While the Left Ignores Voter Fraud, More Evidence Mounts to Prove Them Wrong

from – The Daily Signal – by Jason Snead and Robert Ordway

The 2016 elections have passed, but courts still have plenty of work to do sorting out cases of voter fraud throughout the country.

Convictions have continued to roll in this spring, and The Heritage Foundation’s voter fraud database is growing longer by the day.

This week, we are adding 19 convictions, including cases from Texas, Colorado, and Illinois. These are just the latest convictions. Yet despite the overwhelming evidence, the left prefers to bury its head in the sand and refuses to acknowledge the reality of Voter fraud.

Take one example from Kansas. When Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach claimed his first conviction in a voter fraud case against a non-U.S. citizen, opponents of the conviction had no interest in dealing with the facts.

Instead, some groups on the left—like the liberal news site Think Progress—accused Kobach of “voter suppression.” Another Salon article completely dismissed Kobach without addressing the evidence he found, saying, “Someday he’ll have evidence of a problem that doesn’t exist.”

In many states, voter registration requires proof of citizenship. The left calls such policies anti-American. But is that really such a radical idea, that voters in a U.S. election would have to be U.S. citizens?

If liberals want evidence, then Heritage has it. To date, we have documented 773 confirmed criminal convictions in 492 voter fraud cases spanning 44 states.

Here are a few of the newest entries to the database:

  • Toni Lee Newbill, of Colorado, pleaded guilty to voting twice for her deceased father, once in the 2013 general election and again in the Republican Primary of 2016. Newbill was sentenced to 18 months of unsupervised probation, 30 hours of community service, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and additional court fees.
  • Noe Olvera, of Texas, pleaded guilty to a federal bribery charge. Olvera, a postman, admitted to taking a $1,000 bribe from a paid campaign worker in exchange for a list of the names and addresses of mail-in ballot recipients on his postal route.

After a two-year investigation into local voting fraud, hidden camera footage surfaced revealing a uniformed and on-the-job Olvera “negotiating an exchange of money for mail-in voter lists.” Olvera is scheduled to be sentenced on May 25.

  • Steveland Kidd, of Illinois, pleaded guilty to two counts of absentee ballot abuse during a municipal election in April 2013. Kidd took possession of, and delivered, an absentee ballot to election authorities despite being legally barred from doing so.

The crime is a Class 3 felony. Kidd was sentenced to 12 days in the St. Clair County Jail and is now barred from engaging in campaign-related activities or electioneering.

  • Brian McDouglar, a resident of Cahokia, Illinois, was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of falsifying or tampering with an absentee ballot—a class 3 felony. McDouglar illegally took an absentee ballot from a voter he was not related to, and then placed it in the mail.

Clearly, absentee voting remains particularly vulnerable to fraud.

Simply put, in most states there are few measures in place to sufficiently verify the identity of those casting absentee ballots. Signatures can be forged—a problem that can be addressed by requiring the voter to include a photocopied valid ID along with the absentee ballot.

But more robust identification requirements would only solve part of the problem. They cannot defend against the pernicious targeting of absentee voters by pressuring, coercing, or “assisting” them in filling out their ballots in order to assure that particular candidates or causes prevail.

So long as states continue to allow the names of deceased voters and residents who have moved away to remain on their voter rolls, they are leaving the door wide open to fraudsters who are willing to take advantage of the system by voting in their names.

The Heritage Foundation published “Does Your Vote Count?,” a guide to help voters and policymakers understand the issue of election fraud. That report provides policy recommendations that states should adopt to help thwart illegal activity and ensure that the election process remains free and fair for all.

Procedures that can be implemented include requiring a photographic, government-issued ID and proof of citizenship to register to vote. In addition, participating in an interstate voter registration crosscheck program will help guarantee that people are not voting twice.

Secretaries of state should verify voter registration data with other state and federal agencies, such as the state Department of Motor Vehicles and the Social Security Administration. Such measures will offer a barrier of protection not only to eligible voters, but also to the electoral process in general.

A single fraudulent vote does more than just cancel out the vote of another American. It puts a stain on the results of the entire election.

If voters are discouraged to participate in what they perceive as a tainted process, it only empowers those who would seek to steal elections.

Instead of vilifying those who fulfill their duties to protect the electoral process, the left should embrace the facts. Voter fraud is real, and we must take seriously the task of securing the integrity of our elections.

I have been harping on this problem for years and have wondered, every election, if my vote would be cancelled out by an ineligible voter. This should not be a question that any of us have to ask in America. As far as I’m concerned, those in government know darned well that fraud exists and the fact that they have done nothing to fix the problem is just another reason the American people are fed up with Washington’s ineffective leadership! With the technology now available, we should be guaranteed fair and honest elections!!

There is no doubt in my mind that there was wide spread voter fraud in this last election especially in California where most of of hillarys popular votes came from. It is very easy to get away with voter fraud in California and they have the largest number of illegal Hispanics in the country

Okay, fine. But what is the US Congress doing about it?

I’ll answer that: NOTHING. Why?

If you want to understand just how corrupt our elected representative bodies are find the answer to that question.

Sure, voter fraud if the staple of the Leftist/Communists but if it didn’t also benefit the GOP they would have done something about it long ago. Are they too abjectly cowardly to act?

Remember too that Trump promised to investigate voter fraud. Well ……. ??

Election and voter fraud are serious, serious issues that are helping to destroy the Republic. That being the case it should be a MAJOR issue both Federally and at the State and local levels. BUT IT ISN’T!

Again ….. WHY?????

