On March 23rd, World Athletics, the international governing body for athletics, announced that biological men will no longer be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Sebastian Coe, president of the World Athletics Council, held a press conference to announce the decision.

The council has agreed to exclude male-to-female transgender athletes who have been through male puberty from female world ranking competitions, from March the 31st this year. However, in order to do further research into transgender eligibility guidelines, we will be establishing a working group whose remit will be to consult specifically with transgender athletes to seek views on competing in athletics, to review and maybe commission additional research where there is currently limited research, and put forward recommendations to council. The working group will include an independent chair, up to three council members, two athletes from the Athletes Commission, a transgender athlete from athletics, three representatives of our member federations, and representatives of the World Athletics Health and Science department.”

He revealed reasons for the decision came from feedback within their community. “The majority of those consulted have stated that transgender athletes should not be competing in the female category. Many believe there is insufficient evidence that transwomen do not retain advantages over biological women and more evidence than any physical advantages must be ameliorated before they are willing to consider an option for inclusion into the female category. Where the science is insufficient to justify maintaining testosterone suppression for transgender athletes, the council agreed it must be guided by our overarching principle which is to protect the female category.”

This decision is long overdue, but nonetheless a welcomed step in the right direction. While the eye test would have been sufficient to conclude transwomen will always retain an advantage over biological women since testosterone-reducing treatments have zero impact on things such as height or skeletal structure, numerous studies over the past few years have proven that transwomen hold significant advantages over biological females. And of those testosterone-reducing treatments, additional studies have shown that medications prescribed to lower testosterone do not reduce levels enough to equal biological females.

Still, this decision is far from a final win for the commonsense crowd. Last year, a senior on the Virginia Tech women’s swim team, Reka Gyorgy, missed qualifying for the NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships by one roster spot due to biological male Lia Thomas being allowed to compete in the race. One year later, the NCAA rules remain unchanged, meaning instances such as this can continue to happen indefinitely.

But even if groups were to go back and remove biological male records from the record and retroactively award 2nd place finishers, who are biologically female, with first place, the moment they sacrificed countless hours to prepare for has already been wrongly taken from them.

In 2019, transwoman Mary Gregory of Virginia shattered the world squat record, open world bench record, masters world deadlift record, and masters world total record. Female world records, which Mary is not. The “100% Raw Powerlifting Federation” went on to strip Mary of all records broken, and trophies received. Was this the best way to right that specific wrong? Absolutely. But did that make the moment dreamed of by the biological women who were competing, where they were crowned as champion after countless hours of dedication, suddenly become real? No, and it never will no matter how much remedying is done after the fact. Which is why biological males competing in female sports needs to end in all areas immediately before more female athletes are victimized by this not-even-believable, woke lunacy that is further fueling tensions across America and the entire globe.

World Athletics’ recent decision is a good start. Let’s hope it is only a preview of more to come.
