North Carolina’s ‘Bathroom Bill’ Protects Privacy Rights, says AMAC

In a startling move against Pat McCrory, the Governor of North Carolina, who recently signed a bill to protect the privacy of individuals, a number of National companies demanded the Governor to be Politically Correct.

The following companies have threatened North Carolina with economic retaliation for barring men from going into Ladies rest rooms, locker rooms and other facilities that have separate facilities for each gender:

Here’s a list of companies that have come out against the newly signed law:

  • Salesforce
  • Bank of America
  • American Airlines
  • Microsoft
  • Apple
  • RedHat
  • PayPal
  • Google
  • Lowe’s Home Improvement
  • NBA
  • NCAA
  • MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America)
  • Disney

  • Biogen
  • DOW Chemical Company
  • Citrix
  • Bayer
  • NC Policy Watch
  • IBM
  • Burt’s Bees

AMAC wonders if these companies are now allowing men to use the ladies rooms in their retail locations?

This list is being updated as more companies come out against the new law. Please email [email protected] to make corrections to this information or if you’d like to be included on our above list, be sure to include a written statement.

AMAC’s Press Release on the ‘Bathroom Bill’

‘Challenging an individual’s right to privacy when using a bathroom is no laughing matter.’

WASHINGTON, DC, Apr 1 – North Carolina’s so-called ‘bathroom bill’ is causing quite a stir pitting defenders of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities against folks who think only ladies should be allowed in the Ladies’ Room and only men should be allowed in the Men’s Room.

“The law supposedly violates the rights of individuals with alternative sexual preferences, particularly anatomically correct men who see themselves as women and women who wish they were men.  But what about the rights of the rest of us?  Americans overwhelmingly seek a modicum of privacy when we need to use the toilet or take a shower or use the locker room to change into gym clothes?  The way a person thinks of himself or herself sexually is not an issue.  Their thoughts are theirs alone as are the thoughts of traditionalists who find it intrusive and offensive to be forced to use communal bathrooms, shower rooms and locker rooms,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

Weber said he was sad to see the amusement with which such a sensitive issue was greeted when New York Governor Andrew Cuomo banned state travel to North Carolina earlier this week in protest to the bathroom bill.  “Challenging an individual’s right to privacy when using a bathroom, as Mr. Cuomo is doing, is no laughing matter.”

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory insists that the law is not discriminatory.  The law does not take away or infringe on anyone’s rights, he said.  However, he added: “Would you want a man to walk into your daughter’s shower, and legally be able to do that?  I happen to disagree with that.”

Meanwhile, McCrory’s office quickly distributed a Fact Sheet pointing out, among other things, that the law does not limit or prohibit private sector companies from adopting their own set of bathroom rules.  Nor does it leave the LGBT community without protections.  In addition, private businesses have the right to allow mixed use bathroom, shower and locker facilities.

Weber believes that “them versus us” politics is behind the fuss.  “After all, why have the CEOs of major companies doing business in North Carolina banded together to challenge the law.  In fact, 80 companies including Charlotte, NC-based Bank of America, Apple, Google, Facebook and PayPal, for example, signed a somewhat threatening letter hoping to put economic pressure on the state.  Why would they take such a high-profile stance since the law does not impose any new rules on their businesses?  They are free to set their own bathroom policies as they see fit.

So, why was the law passed in the first place?  According to the Governor’s Fact Sheet: “The bill was passed after the Charlotte City Council voted to impose a regulation requiring businesses to allow a man into a women’s restroom, shower, or locker room if they choose.  This ordinance would have eliminated the basic expectations of privacy people have when using the rest room by allowing people to use the restroom of their choice. This new local regulation brought up serious privacy concerns by parents, businesses and others across the state, as well as safety concerns that this new local rule could be used by people who would take advantage of this to do harm to others.”

Thanks for the list. Will make it a point to patronize those businesses for standing up for human rights and not validating a return to the Dark Ages.

Hitler used these people in his move to take over the world. When he was finished with them he had them all executed.Don’t take my word for it. Read the annals of the Brown shirts. I wonder if the Dem’s. have a similar plan in mind.. History is repeating itself. It is an abomination in the words of Jesus our messiah. Just because the World is upside down doesn’t mean that Humanity should fall into this grossly misguided movement. They are an huge Minority and should be stopped right now. (nip it in the bud) Judeo Christian principles built this great country.”America where are you now we can’t fight alone against the monster” (Steppenwolf) Inclination of the individual’s spirit is the answer to all our american misguided principles. Repent America or lose our savior forever.

