North Carolina’s ‘Bathroom Bill’ Protects Privacy Rights, says AMAC

In a startling move against Pat McCrory, the Governor of North Carolina, who recently signed a bill to protect the privacy of individuals, a number of National companies demanded the Governor to be Politically Correct.

The following companies have threatened North Carolina with economic retaliation for barring men from going into Ladies rest rooms, locker rooms and other facilities that have separate facilities for each gender:

Here’s a list of companies that have come out against the newly signed law:

  • Salesforce
  • Bank of America
  • American Airlines
  • Microsoft
  • Apple
  • RedHat
  • PayPal
  • Google
  • Lowe’s Home Improvement
  • NBA
  • NCAA
  • MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America)
  • Disney
  • ESPN
  • Marvel
  • Facebook
  • Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • BB&T Ballpark
  • Biogen
  • DOW Chemical Company
  • Citrix
  • Bayer
  • NC Policy Watch
  • IBM
  • Burt’s Bees
  • Duke University
  • Wake Forest University
  • SAS Institute

AMAC wonders if these companies are now allowing men to use the ladies rooms in their retail locations?

This list is being updated as more companies come out against the new law. Please email hello@heat.io to make corrections to this information or if you’d like to be included on our above list, be sure to include a written statement.

AMAC’s Press Release on the ‘Bathroom Bill’

‘Challenging an individual’s right to privacy when using a bathroom is no laughing matter.’

WASHINGTON, DC, Apr 1 – North Carolina’s so-called ‘bathroom bill’ is causing quite a stir pitting defenders of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities against folks who think only ladies should be allowed in the Ladies’ Room and only men should be allowed in the Men’s Room.

“The law supposedly violates the rights of individuals with alternative sexual preferences, particularly anatomically correct men who see themselves as women and women who wish they were men.  But what about the rights of the rest of us?  Americans overwhelmingly seek a modicum of privacy when we need to use the toilet or take a shower or use the locker room to change into gym clothes?  The way a person thinks of himself or herself sexually is not an issue.  Their thoughts are theirs alone as are the thoughts of traditionalists who find it intrusive and offensive to be forced to use communal bathrooms, shower rooms and locker rooms,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

Weber said he was sad to see the amusement with which such a sensitive issue was greeted when New York Governor Andrew Cuomo banned state travel to North Carolina earlier this week in protest to the bathroom bill.  “Challenging an individual’s right to privacy when using a bathroom, as Mr. Cuomo is doing, is no laughing matter.”

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory insists that the law is not discriminatory.  The law does not take away or infringe on anyone’s rights, he said.  However, he added: “Would you want a man to walk into your daughter’s shower, and legally be able to do that?  I happen to disagree with that.”

Meanwhile, McCrory’s office quickly distributed a Fact Sheet pointing out, among other things, that the law does not limit or prohibit private sector companies from adopting their own set of bathroom rules.  Nor does it leave the LGBT community without protections.  In addition, private businesses have the right to allow mixed use bathroom, shower and locker facilities.

Weber believes that “them versus us” politics is behind the fuss.  “After all, why have the CEOs of major companies doing business in North Carolina banded together to challenge the law.  In fact, 80 companies including Charlotte, NC-based Bank of America, Apple, Google, Facebook and PayPal, for example, signed a somewhat threatening letter hoping to put economic pressure on the state.  Why would they take such a high-profile stance since the law does not impose any new rules on their businesses?  They are free to set their own bathroom policies as they see fit.

So, why was the law passed in the first place?  According to the Governor’s Fact Sheet: “The bill was passed after the Charlotte City Council voted to impose a regulation requiring businesses to allow a man into a women’s restroom, shower, or locker room if they choose.  This ordinance would have eliminated the basic expectations of privacy people have when using the rest room by allowing people to use the restroom of their choice. This new local regulation brought up serious privacy concerns by parents, businesses and others across the state, as well as safety concerns that this new local rule could be used by people who would take advantage of this to do harm to others.”

This why I dumped AARP in favor of AMAC several years ago. Finally an organization that stands up for the basic rights of all people, not just radical left-wingers. This well written article clearly explains why North Carolina and it’s governor are on the right side of the law here, and not cow-towing to the left-wing minority who wish to tell the majority how to live their lives!

No matter what they do, the xy chromosomes God gave them never change and God didn’t get it wrong. I have a right to use a flipping bathroom in comfort. If you are a man use the men’s room, the Same goes for a woman. Change the outside all you want. Those annoying xy chromosomes will stay intact. If you want to make the package look like something it isn’t that is your right. However, I also have a right to my opinion and my privacy. I do not appreciate anyone trying to force me to adjust my life to accommodate anything that is contrary to my beliefs and my own right to privacy.

Connie Fuller

Why are we letting the minority set the rules ???? What happened to our right to privacy and respect ?

I believe the State has the right and those business should be boycotted! I don’t want my Grandchildren in a restroom with someone who is a different gender.

