The Medical Freedom Act protects informed consent, transparency, and patient autonomy within the medical system while promoting freedom, accountability, and respect for individual rights.

The Honorable Clay Yarborough
4th District of Florida
308 Senate Building
404 South Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1100

Dear Senator Yarborough,

On behalf of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens’ 2 million-plus members, including over 159,000 residing in the great state of Florida, I write to express our strong support for Senate Bill 1756, the Medical Freedom Act, currently under consideration during the 2026 Regular Session.

Florida’s seniors have long believed in personal responsibility, limited government interference, and the right of individuals and families to make informed decisions about their own healthcare. SB 1756 meaningfully advances these principles by reinforcing informed consent, transparency, and patient autonomy within our medical system.

We support the bill’s provisions requiring clear, standardized disclosure to parents and legal guardians before vaccines are administered to minors. Seniors understand the importance of medical decision-making grounded in full information and trust, and we believe families, not government bureaucracies, must remain at the center of these decisions. SB 1756 also appropriately protects healthcare practitioners who, in good faith, prescribe or administer ivermectin to adult patients. Florida’s seniors value the preservation of physician judgment and patient choice, especially when practitioners are acting responsibly and within the scope of their training. Allowing pharmacists to dispense ivermectin as a behind-the-counter medication further promotes access while maintaining safeguards.

We support the bill’s requirement that the Department of Health make religious and conscience-based immunization exemption forms readily available. Protecting freedom of conscience is a cornerstone of our constitutional values and should never be obscured by unnecessary administrative hurdles. Finally, we strongly support the good-faith estimate requirement for non-emergency medical services. Seniors living on fixed incomes deserve transparency in healthcare pricing, and this provision promotes fiscal responsibility, accountability, and informed consumer choice.

SB 1756 reflects the values held by many Florida seniors: freedom, accountability, and respect for individual rights. Thank you for your continued service to the people of Florida.

Sincerely,

Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
