After eight years of the Obama administration’s vow to weaken America on the world stage, we are repairing and replacing antiquated aircraft, for which replacement parts were no longer available — and developing longer range, more accurate weapons-delivery systems and missile defense shields. President Trump has also announced the inauguration of a new military branch — the U.S. Space Force — to prepare us for satellite-based warfare, and even farther into the future, interplanetary combat.

If this sounds very Star Wars — it isn’t. Other countries have begun similar efforts and may even be more advanced than we are — although we hope America’s newest exploits will remain closely guarded secrets.

Back to Earth….

Speaking at the January 2019 Surface Naval Association symposium, the Navy’s Director of Surface Warfare, Rear Adm. Ron Boxall, reported the draft of their new Surface Combatant Capability Evolution Plan (SC CEP) — to insert the newest technologies — including tactical submarine, 5th generation aviation and amphibious ship plans — to achieve “cross-domain inter-operability.” The Navy and Marine Corps shift in strategic focus is based on intelligence and enemy nations’ activities.

Adm. Boxall’s announcement is as much a new mindset as a plan — at “the big (surface combatant) level, the smaller level and the unmanned level… incorporating underlying military systems into new ship designs — creating lethal and survivable ships; and getting [our armed forces, multiple resource sponsors and researchers] all on the same page.”

Boxall seeks “a more tangible blueprint…to drive not how much money do you have, so here’s what you get to go buy, but the other way around… say hey this is what we need to do by this time, and if we don’t, here’s the risk, because we modeled it and we know.”

Marine Corps. Major General David Coffman, Director of Naval Expeditionary Warfare, spoke of “an ongoing challenge in readiness, given the threats to our amphibious forces.” Coffman and other strategists are creating new approaches; launching “more dispersed, dis-aggregated yet networked assault [capabilities], using smaller unmanned vessels to perform reconnaissance, countermine and attack missions.”

The aim is to reduce our vulnerability to enemy fire and to better identify key targets across wider geographic areas. “Upgrades will come to combat ships in many classes [and new ship design] with a focus on command, control, communications, computers, cyber-aspects and intelligence…in lockstep with Adm. Boxall’s plan.”

The entire conceptual shift has an increased “sea-based” focus, with smaller multi-mission vessels, fortified by larger ‘amphibs,’ operating at larger, safer, distances Coffman also envisions the larger ships will operate as “seaports, hospitals, logistics warehouses and sea-bases for maneuver forces.”

Going from macro to micro, Gen. Coffman described the Marine Corps’ new amphibious combat vehicle designed for ‘deep strike’ attacks, preparing for long-range high-intensity land-attack missions and “total destruction” emerging from amphibious assault.

By 2021, BAE-built Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs) will massively expand U.S. military capabilities beyond the current Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs), for extended penetration on land after an initial beachhead is broached.

The new 30-ton ACV with 700 horsepower ocean water-cooled engines are much more powerful than traditional AAV’s (400hp conventional engine) power, which will enable ACVs to travel 365 total miles — e.g., about 13 miles through water, from carrier ship to shore, at about six knots, and then up to 60 mph for hundreds of miles on land.

Using advanced automotive technology, the U.S. Marine Corps move is from tracked AAVs to 8×8 wheeled ACVs, engineered for greater land speed, maneuverability and survival. The new transports’ v-shaped hulls will increase combat durability, according BAE Systems; and won’t require torsion bars. They will have digital driver’s instrument panels and will be armed with .50-calibre machine guns. The USMC can order them with unmanned turrets, 30mm guns, and jammers in complex radio suite to block enemy radio transmissions.

The new ACVs will launch from big-deck amphibs, called LHAs, and from Amphibious Transport Docks, called LPDs – emphasizing ship-to-shore water-launched combat vehicles Other amphibs are being built with an aviation emphasis, to utilize air-launched support.

Although America’s global military focus shift may still be in draft stages, we know they will move ahead rapidly — and we trust the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Marines and Merchant Marine’s integrated efforts will deliver more advanced weapons capabilities in short order. Let China, North Korea, Russia and others display their missiles in parades to impress cheering crowds — what counts is America’s true military might should it be tested on multiple fronts.

Thank goodness for Pres. Trump. Obama rewrote history in that the U.S. never attacked any country unless provoked or at the request of another country who needed help in defending itself. We never had anything to apologize for. We don’t hide behind women & children, in schools, churches of any type, in hospitals, or dressed as a civilian. We will meet an opponent honorably on the battlefield, or elsewhere if required.

I am happy to hear about the forward movement on up grading some of our field defense equipment, { its about time }. I notice that we neglected talking about long range air defense { missile’s }
I also have had a chance to review our National Guard,s light range air equipment eg. helicopters, intermediate planes etc. they too need a good look over, the Guard needs a revisit on a lot of items.
I think we have to take a good look at all that also.

President Trump understands what should be obvious to any intelligent person. Peace only comes through strength. The world has a large share of nations and governments who are simply bullies, bullies wishing to impose their domination over others, including the entire world if possible. China and Russia are two of them, but many smaller regimes will do the same to neighbors if they can. While America should not be the world’s police force, we cannot allow the evil goals of other regimes to dominate, and the only means of preventing it is a military strength that cannot be challenged. The President is right, as he is on most other things like border security.

It truly is astounding how two parties can think so differently. The concept of “peace through strength” is pure common sense and logic. Unfortunately, the Dems, who never worry about such things as national security, see such improvements as robbing funds from their precious social agenda items. We need to stand strong because a change in leadership could easily undue the progress that Trump has and will accomplish!

