REPORT: Biden CIA Labeled “Traditional Motherhood” as Sign of “Extremism”

According to newly released documents, the Biden Central Intelligence Agency labeled support for “motherhood” and “homemaking” as potential indicators of “extremist” activity – yet another example of the administration’s shocking hostility toward conservative values that Americans are just now learning about.

As America First Legal first reported, the Trump administration recently retracted a document titled “Women Advancing White Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist Radicalization and Recruitment.” The CIA “intelligence assessment,” produced in 2021, made highly disturbing allegations about supposed links between traditional motherhood and right-wing political extremism. The motherhood assessment is just one of 19 documents that Trump CIA Director John Ratcliffe retracted because of shoddiness and deep bias.

The CIA assessment specifically labels one group as dangerous because it promotes “motherhood and homemaking as women’s most important responsibility.” The agency also warned that women might be manipulated by videos discussing things like eating healthy organic food, which the CIA said might contain “subtle narratives about white purity.”

Upon its public release, the document drew widespread condemnation, particularly from conservative women who mocked the CIA for calling them extremists for desiring to stay at home with their kids.

The Heritage Foundation’s Emma Waters said that the goal of such narratives linking traditional motherhood to extremism is to “destabilize and control a population.” In an incisive essay, Waters asked why mothers are being targeted given that children “are the least likely to commit violent crimes” when raised by a married mother and father.

Attacking the family is how malignant actors will undermine the country, Waters argued.

Women, she said, are warriors, but not in the way the CIA and the Biden administration portrayed them. She said it indeed is “subversive” to the power of the government to remain “faithful at home, because a woman who places first things first is equipped to fight every battle, in every arena, that comes her way.”

Other moms also highlighted just how dangerous the CIA’s assessment was, pointing out that Biden could have used it to target innocent people for simply believing that traditional motherhood is a good thing.

“Women who want to stay at home, be a wife and mom, is a new value, birthed by those neo-Nazi groups!” Mary Chastain with Legal Insurrection wrote sarcastically. “No woman has ever wanted to do that before.”

She further notes that the document creates “wiggle room” for intelligence agencies to target anyone who shares content that the CIA deems “dangerous.” For instance, if a mom in a Facebook group shares a post about the joys of homemaking, everyone in that group could be tagged as a potential threat by the CIA for being “sympathetic” to supposedly “extremist” content.

“I’m [totally] not a target, right? RIGHT? I’m a traditionalist,” Chastain said. “I honestly believe that a woman should stay home once she has children.”

But perhaps the most disturbing part about the CIA’s anti-motherhood “assessment” is how it fits into the Biden administration’s broader pattern of treating Americans who live out traditional or conservative values as a threat to the country.

At the same time the CIA was warning about stay-at-home moms, the Department of Justice under Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland also infamously authored and distributed a memo that asked federal law enforcement to work with local leaders to target parents who spoke out at school board meetings as potential threats.

That memo came in response to a letter from the National School Boards Association which accused parents and other concerned citizens of “domestic terrorism” for exercising their First Amendment freedoms on issues like opposing radical left-wing ideology being taught in classrooms or allowing boys to use female restrooms and locker rooms, as AMAC Newsline previously reported.

The Biden FBI, using eerily similar language to the CIA assessment, also labeled Catholics who carry a rosary or participate in the Latin Mass as potential extremists. That “analysis” was based largely on an article in left-wing magazine The Atlantic. (Notably, the CIA also heavily cited The Atlantic as a primary source to justify targeting moms.)

The FBI informed field offices across the country that other signs of extremism included being pro-life or supporting “conservative family values/roles” – in other words, the views held by millions of Christians and other religious Americans.

In many cases, the Biden administration’s anti-Christian and anti-traditionalist animus didn’t stop at mere “assessments.” Even as the Biden FBI failed to levy charges against the rash of violent attacks on churches and pro-life pregnancy centers following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the agency did imprison pro-life grandmas for praying outside abortion clinics and terrorized pro-life activist Mark Houck’s family after Houck defended his son from a violent pro-abortion protester.

The harms from the Biden administration’s targeting of Americans go beyond the trampling of their civil liberties, America First Legal warned.

“Biased intelligence products like this undermine Americans’ confidence in the federal government,” the group said.

They also make the country less safe by focusing law enforcement efforts on benign issues while ignoring serious issues. “This is what happens when woke ideology replaces actual threat-based intelligence collection and analysis,” Gene Hamilton, president of America First Legal, told the Daily Signal.

“We should never forget how deep the rot went,” Hamilton said.

This is why it is not enough to simply retract some documents and criticize them. As Trump highlighted so often on the campaign trail in 2024, a sweeping overhaul is necessary to clear out the rot and permanently bar all subversive agents from government employment.

Otherwise, the Deep State actors in the intelligence community know they can simply hide away at Langley for a few years until a Democrat comes back into office and empowers them to again weaponize the government against Christians, concerned parents, stay-at-home moms, and anyone who opposes their left-wing political agenda.
