AMAC Exclusive – By Eleanor Vaughn

abortion

In 2021, we heard plenty of news about the future of abortion in America.  Republican legislatures introduced multiple bills that would ban abortions after detection of a fetal heartbeat; the most notable of these “heartbeat bills” was enacted in Texas and possibly represents a new way to protect the unborn.  In addition, a major abortion rights case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, was argued before the Supreme Court, prompting many to ask if the Court will reconsider Roe v. Wade. In 2022, not only will we find out the results of that case, but the future of the abortion debate could be drastically transformed.

Roe was decided in January of 1973, 49 years ago this month. Ever since the abortion debate has always been primarily about Roe v. Wade. Science, healthcare, and the preferences of the American people have rarely been taken into account. But since there are indications the Supreme Court could be revisiting Roe and abortion could be moving back to the center stage of American politics, it’s worth asking: what do the American people think about it these days?

Recent polling tells a strikingly different story from what you might hear from most mainstream news outlets.

In a Gallup poll from last year, 47% of people identified as “pro-life.” In that same poll, 67% of respondents supported some restrictions on abortion, as opposed to allowing unlimited abortion for any reason at any time—an all-too-common position held by many elected Democrats today.

There are even some specific abortion limitations that Americans widely agree on.  For example, according to an AP-NORC poll, 65% of Americans think that, in most cases, abortion should be illegal in the second trimester of pregnancy (13-26 weeks). The hotly debated Mississippi law at the center of the Dobbs case would ban abortions after 16 weeks – suggesting that the law may not be so controversial after all, no matter the media spin.

Similarly, except in extreme circumstances (like when the life of the mother is at stake), 80% of Americans think that abortion should be illegal in the third trimester (26-40 weeks), with 54% saying it should be illegal in all cases in the third trimester. In light of these findings, the progressive “abortion-on-demand” agenda is clearly far too radical for the American people.

There is also widespread support for limiting taxpayer funding of abortion.  A Marist poll from last year showed that 58% of Americans oppose using taxpayer money to fund abortions.  This is especially notable given that President Joe Biden and many Congressional Democrats have pushed to exclude the Hyde Amendment from their budget proposals. The decades-old legislative provision prohibits tax dollars funding abortions, and getting rid of the Hyde Amendment would mark a major break from precedent – in addition to going against the wishes of a solid majority of Americans.

Recent polling also shows that, contrary to the left’s claims that abortion policy should be set by the federal government, Americans want more local control over the issue.  The aforementioned Marist poll, for example, showed that 65% of Americans think states, rather than the federal government, should make abortion laws.  A poll commissioned by Students for Life showed that this attitude is especially popular with young people; 70% of young adults want to be able to vote on abortion policy.  44% favored turning the issue back to the states, with only 36% opposing the idea; the remaining 18% were unsure.  This, of course, is likely what would happen in the event the Supreme Court revisited Roe v. Wade. For the 55% of Americans that Gallup reports are dissatisfied with the country’s policies on abortion, it’s clear that there’s still a lot that should be debated.

For the pro-life movement, there is abundant reason for hope. If given a say, average Americans will vote to change the status quo on abortion, with limitations on funding, restrictions on legality, or even outright bans.  But regardless of what changes may happen in this year or the next, those of us who are pro-life can take great comfort in the fact that—no matter what the media may say—we are not alone.

Abortion is murdering a baby. Period! It is based on lies. There was no abortion in Roe vs Wade. Just an excuse to slaughter the population. Search info for yourself. Planned Parenthood murder mill was started by a Democrat woman named Margaret Sanger to destroy the black population. Hillary Clinton praised her. Look it up. No one has a right to kill! This stupidity about my body my choice is wrong. There are two Different bodies involved.

With the normal, strong, natural drive to engage in sex, and sexuality being pushed on young people by Hollywood and the media, it is no wonder that many young people just make mistakes regarding procreation. Then there are the folks that should know better but get pregnant and should not have a baby or do not want a baby. Before 18 weeks the decision should have been made. After 18 weeks only medical reasons and no government subsidies.

Without a doubt, abortion is MURDER! Controlling It needs to decided by each individual State, by AMERICANS who love children and protect EACH AND EVERY LIFE INDIVIDUALLY!

For nearly fifty years now, America has allowed women the “right” to destroy their unborn children – more than 62 million of them. Racist organizations of abortionists are selling infant body parts. We have condoned this abomination and its ramifications have been multi-faceted, both for individuals and for our culture.

It’s my opinion that this is the primary reason that God, Whose clear directive to man was “DO NOT MURDER”, has allowed this country to be faced with the onslaught of this terrible virus AND the fraudulent election of a mindless administration which is bent on destroying EVERYTHING for which this country has stood for more than 200 years.

Abortion removes the God-given life of an unborn child. NO excuses or explanations can validate it.

In terms of partisan political matters, allowing abortion favors the Democrats. So it is no puzzle as to why the Democrats favor free abortion … it favors them at the polls and reduces their dependence on having to win elections by rigging the election process. Let’s face it … the Democrat Party is ALL about what favors Democrats (particularly the upper authorities in their party). The Democrat Party is about a sublevel of governance whose goal is to RULE American according to its partisan bias rather than be constricted by a Constitutional law setting. The Democrat Party should rename itself as the “Communist Party” to closely fit what it is all about in terms of governance of this Nation.