It is so refreshing to have a Commander an Chief that has common sense and honor for the military and the millions who have served this great republic. National security is paramount and we who have served are willing to serve again to protect our national heritage if need be. It is a shame that the Demo-rats want to enjoy the fruit without putting forth any effort to keep the ravaging hordes of socialism from destroying all the we and our forefathers have labored for. GITMO is to nice a place for them. WWG1WGA. MAGA

PRESIDENT TRUMP IS A BUSINESS MAN FIRST, AND HE KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH MANY SITUATIONS FACING THE AMERICAN CITIZENS. THE WALL IS SO ESSENTIAL THAT ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD CALL IT UNNECESSARY. YES, MAYBE PARTS OF THE BORDER CAN BE CONTROLLED ELECTRONICALLY AND PART IWTH OTHER DEVICES, BUT LET’S BACK THE BORDER PATROL AND ICE IN PROTECTING AMERICAN CITIZENS FROM DEVASTATING SITUATIONS THESE ILLEGALS ARE BRINGING INTO OUR COUNTRY. THERE IS A DEFINITE NEED FOR WORKERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE USA, DAIRY FARMS, TOMATO PICKING, AND OTHER JOBS AMERICANS DO NOT CARE TO DO. BUT CAN WE BE SENSIBLE IN HOW WE REGULATE THESE WORKERS. I SUPPOSE NANCY PELOSI STARTED CALLING THEM
ALIENS (HOW DUMB AND ALIEN IS FROM OUTER SPACE) CAN’T WE JUST CALL THEM LEGAL OR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. ANYWAY, WHEN THEY COME TO WORK THEY SHOULD HAVE AN ID (GREEN CARD!! WHATEVER, BUT NOT A SOCIAL SECURITY IDENTIFICATION CARD, THAT SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR US CITIZENS) THIS ID WORKERS, ETC ARE ISSUED SHOULD BE A PHOTO, ID NUMBER, ADDRESS, PHONE NO (IF POSSIBLE) AND EMPLOYERS OF THESE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE PROPER FORMS TO BE FILLED OUT WITH THE WORKERS’ HOURS AND THE RATE OF INCOME TAX TO BE ASSESSED FROM THEIR WAGES. THIS TAX COULD THEN TAKE CARE OF THE EXPENSES THE WORKERS ENSUE, SUCH AS; SCHOOLING, HOSPITALIZATION, ETC. WOULD THAT REALLY BE SO HARD TO DO. COM-ON!! CONGRESS GET BUSY!!! AS FAR AS PULLING OUT OF SYRIA, ETC I FEEL SURE OUR INTELLIGENT PRESIDENT DID NOT MAKE THIS DECISION ALL ON IS OWN. HE RESPECTS OUR PENTAGON WITH ITS GENERALS AND ADVISORS. WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY FOR ROADS, BUILDINGS, ETC IN THESE COUNTRIES AND LET THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN OUR OWN USA JUST WAIT UNTIL WE CAN COME UP WITH FUNDS TO MAKE THEM BETTER. IF SOMETHING GOES AWRY AFTER WE PULL OUR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN OUT OF THOSE FORSAKEN AREAS,, WHY COULDN’T WE LEAVE A PROMISE THAT WE WILL TAKE CARE OF KEEPING ISIS IN ORDER FROM OUR HOMELAND.

Since 2001 our military’s equipment (systems and vehicles) have seen nearly continuous use, not only in combat environments, but in transport to and from combat areas. At the same time, these systems and vehicles were neglected by President Obama’s administration and have become “tired” and worn beyond reliable serviceability. President Trump has proudly taken charge to correct his predecessor’s negligence by allocating $700B for military rebuilding. President Reagan took on a similar challenge in 1980 by modernizing our “tired” WWII and Vietnam era systems. Will we ever learn? “Pay me now or pay me later” … well, it’s now “later”. There’s a saying – The military is not needed until it’s needed, then nothing takes its place.

How much money do we put into our military and how much of that is used to protect the rest of the planet. It doesn’t seem to me that many are very appreciative of the freedom it gives them. We are in an evil situation on our Southern border caused some of our own politicians and by some of the very countries we give a huge amount of aid to because they can’t seem to protect themselves. It seems to me as though we should be able to expect cooperation from them to secure this hemisphere. Mexico is a great example. They could stop these illegal attempts from invading their borders in exchange for us protecting their lazy asses. We help them on a moments notice and send our own fathers to take bullets for them. It is time to get tough. We, as taxpayers and parents, deserve for them to make their citizens safe so their populations don’t have to come here to eat or to kill, depending on who it is. Our DNC’ommunist politicians don’t seem to care much how it goes or what you may suffer as long as they get votes. Do I complain without a suggestion? No and here it is! #1-We have no freedoms unless we respect and support out security forces no matter where they are sent or what they are expected to do. We owe them everything we have! #2- Term limits! Just look at the folks in Congress we can have no respect for just because they are only there protecting their bank accounts and what looks to me as though some are being bribed, what else could it be. Our security has to come first or we have nothing!

A strong military provides security at home. President Trump understands this. Obama did but chose to weaken our nation. After 8 years of bowing and B.S., we finally have a President with a backbone. Although he may be coarse at times, Donald has our best interest at heart. Remember this in 2020. MAGA!

This is all well and good, but if you do not have a shield over our country to protect our electric grid, all of the above is meaningless.