Let us remember that nearly all of these companies do business in middle eastern countries; where the penalty for such gender confusion is a long prison term, or death. No portest/refusal to do business there. I think we just found a new definition of HYPOCRITE!

It is time we stood up to these people. I will personally boycott everyone on this list. What about our rights to NOT have to share a bathroom with a MAN? Good grief. What was wrong 2000 years ago is still wrong today. Nothing has changed. We should not have to put up with this. We also have rights.

Which web browser are you using on what operating system? Not that I agree with any of these companies, but we can’t boycott every company that has policies or statements that are contrary to us, otherwise we’d boycott them all.

Let’s do this and I am making this suggestion at the suggestion of my friend Mary. She is a retired police officer. Let’s just seriously band together and boycott every single company that is on this list and every new company who decides to foolishly jump on this band wagon. We do not need them; we do not need their stuff. I will purchase products from companies who respect common decency, who promote & respect law and order.

What about the rights of the MAJORITY of the people who don’t have gender issues and know whether they’re male or female? I don’t want some guy coming into the bathroom with me .It’s as the governor said, all companies have the right to make their own rules. You know some pervert is going to use this as a way to assault someone. It’s only a matter of time. I don’t believe in being “politically correct”. I believe in being honest and if some people can’t handle the truth, so sad, too bad.

Why in God’s name should we be having this conversation? We have lost sight of the reality that common sense should always prevail. I am sad to see political correctness and declining morals tearing this great Nation apart.Who are we any more to move so far away from principals that have worked for so long for so many?Perhaps it’s time to have the LGBT community start a drive for bathrooms, locker rooms and toilets labeled as OTHER Or OTHER THAN, (MEN LADIES OTHER) Or is that being too insensitive.

Thank you for the more clear understanding of this law. As a mother/ grandmother it clearly allows me to seek safety in these areas for daughters and granddaughters. What man or woman wants to go into an other sex bathroom except as a threat (predator) or power-move toward the opposite sex.

Ya’ll are making way too big of a deal about this issue. The law does not allow me, a 69 year old male heterosexual to go to the ladies room. I do not believe there is anyone standing by all the restrooms in this country monitoring who comes in and who does not. Nor will this law do so. The whole thing is just nuts.

Dixie

You say the law doesn’t allow you, a heterosexual, to go into the ladies room, and that there is no one standing by all the restrooms as monitors. EXACTLY THE POINT OF ALL THIS, TONY!! Who says you can’t go into a ladies room? Simply BECAUSE there is no monitoring, you CAN go into the ladies room. And even if there WERE monitors, who’s gonna be able to prove you’re not transgender? If it all goes according to how we feel inside, nothing can be proven. So yes, you CAN go into a ladies room, claiming you are transgender and feel like a woman inside! THAT’S why we’re making a big issue of this. You’d better wake up out of your 69-year snooze and wipe the cobwebs from your brain.

When someone shows me a legitimate report of a sexual assault in a bathroom by a transgendered individual, then I may have some grounds to see bills like this as something other than a means for the radical right to legitimize the discrimination of people it’s chosen to hate.

After what we’ve seen the past few years, it seems one should be more concerned about what Republican members of Congress do in bathrooms than transgendered men or women.

It opens a door for any twisted man to dress like a woman and enter a woman’s bathroom to do whatever. Example, last week in California a man was arrested for posing as a woman and going in a ladies restroom and videoing women using the bathroom. Is it so hard to understand with all the crazies in the world that this stuff happens? Common sense seems to have left people. What a disgusting twisted culture today in the U.S.

So to satisfy you, someone has to be hurt, threatened, raped or killed before you will see it as dangerous? There is only one reason a man would go into a women’s bathroom. He is a pervert and wants to inflict harm in his attempt at self gratification.

