“Last Thursday, I spoke about the pain and disruption this pandemic has caused this past year.
“I also discussed the optimistic springtime that lies before us.
“This brighter horizon is not a product of a partisan bill that was signed last week… or an administration that was sworn in less than two months ago.
“It was built by the American people, and supported by the five historic and completely bipartisan bills that Congress passed last year.
“Later on Thursday, the nation heard remarks from President Biden. The president spoke in a heartfelt way about grief and loss. But his vision for the days ahead was badly lacking.
“Along a number of crucial dimensions, the Biden Administration keeps trying to rewrite recent history and overrule science.
“Take vaccinations.
“The President’s speech tried to reinforce the myth that his administration inherited a shambles on vaccines, set goals that nobody believed were achievable, and has met those goals against all odds.
“This is just not true.
“The President said, quote, ‘I set a goal that many of you said was… way over the top.’ But the benchmark of 100 million vaccines in 100 days was not some audacious goal that was met with great skepticism.
“A million shots per day was just the pace that the Biden Administration inherited. We averaged more than a million shots per day the week of the Inauguration. We totaled more than 1.5 million the day President Biden was sworn in.
“The groundwork we laid last year is proving an historic success. Where the Biden Administration is continuing to help streamline distribution, they should of course get some credit. But their effort to sprint to the front of this year-long campaign should not fool anybody.
“The President announced another supposedly audacious goal on Thursday: That all adults in all 50 states should be eligible to schedule vaccinations by May 1st.
“Here’s the problem: Dr. Fauci said a month ago that we’d be there by April.
“Quote: ‘I would imagine by the time we get to April, that will be what I would call… ‘open season’… namely, virtually everybody and anybody in any category could start to get vaccinated.’ That was Dr. Fauci’s prediction last month.
“So the President’s announcement of May 1st wasn’t ambitious good news; it was a walk-back.
“Something tells me that if the last Administration had contradicted Dr. Fauci and pushed a vaccine milestone back a whole month, we might have heard about it from the media.
“Then there is K-12 schooling. For months, science has confirmed that schools are remarkably safe and do not surge transmission of the virus.
“This Administration’s own experts amplified this before liberal politics got in the way.
“In early February, President Biden’s CDC director specifically said vaccinating the grown-ups who work in schools should not be a prerequisite for reopening them.
“But on Thursday, instead of calling for schools to reopen right now, the President endorsed Big Labor’s moving goalposts.
“He said that because the Democrats passed their spending plan, and because he’s tried to move teachers toward the front of the line for vaccines, now schools can move toward re-opening.
“This approach has put liberal interest-group politics ahead of vulnerable kids and their parents.
“It was reported last week that the following message was posted in a private online group for members of one public-school union in California. Quote:
“Friendly reminder: If you are planning any trips for Spring Break, please keep that off of social media. It is hard to argue that it is unsafe for in-person instruction if parents and the public see vacation photos and international travel.” End quote.
“Further reports from California suggest some local governments may consider using some of the massive bailouts that Democrats sent them on bonuses.
“Reportedly, one union argues that grown-ups should get bonuses for things like, quote, ‘an airplane trip to Hawaii when this is all over.’
“A lot of working-class families in this country are struggling through untenable situations, in large part thanks to the liberal dogma that schools have needed lots more cash to become safe.
“And now unions are talking about trips to Hawaii?
“Every day that the Biden Administration does not urge schools to reopen safely right now with simple precautions, it hurts kids who cannot afford these moving goalposts.
“President Biden also made news with a big proclamation that maybe, if citizens behave themselves, we’ll be able to have small outdoor gatherings by July 4th.
“He made sure to stipulate that politicians reserve the right to clamp down again. But the carrot dangled before Americans was small outdoor gatherings about four months from now.
“This was bizarre and problematic on several levels.
“Number one, let’s be clear: The federal government does not instruct free citizens how they may gather in small groups with their own families.
“I’ve advocated strongly for following science, wearing masks, and taking all the precautions throughout this pandemic.
“The White House confers a bully pulpit. It does not confer supreme authority over daily life.
“Let’s not forget that, about 10 months ago, many liberal politicians applauded massive outdoor gatherings because they supported a political cause.
“I’m not sure how much capital these officials have to micromanage backyard barbecues.
“Number two, this strange proclamation was out of step with science.