Wayne Hurt

We should all stop doing Business, with every Business on this list!! This is ridiculous! Does Cuomo have kids of his own? How about a Wife? How would they like it if a Man came in and hopped in the Shower with them, or sat in the stall next to them in a Restaraunt? It’s a disgrace! We, people with morals, should support N. Carolina, and boycott every Business on this list!

Think of this when you vote in November. If a Democrat wins the Presidency, more of the same will happen. Those of you who won’t vote for a Republican because it wasn’t the one you supported MUST vote for the Republican running. None of the Republicans in the race would advocate or support the laws being forced upon us for political correctness.

Wow, I would LOVE to NOT use any of the afore mentioned businesses at this point; does anyone know how to NOT use Microsoft? Or how about PayPay when some companies only allow you to pay through PayPal.
One person mentioned to be sure and vote republican – I have to agree. The UNIONS are brainwashing anyone who is unfortunate to be in a union – and their political agenda is nearly 100% LIBERAL. I’m hoping people will stand up for what they believe (in particularly – their moral beliefs) and vote Conservative – which this election ONLY includes republican candidates.
More than anything – we need to PRAY for our nation – that it will HONOR GOD.

Wow! Some sanity remains. Perhaps you’d like like to live or visit San Fransicko where they now have outdoor public urinating places, located close by public parks where children play. You can just walk over and urinate against a half moon wall in full view of all. What’s wrong with Progressively insane Liberals? Satan walks among us where he/she or she/he freaks, sex poopers, illegals, radical Muslim terrorists and just plain lunatics are allowed to have their safe spaces while the rest of us are just supposed to ignore them I guess. … Nahhh! Not while I can still draw a breath!

Donna Richards

These companies have just stabbed most of their customer’s in the back. Boycott every single one of them. So some pedophile can claim their a transgender and prey on young children in public restrooms now. Shame shame on you CEO’s. Stop jumping on the PC bandwagon and stick to your own business!

M. Schlim

I am appalled by this idea that anyone of any sex can invade the privacy of the opposite sex. What happens when other people from other countries do this. Obama is importing hundreds of men from countries that disrespect women and take advantage of any situation that they can. Look at Germany. Wholesale rape in many areas. They don’t look at this as rape. This is normal in many 3rd world countries.
A very dangerous situation. I hope the Gov. of North Carolina sticks with his promise.

James Owen

Lets get this straight; 700,000 transgender sex-perverts want the 330 million normal people to change the way we think ?? If these sex-perverts can not make up their minds on what sex/gender they think they are…..Its time to get them the help needed from say the mental health clinics, and get them off our streets. Its time to stand for truth and for our religious liberties before other anti-God, anti-family, anti- American people take away the rights , freedoms and plain common since we were raised with.

Stan Bennett.

I emailed Gov. McCrory this morning to thank him for taking a stand for what we all instinctively know is right, and to encourage him to remain strong. I applaud him for refusing to give in and be politically correct. If you agree, please contact him and let him know. Most importantly, pray for him and our nation.

Charlene Houchins

Kudos to the governor of North Carolina! I am truly over the “politically correct” nonsense. Thank you for listing the companies that are protesting the bill that was passed. I plan on boycotting any company on this list. The women in this country need to look around at how our rights are being taken away. All of this smacks of a religion that gives women NO RIGHTS. If it is cheaper to have unisex bathroom facilities make them individual single rooms. Don’t tell me I have to “suck it up” and share a bathroom with any Tom, Dick or Harry. The depravity of this society keeps sinking to lower and lower levels. VOTE out the “liberals”!!!!!!

Ronald Cummins

Allowing men in women’s rest rooms is a violation of women’s rights to privacy. I will no longer patronize those companies that allow men in women’s restrooms. Most of those companies are just afraid they will lose the business of the LGBT community. That’s right, kiss the butts of the minority at the expense of the majority. This country has lost it’s morality. Can we go any lower?

Ed from Pittsboro, NC

Make sure Gov. McCrory gets a notice of any and all the support for HB2 from concerned citizens who think he has done the right thing.I agree wholehearted that this bill provides appropriate rights and protection in using bathrooms in a private comfortable setting. I find it hard to believe that a small minority of American citlzens, who already have the same constitutional rights as myself, feel that they must infringe on others rights to force them to accept their ways of life
Sad times in our country.

Chuck Orvik

Isn’t it strange how some people have to force their way of life on others but noone better change their way of life. Maybe USA will start listening to the majoreity and stop forcing the majority to give in to the minority.

Screw those companies. North Carolina has the right to set their own laws and standards.

Luther curtis

I was born a man and will remain a man until the day I die. God made male and female what else needs to be said. As much as I love apple products I to will boycott this company and any company that disagrees with this bill. Stay the course North Carolina maybe this politically correct country will come to its senses.

Bob Mc

How about all of the companies supporting this idiocy being required to have three public toilets. MEN, LADIES, and QUEERS. That way everybody is HAPPY!