Yeah, yeah, Don. Pull the hate card out of the deck. That’s what you libs always do towards conservatives when you don’t have a strong argument against their concerns. Reality check: I know this is gonna blow your tiny brain, but IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HATRED. Do you have the capacity to comprehend that? I, as a conservative, do not hate transgenders or homosexuals, or ANYONE else in the world. But we have legitimate concerns about our own rights and how we feel inside, too. I feel fear. I worry that ANY man could use the law as an excuse to satiate their desire to spy on women and little girls. There are such people in this world, you know. Sexual deviants who enjoy watching little girls in the nude, and having sex with them, etc. Such a law could make it all so much easier for them. Who’s gonna be avle to prove a person isn’t a transgender? I worry less about the transgenders than deviants who would use the law as a ruse to spy on unsuspecting females. Why is that so hard for liberals to understand??

For anyone who has a mother, daughter, wife or a woman they love and/or are concerned about their safety and well being, this should be of major concern. This is what 8 years of a woefully immoral and lawless administration has done to our country, and an alleged opposition that seems too cowardly, and impotent to do anything about it. Some people will applaud this as progress, I don’t agree with their idea of progress, and for the sake of your eternal security in a good place, I hope none of you do either. I was talking to my Dad this weekend, and he told me his wife is going to punch any guy in the nose that invades her private space in her most vulnerable and private moments. I can’t say I altogether disagree, but if it’s my mother, daughter, wife or a woman I personally know; he/it better hope my righteous indignation is in full mercy mode that day, otherwise there is going to be a major clash of my 1st Amendment rights, self defense for the woman, God’s laws, and fallen man’s zeitgeist. No joke, the Devil and their human representatives have gone way too far backwards, for way too long! I’ve had enough!!!

P.S. For those who are experiencing gender confusion, gender envy or same or similar; go find yourself a full length mirror, pull down your pants, slacks, skirt, dress etc., and whatever God gave you is what sex you are. If somehow you ended up with what appears to be one of each, then whichever one is dominant, that is what you are. That’s it, live with it, and if you can’t, then you can either ask God for healing and/or a professional counselor for help out of your bondage or you can keep it to yourself, closed away tightly in your closet, and away from the rest of us.

Good comment John. It’s not difficult to find out if you are male or female. Take John’s advice and look in the mirror. If you’re still confused go back to 1st grade and let one of the kids explain it to you. It’s not based on how you feel that day!

I applaud John. You Don, are one of the imbeciles on the left who think the Country is in better shape now then ever. Get over yourself, open your eyes and see things as they are. We have lost all common sense, all of our values and have put this country in danger. Now, I realize this is what Obama wanted all along. He’d love to see us as a 3rd world country and has been doing everything in his power to get us there. But hopefully, there are enough of us who believe in the Constitution, God, common sense and good values and patriotism to vote in the right people and get us back to being a strong country with the right values. This will mean, of course, that people will have to stop being “victims” and start being self-reliant and responsible. Think you can handle that, Don?

It is so ironic that ” political correctness” does the very thing is supposedly is trying to prevent, trampling on the rights of most, while securing separate rights for the minority, at the expense of the majority. None of this changes the facts, Men and women are different, we need to maintain separate bathrooms.

frank

I’m four score plus two years old and I can visualize “political correctness” ruining this country or ours. Who in what focus group came up with the idea of women using a man’s rest room and a man using a woman’s facility. I find that kind of thinking driving this country upside down. What’s in is out, what’s up is down, what’s white is black, what’s right is wrong and we could go on and on. It all started when women sports reporters wanted excess to male dressing rooms so they could have equality with their male counterpart. It was wrong and it’s wrong today.

Do the Republican members of the State Legislature in Raleigh have to show their birth certificates now to prove which bathroom they are allowed to use in the capital public buildings? This is the new version of the “Birther” movement. What a backward group of folks these hate-mongers are! They don’t know the difference between sex offenders, drag queens, and transgender people. It just shows their ignorance. Hate makes the world go ’round, I guess.

Unbelievable that this perversion even exists, but to hear people defending it? I never would have thought it would come to this. So people who believe men are men and women are women are haters. Makes sense to me.

Hate has nothing to do with it. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they hate you. They just BELIVE you are wrong. Get over it. Quit trying to play a victim. That is what people that do not have an argument always pull out of their pocket. They claim anyone that does not agree with them is a racist, a hater, a sexist, a homophobe and so on and so on. If there was one teeny tiny argument that would make sense then you would use it. Obviously you don’t have a good argument.
