a pen and yet he just doesn’t care. However, thanks to the Republican majority, “these are very fixable problems.” They can “start passing bills through the House to show the country how to fix these problems.” And that’s where Scalise encourages Americans to call their senators and let them know what bills they want them to vote for. “You’ve got to let them know ‘this bill is important to me, I want you to vote yes’ and then watch their vote. Hold them accountable for those votes.” With Americans’ involvement and support, Scalise has hope to deliver real answers and accountability that everyone is hungry for.

I wish the republican congress can get their act together to elect the Speaker of the House. 202 republicans have chosen Kevin McCarthy. He needs 218 to be confirmed. There are 20 republican holdouts who oppose him as speaker. Shame on them. We voted for these people to take control away from the democrats to finally turn things around in this country. They now have a majority in the House. By causing this gridlock, they are stopping the republican party from moving forward to get things done. No matter what personal gripe these people have against McCarthy it can wait. We have bigger problems to straighten out in this country. It is time for the republican party to stand united! I noticed the democrat party stood together in unity (even when crazy ideas were thought up). That is what seemed to work for them. Those of you who have one of these holdouts as your representative, Please contact them and tell them to unify in choosing Kevin McCarthy so we can move on with saving America. The democrats must be laughing right now.

I wish AMAC had a current article on today’s clown show in DC. I know it will be stated here in the next 2-3 days. Today, while failing to appoint a House speaker after 3 votes, the Republicans revealed themselves as the party with 2 devout opposing passions:

  1. Freedom Caucus of conservatives 2. Moderates

The media has attempted for months to convince us that Trump, a private citizen now for 2 years, has caused a split in the party. Over the next week or two I doubt we will hear Trump’s name as the republican-led ( maybe) House allowed a minority democrat to outvote the majority. Incredible.
We now see what we have in DC. This party will accomplish nothing. If they somehow pass a bill, Mitch McConnell who is another key reason for republican failure ( again, not Trump) will stop it. I already miss Nancy.
When we send comments to this blog ( and I’m grateful for it) who do we think is paying attention? listen ?

I would very much like to believe all of these Republicans that say how much different things will be when they take control of Congress but there are two points that very much concern me. First, when the Republicans had both houses of Congress and the Presidency besides not much what did they do? Reach across the isle, how did that work out for US? Secondly, with a DEMONCRATIC CONTROLLED SENATE, Congressional RINOS, and a SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST COMRADE DEMANDER AND THEIF, please explain to me how any of these grandiose Republican bills will ever see the light of day much less get to COMRADE Puden’s desk with a snowballs chance in hell to be signed into law by him?

I would absolutely like to believe all of the Republicans that say how much different things will be when they take control of Congress but there are two points that very much concern me. First, in the past when Republicans had everything, what happened, almost nothing. Secondly, with a DEMONCRATIC SENATE and a SOCIALIST/ COMMUNIST Demander and Theif (Joebama Puden), how are these seemingly empty promises (my precception) going to come to pass? I would love to understand.

Scalise means well but it’s not enough to get anything done. Face it we have another year of Socialist big government.
We are not technically able to change our energy needs so let’s open up oil again. And work on new clean energy like fusion power.

Get ready for two years of theatre and huffing and puffing that won’t amount to anything. No one will be held accountable. They don’t have the Senate even if they wanted to pass legislation and they know this. McConnell made sure this wouldn’t happen. See how easy it is for the “GOP” to pretend they’re working for us when they know full well that they don’t have to worry about anything passing. They had a chance to stop this madness in 2020 before it even started but they pretended their way out of it this as well. GOP=Group of Phonies.

We need a secure border. We need to reopen the pipeline and take energy production back.We need to pressure the Dem/Repubs who are worthless. We need to force McConnell to retire. We need to silence Chuck Schumer. We need to address priorities that affect our Citizens. There are so many things to reverse so our kids and grandchildren will enjoy a better life with less stress. And these things I’ve mention are only the tip of the iceberg! Sad thing is we have an administration that are so dumb unless $$$$ fill their pockets…Finally: Dr Fauci…glad to see him go but he needs to be charged for the damage he has done and fined heavily.

Article has a very scary statement “Biden is not against all oil/gas but only American oil/gas”. And Biden has proven this statement by begging other countries to increase oil production & trying to hide the problem by taking oil out of Strategic Oil Reserve .

Good thing we have the GOP to help pass the democrats agenda while pretending to oppose it.
Squabbling over transgender statues and Confederate bathrooms keeps the “voters” distracted but red/blue politics is as fake as tv wrestling.
Voting is the adult version of writing letters to santa claus.

