Proposed City Law Would Let Non-Citizens Vote, Reports AMAC

voting_United_States‘Immigrants who built America came here with a desire to participate in the democratic process, not to dismantle it’

WASHINGTON, DC, Apr 17 – Liberal politicians in New York City want to give immigrants who are not yet citizens the right to vote.  The City Council, which is composed overwhelmingly of Democrats, is considering a law that would allow non-citizens to vote in municipal elections, explained Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

“It’s not a joke; it’s a blatant attempt to begin securing the future for progressive government,” Weber said.  “The Council tried before to get the law passed, but was confronted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and backed down.  But, the current Mayor, Bill de Blasio, who was described by liberal TV host Jon Stewart as “the socialist Sasquatch,” is reportedly amenable to letting non-citizens vote.”

It is estimated that there are some one million non-citizens living in New York City.  “That’s more than enough to boost de Blasio’s chances to win a second term—especially for a mayor whose first term has been fraught with controversy and whose popularity is waning.  But the right to vote is the distinct province of citizens and it is the height of cynicism to diminish its value for personal political gain.”

Weber noted that the proposed law would allow non-citizens to vote only in municipal elections.  “But it provides no mechanism for ensuring that voters will stick to the rules.  Both citizens and non-citizens would be using the same polling places and the same ballot boxes.  There would be nothing to stop non-citizens from casting ballots for those seeking House and Senate seats or from voting for the next president.  It would facilitate voter fraud on a massive scale in state and federal elections.  And, that is why it should be of concern not just to those who live in New York City but also among those of us in the rest of the nation.”

Those who support the proposed law claim that residents who are not yet citizens are unfairly disenfranchised.  They say that they are a large and important part of the population and that they are unfairly “unrepresented” because they cannot vote.  But in a recent editorial by Tom Wrobleski, political editor of the Staten Island Advance, he cited a 2014 report by the Colin Powell School of Civic and Global Leadership at CUNY [City University of New York].  It pointed out that the lack of representation is only temporary until citizenship is achieved.

“The immigrants who built America came here with a desire to participate in the democratic process, not to dismantle it,” Weber pointed out.  “New Americans are welcomed when they first arrive and they are encouraged to take the path to citizenship that their predecessors took.  These efforts to disrupt the process are an outrage.  They make a mockery of our nation’s history and our future.”

The Association of Mature American Citizens [] is a vibrant, vital and conservative alternative to those organizations, such as AARP, that dominate the choices for mature Americans who want a say in the future of the nation.  Where those other organizations may boast of their power to set the agendas for their memberships, AMAC takes its marching orders from its members.  We act and speak on their behalf, protecting their interests, and offering a conservative insight on how to best solve the problems they face today.  Live long and make a difference by joining us today at

As far as I am concerned, non – citizens should not be allowed to vote in any election. Voting should be one of
many incentives to becoming a citizen.

I have not read all the comments so this may be repeat. I unreservedly agree that in general non-citizens should not have a right to vote. However I contend that non-citizens who are Permanent Residents (aka ‘Green Card’ holders) should be permitted to vote in city/municipal/county elections in the area where they reside or are part of a included community. As a LEGAL Permanent Resident who completed the whole process of immigration in ADVANCE OF ARRIVING IN THE USA I have paid city/county taxes for several decades but have no voice in the investment or development proposals funded by these… Read more »

My grandparents immigrated to America in the latter part of the 19th century. They did not come to our great nation for the purpose of colonization, nor did they attempt to usurp our laws and insert their own. They legally applied for citizenship and after over a decade citizenship was granted. In the period prior to citizenship, they had to learn our language, and about our laws and system of government. They could not vote in any election until they were granted citizenship. To propose a local law which grants voting rights to non citizens is is ludicrous and unconstitutional.… Read more »

My only comment – Stop commenting – start taking action. You think whining & voting is enough? – look what the commies want to do with the vote! All future comments should be about organizing conservative chaos in the liberal environment – create Web-sites to coordinate action. Use Social media to create mayhem for the Libs. If you are retired, act like a hippie and organize sit-ins If you are a lawyer, provide free service to conservative activists. If you are LEO, provide security to conservative activists. March, obstruct, deny, get active about saving your country. .Action – Action –… Read more »

This is all part of the program that the lapdogs in Washington put forth. The political ruling class refuse to shut down the borders while Islamo-Nazis are pouring into our country. We the people say NO……they say YES! Even after we got hit on 9/11 the borders remain open. They won’t even admit that radical Muslims are at the root of the problem.

