Fruit Yogurt Parfait

A parfait describes a custard-like or ice cream dessert with fruit or syrup or a yogurt or custard-based treat with fruit and granola. For our fruit yogurt parfait recipe, we are featuring Greek-style yogurt as our base. Each family member can create their own parfait layers, using whatever fruit is most appealing to them. It can be served with breakfast – or enjoyed any time of the day as a nutritious snack!

Here are some basic ingredients you’ll need:

Directions:

In an attractive wide-mouthed fluted glass, place a layer of granola on the bottom. Top with a layer of yogurt. Then add a layer of berries and sliced bananas. Repeat layers until glass is nearly full. Drizzle honey over the final layer and finish with shaved coconut or dark chocolate bits if desired. Enjoy.

Chef’s note:

Greek yogurt is recommended in this recipe due to its creamy texture. It also has tart and tangy qualities, making it an ideal pairing for fruit and granola. This parfait can be served as a breakfast or healthy dessert option. Not a fan of berries or bananas? Simply substitute the fruit for sliced peaches, pears or apples. Or add your favorite nuts if preferred.

Good to know:

Per the kitchn, Greek yogurt has been strained to remove the liquid whey. This results in double the amount of protein as regular yogurt. They explain, “Although traditionally Greek yogurt is made only with full-fat milk, you’ll find everything from full-fat to nonfat choices available.”