Good grief. Lets look at reality. If the house passes anything, it must be approved by
the DIm Senate so forget it. If by some wonder both houses approve, then good Ole Joe
must sign it and he won’t. So then you have to overcome the Pres veto and that,my friends,
ain’t about to happen. So this republican takeover of the house really means nothing.
Lets just all shut up, go back to work Tues, and pay more taxes. Get it ?

As a devout republican (only because I can’t vote conservative) I don’t believe Scalise’s message.
I think the Repubs will make a lot of noise in Jan-Feb and accomplish nothing. What does that
mean? Firings and jail time are all that matter. To hell with admonishments.

Lets see what happens starting with that Southern Border start to build the wall hire more border agents start to deport the ones that came here with no papers, fire the one that was suppose to secure the border but just full of lies, then STOP SPENDING MONEY for no reason putting us in more debt then that will be a start, then I will believe that this country is heading in a better direction.

I can see how the republicans are “pushing back” with the bipartisan passage of the trillion dollar democratic wish list bill.

My suggestion would be for Republicans who are more conservative to come to the microphones constantly to tell Americans what bills they are offering to show us the good things we are in favor of. Non stop, We should be offering the right kind of goodies, lower taxes, lower regulations, less spending, more liberty for individuals. We should keep flooding the Left with these bills and show Americans how they repeatedly veto them and then let voters know whom to vote for next time.

I have lost faith in the Republican Party (that unfortunately I am a member of). They will never defeat the fricking Dems, because they lack the stones to fight. I am putting the Repubican Party on notice…..I WILL NOT donate to the party anymore, until they grow a back bone. I will not waste my money anymore. I donate more to the charities of my choice who actually do help people.

Sadly i have to say he is part of my party but nothing is going to happen if my party don’t crack down on members of congress house and senate if they do like the senate did agreeing with the democrats rwm bills down out throat and behind closed doors. They only care about making friends with the other side when they are in control just to say to the voters back home look what i brought to you on my voting. With all the fighting going on in the house,we need to find out how much the members fighting for the new speaker has connection with the democrats.

With all due respect Representative Scalise, we’ve heard these promises for too long from our party. The Senate will kill any Republican friendly bills that will embarrass Biden and even if they do pass the Senate, Biden will veto them.

So the Republicans will put forth a number of bills that show, all of which will die in the Democrat controlled Senate, which show the way the Republicans would potentially shift the country back towards some semblance of sanity “IF” they actually had the means to get any of this proposed legislation through both the Democrat controlled Senate and signed into law by the Democrat controlled White House. While nice symbolism, it is not much more than that under the current circumstances. The American people want more than empty symbolism at this point. The Democrats are systematically turning this country into a mirror image of most of the failed and bankrupt countries of western Europe. The American want actual positive results, which legislatively the Republican House is NOT in a position to deliver anytime soon.

The only real ability the Republicans had to influence a Democrat controlled Executive Branch to alter course or arm twist a Democrat controlled Senate was via the power of the purse. However, Mitch McConnell eliminiated that with his support of the $1.7 trillion dollar omnibus bill. Which Biden has signed this morning. Now all the Democrat spending initatives and policies are safely locked into place for fiscal year 2023. Fiscal year 2023 runs through September of 2023 for those of you that don’t keep track of these details. Once again, Republican leadership in Congress, the Turtle Mitch McConnell, has found a way to turn potential victory into complete defeat for 2023.

We could of course try to leverage the power of the purse in 2024, but I expect we’ll hear whining from both McConnell and McCarthy that 2024 is an election year and as such the Republican Party doesn’t want to potentially offend any “moderate voters” by acting too sternly. So net net, yes we have a Republican controlled House, but the only thing we’re likely to see from that is a series of dog and pony show hearings that fundamentally go nowhere.

Happy New Year to all. I know the Democrats will be celebrating this weekend, because they successfully engineered just about every they wanted to accomplish in the last 3 months. On our side however, the Republican Party managed yet again to demonstrate gross incompetence on a grand scale. It takes real skill to not only shoot oneself in the foot, but to reload numerous times and shoot off both legs.

Nice speech Steve and I agree with most of your talking points but, pardon my skepticism, I’ll believe it when I see it. First, you have to convince all of your colleagues, and second, you won’t be able to put the brakes on what the Democrats and Rinos passed in the $1.7 Trillion Omni-Bust.
Moreover, good luck dealing with “The Squad” and those of their ilk. They have the bully pulpit with the MSM, Academia, Hollywood, Woke corporations, and the lion’s share of the alphabet agencies in their back pocket.