Even a few liberal “scholars” have opined that Roe was fabricated and not based on any legal foundation. The 7 justices who created this phony “right” even used untenable “science.” Trimesters don’t tell you anything. But even under this flawed decision, with today’s REAL science, we could still ban most abortions. BUT Doe v. Bolton with its phony “health of the mother” stance can be interpreted by doctors trying to make money to mean just about anything: headaches, morning sickness, etc.
We need to pray that all the phony excuses are eliminated.

Can you imagine an abortion lover standing before GOD on judgement day and saying–“It was not a child-it was a fetus”. I feel sure these excuses for humans will hear–“DEPART from ME, thy maker of iniquity, for I know YOU NOT”. Not to worry–Satan will probably say–‘Welcome to the smoking section”.

The very thought of taking the life of a child in the third trimester is inconceivable. Our daughter just gave birth to a preemie weighing 2lbs.6 oz. Her name is Genevieve Elizabeth. She is now 4 months old. She has guadrupled her weight and is simply beautiful. Seeing her for the first time you see a full and complete human being. How anyone could ever murder Geneieve Elizabeth whose birth placed our daughter at grave risk is inconceivable.

What makes me mad about this issue is that the pro-abortion folks don’t really care about the ladies who have the abortions! Any woman who chooses to go thru the procedure is usually in a traumatized state cuz she is pregnant and doesn’t want to be! But where is the counseling for these women, or rightly, girls since most of them are young women?

Mental health professionals have done research on this and found that an abortion is NOT healthy for most women. It increases the risk of cancer later, causes mental anguish for most of the girls leading to drug, alcohol, and other abuses. A lot of these women have intimacy issues later and truly never recover from the horror of abortion.

The left – Democrats – never discuss this, never even want to discuss this! Abortion is the murder of a baby in its most innocent stage of life but it’s also HELL on the women who go thru it! SO this idea that abortion is no big deal and women should be able to have as many as they want with no one getting hurt is crap!

Democrats always say they care about women’s health with this issue but they don’t! Its all about buying votes and expanding hedonism thru out society so the left can stay in power while society does nothing but party their lives away as slaves to the left! Brave New World – with NO GOD! Makes me sick and sad!

I tell people to check the definition of ‘Positivist”. It’s a philosophy that makes the old Democratic party cry of ” Situational Morality” possible. They don’t believe in a higher power or anything by man to aspire to. It is also why they will blithely disregard the constitution.

While I am personally opposed to abortions based on my theological beliefs and understanding of biology, unless there is a law stating that a fetus is an unborn human being, I believe that abortions should be available to any woman who wants to be fully responsible for the cost of them. That means that absolutely no government funding, directly or in any way indirectly, should ever go toward abortions unless there is a criminal issue involved. Insurance coverage for abortions should be a separate rider so that all who pay for insurance are not forced to pay for abortion coverage. If we make abortions the sole responsibility of the woman and man involved in the pregnancy, there will be a lot less unwanted pregnancies as people will become more responsible for their actions. To think otherwise is to suggest social engineering, which defies the nature of man.

Abortion is a big business in this country with many evil and corrupted tentacles attached, including politicians, medical industry, and the elite. It is and always will be an uphill battle for prolife, but God and Truth will prevail.

I am pro-choice and therefore I do not like abortion, especially when some women see it as a ‘birth control’ choice! But at the same time, I don’t believe politics belong in women’s wombs! If abortions are ruled stringently restricted or outlawed altogether I, personally, think things could get bad!

I understand the right’s sentiment about abortion but here’s the deal: most women would really like to have that option of abortion. If I were a woman, I’d want that too. Conservatives must become more liberal on the issue to win women voters. Otherwise, we cannot win. That’s the reality. Cheers!

Abortion and abortion funding will continue to be a seminole issue as long as the federal government continues to legislate morality. Americans should not be forced to be complicit via federal tax dollars. This is a state level issue to resolve. Overturn Roe v Wade is the correct decision.

I am extremely careful of those who seek more freedoms, etc. regarding abortions. It is, to me, very scary when I hear of those who have no problem supporting abortions at any stage. What are their feelings and positions on older humans who are in their way for what they seek to solve their problems? I also wonder what existing children of those who support and push for abortions think. i.e., might it have been them?

This moral outrage has been a blight on our nation for five decades. Are we better as a people and culture since that ominous ruling by the Supreme Court in 1973? Hopefully enough justices will have the moral backbone to overturn Roe vs. Wade once and for all.

Since the 70s, over a million babies have been aborted per year. 90 percent of those aborted were for Convenience!! What wrong with this Picture? Isn’t abortion clinic placed in low economic areas? The Stats show African American babies are aborted far more than any other race. Why is this? Murder of any baby is wrong and needs to stop. Hopefully, the Supreme Court will do its job.

Question – IF If if thought thru and humble and responsible/respectful ???? in America where 2 humanoids can CHOOSE to have sexual intercourse, Who would decide to kill the helpless INNOCENT preborn child for the failure by 2 adults that oops ???? got pregnant?? How does one justify their actions with an immoral decision regarding an innocent life? Life at conception is per SCIENCE which makes anytime the brutal heinous and profit of abortion is performed a horrific tragedy. Q have you seen an abortion? Sad decision by mom.. shameful by male, and SINISTER by physicians imho.

If a state votes to stop abortion there will always be a liberal puke judge that will stop the law. Look at gay marriage, it never won a majority of votes when states allowed the people to vote on it and all it took to force on everyone was 5 liberal puke scotus judges to change the will of the majority of the people.
