How’s your Shakespeare?
Or just your ancient history?
Have you seen the British bards’s play Julius Caesar? Do you know what happened to the most famous Roman leader, on March 15th, 44BC, the Ides of March?
On that day, on the floor of the Roman Senate, Gaius Julius Caesar was stabbed more than 20 times by the then politicians of that great Empire.
Why should you care?
Because the Democrats have used that actual event to recently execute what the usually very sober Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway has called “Assassination Prep Ops.”
In one weekend the editorial board of the New York Times and the Washington Post published pieces claiming that the re-election of President Trump would lead to a “dictatorship” in America, and the Atlantic magazine dedicated its latest issue to the authoritarian threat of a second Trump term.
And as if some mandatory talking points had been issued by some Central Committee of Democrats, Never-Trumpers and RINOs, at the same time these articles just happened to be simultaneously released, the likes of Trump-haters such as Liz Cheney, John Bolton, and Anne Applebaum gave cable TV interviews demanding that Nikki Hayley run as a 3rd party candidate to sabotage Trump lest the “fascist” bring authoritarianism to America.
There are two obvious problems with these Cassandra-like warnings.
Firstly, President Trump has already held the office of Chief Executive. For 4 years. That’s why he’s running again, as is his right, to serve a second term.
During those four years, President Trump never used the FBI to raid his predecessors’ home at gun point. He didn’t have federal agents arrest a former President’s adviser at Reagan airport and put him in leg-shackles for a contempt of Congress charge. And he didn’t have the feds spy on innocent Americans attending school meetings. These fascistic acts were only taken under the current Biden Administration. If there is a threat of authoritarianism in America, it’s not prospective, it’s now.
President Trump’s home at Mar a Lago was raided on a spurious allegation concerning “classified documents.” Peter Navarro was arrested then strip-searched and put in the same cell John Hinckley, the man who tried to kill President Ronald Reagan, was held in. And, as courageous FBI whistleblower Kyle Seraphin has testified, the Bureau surveilled Americans and classed them as domestic threats simply because they are Catholics.
These are the acts of a police-state where the most powerful parts of government, the men with badges and guns, are deployed against those who disagree politically with their masters.
The second is perhaps even worse.
In the 5,000+ word screed the Washington Post published, left-wing intellectual grandee, Robert Kagan, wrote the following about the 45th President of the United States: “When a marauder is crashing through your house, you throw everything you can at him.” Really? Everything?
In case his Democrat readers don’t understand what has to be done, Kagan spells it out: “Like Caesar, Trump wields a clout that transcends the laws and institutions of government, based on the unswerving personal loyalty of his army of followers.” President Trump is a proto-Caesar. And you remember what the “good guys” did to him, right?
Think it sounds far-fetched? Promoting the need to kill a former and potentially future head-of-sate? How about the fact that we have a dark history in our nation of men of the left killing the prominent for political reasons? From the Democrat, John Wilkes Booth, who killed our first ever Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, because he emancipated the nation’s slaves? Or the avowed Communist and Soviet defector, Lee Harvey Oswald, who gunned down the ardent anti-Communist John F. Kennedy ? Or Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian extremist who slew his brother RFK because he was pro-Israel? Or how about more recently?
Do you know who James Hodgkinson is? Or rather was? He was the Bernie Sanders campaign volunteer who took a Soviet SKS rifle and a kill-list of Republican congressmen to a baseball field near DC to kill as many Conservatives as possible, almost succeeding in assassinating Majority Whip Steve Scalise before he was himself killed by two brave police officers.
Then, of course, there’s the plot on the life of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Nicholas Roske, pro-Abortion radical Democrat traveled from California to Justice Kavanaugh’s Virginia home with a Glock 9mm, a knife and zip-ties to immobilize and then kill Kavanaugh, his wife and his children. Why? Because the Trump nominee was pro-life.
All the way from John Wilkes Booth through Lee Harvey Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan to James Hodgkinson, and Nicholas Roske, the Democrat Party has an established history of assassinating, or trying to assassinate, Conservative Americans, simply because they are Conservatives.
And now they are screaming from the rooftops – and from the pages of the mainstream media – that if Americans democratically choose Trump once again as their President, then “democracy will die.” So, someone else should die instead.
An exaggeration? Why is Robert Kagan talking about Trump as Caesar and demanding we “throe everything” at him as if he’s a home-invader? If it were an exaggeration then why did the Shakespeare in the Park theater company dress the historic Caesar as Donald Trump, in a modern blue suit, blonde wig and red tie, just to have him be stabbed to death every night in front of hundreds of Americans? I repeat: they dressed the actor playing Caesar to look like the President before he was “killed” nightly.
Mollie Hemingway is right. The Left is normalizing the idea that the man who has garnered more than 130 million votes in two elections will be America’s first dictator and he must be stopped.
At all costs.
Pray for President Trump, his family, and the Secret Service agents sworn to protect him and his loved ones.
