Dear Representatives Hasenbeck and Seifried,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), representing over 2.1 million members nationwide, including more than 29,000 members residing in Oklahoma, I write in support of House Bill 3242 regarding privacy protections in educational facilities and related events.
For many Americans, preserving standards of privacy, safety, and respect in public and educational spaces remains an important community value. AMAC Action members often view these issues not only through the lens of current policy discussions, but also through their concern for the wellbeing of children, grandchildren, and future generations.
Many of our members are parents and grandparents who care deeply about ensuring that schools and educational environments maintain clear expectations that help students, families, and school personnel feel secure, respected, and protected. AMAC Action members consistently express support for policies that establish reasonable safeguards and reinforce privacy protections in sensitive spaces such as restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities designated for girls and women.
HB 3242 would strengthen existing efforts to ensure student safety while reinforcing standards for appropriate conduct within educational environments. The legislation also aligns with Oklahoma Statute ยง21-1021, which prohibits indecent exposure in public places and applies equally to all individuals.
As a national grassroots organization, AMAC Action remains committed to educating and engaging our Oklahoma members on legislation impacting families, community standards, and the wellbeing of future generations. We appreciate your leadership on this important issue and your continued efforts to uphold privacy, safety, and respect for Oklahoma students, families, and communities.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Bengtson
Vice President