I have no faith in any government agency coming forward to protect us, our rights as citizens or the Constitution for that matter. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, your comments listed above.

So, instead of weighing in on the issue by commenting, I ask……WHAT DO/CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? Can you delineate a strategy for your members? I hope this organization does nor become another AARP by advocating one set of principles and then contributing to the causes that we oppose.

None of us is safe. More than 30 years ago I read a book entitled “The Cuckoo’s Egg.” The Cuckoo lays it’s egg in any other bird’s nest. The result was the first known case of computer hacking in the United States. A fascinating book. A quick read. Very illuminating. And where are we today? Banks hacked, credit card accounts hacked. PayPal hacked. Bank accounts emptied. Debit card numbers and pins stolen by electronics. Facebook hacked. Illegal immigration is like the Cuckoo’s Egg. It’s the democrats back door entry into the U.S. and a blank check to being welcomed into… Read more »

Why is anyone surprised that a city like New York, under rule by a Marxist sympathizer like de Blasio, would look to afford rights to people who have not earned them. The Democratic party is built on a platform of taking from those who have earned and providing to those who have not earned. Whether it is the redistribution of wealth through many of the welfare programs or the redistribution of rights from citizens to non-citizens the socialists are not interested in the constitution or the rule of law, they are simply interested in ruling. Unfortunately, despite significant gains in… Read more »

Here’s the reality folks… America has endured decades of cultural rot because our collective moral compass has been hidden away. Judeo/Christian values have been, and continue to be, censured in every societal venue by very vocal, very well-funded, and very “anti-God (Christ)” elitists. This voting issue in NYC is just a symptom of a bigger problem. In other words, we are swatting at gnats while neglecting the stinging hornets. Judeo/Christian values must be instilled and taught by parents and grandparents during the formative years of childhood and adolescence. How many children, teens, and young adults do not have a strong… Read more »

If a measure like this were to be passed, then all Federal and state (whatever state it is passed in) should immediately be halted. At no point should a non-citizen have a say in how public funds are spent! The continued watering down of what citizenship means by the democratic and liberal entities is demoralizing!

Remember the childhood story, “If You Give A Mouse A Cooky”. Well, I hate to say it folks, but the lying politicians gave the illegal “sneaks” a box of “cookies”. First the liars said, “we’re just going to give them a driver’s license”, so they will driver safer, legally and with insurance. (Anyone checked to see how that worked out?) Then the politicians said, well, it’s not fair to keep the families separated, so now they are allowing them to bring their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and God knows who else in. Then they said, “Hey! It’s not humane to… Read more »

Letting illegals vote in a U.S. election is insane. I also think that all people that are eligible voters should have to have a legal I.D. If they have no I. D. that proves that they are eligible then they do not vote.It needs to be enforced. I cannot believe democrats .Their only agenda is to get elected at any cost.Anything goes.WHAT CAN WE DO ?

Obummer has just about destroyed us, along with the rest of the A-hole Damned-o-crats that support him and his destructive ways. There was NO reason that this should have happened, but the left wing, lazy, worthless part of our population WANTS free stuff. Who the hell do they think is going to pay for all of this??

I am truly ashamed to belong to the generation that dismantled this nation, even though I did not vote for OB. To those of you who did vote for him………..why did you not take the time to study this man’s background, and realize that he has already a plan in place to destroy this nation? To vote for him once, that’s a huge mistake. To vote for him a second time is pure ignorance.

AMAC is just another “arm” of AARP – and will eventually cave to political correctness over style. The Obama presidency has vastly changed America — its people, its policies; its politics and even its morals. When Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally change America” he should have been taken at face value. I’m afraid we’ll never return to the way things were or should be. The Dems are ensuring votes for their candidates by hook or by crook – and nothing seems able to stop it. It’s convenient to legalize Hispanics since they are so plentiful and prolific. We should all… Read more »

This is just one more reason why any rational taxpayer
should leave the city. The only problem is that when the
city goes bankrupt the U.S. government taxpayer will
be told, not asked, to pay the bill. Politicians from the
city of New York should shunned and the city put on
the no go list of any taxpaying tourist. The media will
most probably play this up as one more move to true
democracy. In reality it is one more move toward the
diminishing the rights of American Citizens.

That is absurd. If your not a citizen of the United States of America, you don’t have the right to vote, PERIOD.

The democrats will do anything to get a vote, including selling out their own state to illegals. Way to go. Hope you are proud of what the democratic party has become

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