“Americans are getting vaccines. They’ve learned about this disease. They’ve learned about the low risks of outdoor transmission. They are making their own determinations as free people.
“Look — I have been a consistent advocate for following the science, wearing a mask, and taking precautions. I believe we should all keep following the science.
“Nobody wants to fumble the ball on the five-yard line.
“But that doesn’t just mean citizens. It means politicians too. And science doesn’t only run in the direction of more restrictions.
“The American people were told 12 months ago that accepting major disruptions for a limited time would flatten the curve and prevent a healthcare collapse.
“And Americans rose to the occasion.
“One year on, if the President and his administration want to continue to give advice to free citizens, I suggest they exit the alternate universe… stick to the actual science… and get acquainted with where the American people actually are.”
The Democrats have found a way to corral and control the American public and they will stretch this “crisis” out as long as the American people allow them to. That should hopefully be obvious to most of us by now. If not, then please continue to hang on every word coming out of Washington when you MAY BE ALLOWED a little bit of freedom back, if you behave.
President Trump instituted Project Warp Speed to cut through the bureaucratic red tape and antiquated methodologies of 50, 60 years years ago (when many of these bureaucratic rules were created) that normally limits any potential vaccine development and production to a four to five year time horizon. He also funded six pharma companies, to the tune of a billion dollars each, to move the process along and lock in the production for any vaccine developed for the American people. The result is two vaccines were developed, tested and approved for use within 10 months. With the third J&J vaccine becoming available a month and a half latter. People were actually starting to be vaccinated in 2020 according to the schedule we are still largely following today. Despite what Biden or Fauci may now claim. An amazing achievement the Democrats will never acknowledge. To them, this is just another “crisis” to milked for all it’s worth.
I’ve read reports, from several credible sources, that the Democrats will continue this “emergency situation” well into 2022 (another election year for those who can’t connect the dots), if not longer if the American people continue to allow it. Most medical professionals I have spoken with agree this Covid-19 crisis is being milked at this point, given both vaccines and therapeutics are available at this point and large segments of the most at-risk population are either already vaccinated or being vaccinated. The entire country should be opening back up fully as more and more people are vaccinated. Not just the red states.
To the Democrats this “crisis” is the perfect means to achieve most of their socialist goals without most of the public ever recognizing it. Case in point, the latest Covid-19 relief bill that just passed. $1.9 trillion dollars of which only 9 percent was in any way Covid related with 91 percent being Democrat pay-offs and wish list items, that would have never stood a chance of being approved in “normal times”. Think people and stop rolling over to the Democrats. It’s our country they are wrecking.

From what I have seen and read from many doctors, the masks do very little to stop the virus. One put it this way: It’s like trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence. As for Fauci; do some research , he has a vested interest in seeing that lots of vaccinations are taken. I’ve been over this virus for a while. I don’t wear a mask unless I absolutely have to. They are actually bad for your health. They decrease oxygen intake, increase toxin inhalation, shuts down immune system, increases virus risk, and is scientifically inaccurate. Just saying this to say: this disease is bad , but they are making it sound like doomsday when it is not. People would be well advised to do there own research to find the real truth. You won’t get it from politicians or the mainstream media.

My wife and I are in our mid-80s and have completed two of the Pfizer shots. Neither of us had any after affects from either of them. Both of us are in the high risk category, she for her heart, me for my lungs. We continue to wear masks in retail stores because the local county requires it, plus we don’t want to make those who believe in them feel uncomfortable around us. Like everything in this country uninformed scare mongers go on social media and spread untrue or exaggerated stories that do not apply to most people. The sooner most people get their shots the sooner we can all go back to enjoying life again.

I read through all the comments, before deciding to post one. First, I agree with the fact that the lockdowns created an economical situation, which needs addressing. Second, I gather that all these naysayers to both the vaccine and mask-wearing rules don’t really interact with people in any service-related field because they just don’t. One thing this last year brought up very drastically in my eyes was the big difference in the attitude of people who are #MEFIRST, versus those of us who have provided any service to these individuals–you all know who you are—What would they do if no one provided them a service. Another thing brought forth was how bad daily hygiene level for basic cleaning was–why did we need to run out of toilet paper and cleaning supplies if we always had them at home in stock–Who except a #MEFIRSTperson buys a roll at a time–and I am not talking about a person on a limited income, either. I am not enjoying what is going on under the current administration and I don’t see access to vaccination for those who need it getting easier. That 22% of the population that is vaccinated has most of the money wealth yet also complains that they have been stagnated in their daily lives because they can’t be doing their ideal life—because they have to stay home. Well, they didn’t work long hours prior to 2020 because they were too busy traveling or seeing relatives. I have kept more in touch with people in 2020 than I did before. And now Biden wants to raise taxes. He better word to taxation to include classifications income that rich people hid their tax liability in so people like Nancy Pelosi pay their fair share and the burden doesn’t fall to those of us who barely make ends meet.

So much here. The first problem is that this whole thing got politicized early on. This has tainted the “science”. Politicians say they “follow the science” not because they are, but because it’s a way of saying you’re not allowed to question what they are doing. The “science” they follow is selected to reenforce their policy positions; they are really just following political science. So whenever a politician, or unfortunately anyone these days, says they are “following the science”, it should be taken with several grains of salt. That being said:
It saddens me to see how easily the American people have been frightened into compliance. It is long past time to recognize that, although this pandemic is real, it is not nearly as dangerous as it was portrayed to be and get back to something appoaching normal. (And we have significant reasons to believe that even the death toll has been exaggerated.) It is past time to stop being compliant and push back.
I just wish Trump took the virus more serious last April, May and June. If so, he would have won the 2020 election hands down, without controversy..