Hi Tom. Just FYI, the responsibility for the integrity of votes is a State issue not the Federal gov’t. The Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) has stated that our voting equipment & voter data bases should be considered part of the country’s critical infrastructure. There were some states who voiced strong objectios to that for fear of the federal government taking over and nationalizing voting. That is a very valid point by the states with which I agree but something does need to be done to make voter databases & all computer equipment used for voting (including scanners used to relay votes from paper ballots over the Internet) less vulnerable to cyber attacks. I sincerely hope states will be pro-active in this.

I spoke about this before but I will repeat it anyway. The states need to implement a procedure to eliminate dead people from their rolls and maybe coordinate with other states when someone moves & registers in theie new residence state. College students should have to vote by absentee ballot OR their college state be required to notify their home state they have registed in their state.

In this Internet world that should not be a major problem. One program could be written (by whomever) and used by all states & colleges so it will be compatible.

Hi HAM,

Just one correction. Electronic voting machines are NOT connected to the Internet. The reason the left in Obama controlled DHS was pushing so hard in the last election to federalize voting equipment is because they wanted to hook up all voting systems and their electronic vote counters to the Internet and thus allow them to “intervene” (change the votes), if the people weren’t voting for the Progressive on the ballot. All that needs to be done to stop voter fraud is to institute strict voter ID laws. Federalizing the voting machines and electronic counters, which is a red herring of the left to trick the public into handing the left the power to control the outcome of all elections, would be a huge mistake.

Thanks for the correction PaulE. Misunderstanding on my part. I have always been a proponent of states requiring photo voter ID’s. (Driver’s license would be sufficient IF the state requires proof of citizenship). Whoops! That leaves California out. However voter databases are still vulnerable to hacking if they are kept on a state’s computer network. I am totally against voting being nationalized for the very reason you stated. We know the Democrats have no problem with voting fraud as long as they are the ones doing the fraud.

The state of California would be a big problem no matter what solution is proposed by Washington. Not sure what solution, short of a federal takeover of the state’s government to purge the entrenched far-left political base embedded in all facets of state government, which of course would be completely illegal under the Constitution, would break the back of the hold the Democrats now have in that state. Socialism is very hard to dislodge once it has established a firm foothold and I would consider it nearly rock-solid in California at this point. The Democrats have successfully leveraged every under-handed and illegal trick in the book to engineer, over decades of incremental change, the total and complete takeover of that state’s government at all levels. So the same corrupt socialist / communist leaning Democrat politicians, who are now in charge in that state, would fight back against any attempt by the federal government to restore both legitimate voting practices. After all, if the estimated 3 or 4 million voting age illegals in California were successfully barred from continued voting in future elections, that would put the political livelihoods of all those Democrat politicians and their political appointees at stake.

So I’m not sure what solution can be successfully imposed on states like California, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and yes my state of New Jersey beyond a very strict federal photo ID voter law. In my state to get a driver’s license, you need to be able to produce six points of identification to not only prove who you are, but that you are indeed a U.S. citizen, Very similar to what it takes to get a U.S. passport. So to get around that steep threshold of verification of identification for illegals, politicians in a number of northeast states came up with the idea of ” photo identification cards” available to anyone, upon demand without a driver’s license. Supposedly to facilitate opening bank accounts, getting access to buildings requiring photo ID’s, etc., but NOT as a substitute for a valid driver’s license (wink, wink). Illegals can just stroll into a number of state government locations and say who they are, fill out a brief form, get their picture taken and affixed to an official looking card. Now this card is NOT supposed to be used as valid ID for voting, but with no strict voter ID laws in place, these illegals can just stroll into a polling place, flash their “identification card”, if they are even asked for ID, to the poll volunteer and bingo they are allowed to vote.

Of course getting the walking dead in the Republican Party within Congress to actually pass such a strict photo voter ID law is another hurdle to clear and that is in and of and of itself a whole separate topic of discussion. The only federal involvement in the voting process itself that I would recommend, is that federal monitors, from the Justice Department, be stationed at all voting locations to ensure local politicians or their hacks are not trying to wave illegals through to the voting booth. That is what is done in dozen of countries around the world to ensure the integrity of those that are actually allowed to cast a vote in elections. Yes, I’m sure Democrats would howl about that too. However, at some point we either stand up as a nation and impose a system that safeguards the integrity of the polling place or we just allow the left to continue to systematically undermine our republic and move us towards socialism through allowing illegals and non-citizens to vote.

Sorry for the verbose post, but the response to your comment necessitated a somewhat longer response.

I am anxious to see where voter fraud goes from here. I saw obama telling illegals to vote and vote often. I saw cliton telling her hordes of illegals to vote. Im just an old goat living in the way things were. I dont understand why anyone would encourage illegals to vote. Its totally unAmerican. But again I’m just living in the old world.

Some of the accusations thrown at the prosecutors by the baby acting left are very very typical of this crowd. Personally , I believe the [punishments should be MUCH greater for marring, perhaps, the most important part of our republic’s process. It is apparent to ALL that the left ALWAYS cheats & uses subversive methods & they SHOULD be held accountable & held in shame. The time for tolerance that borders on sin is OVER.

Voter fraud is everywhere, National and Local. When the Silent Majority is willing to get off their asses, and vote, the right outcome is just ahead. mccain and romney, BOTH were picked by the Left, and we saw the results of that so-called vote. I don’t believe the Left had to cheat to win those.

Voter ID can be a drivers’ license with a photo on it. No EARLY VOTING! The only absentee voting is reserved for the military, period.

Term limits are needed also.

I’m done…

Voter fraud is prevalent in California because almost all ballot measures are to increase the wealth of the State. So the government has a stake in making sure it passes whether the vote is legal or not. Ultimately, the legal taxpayers will get stuck with paying off some of Gov Brown’s (the II) ideas about bullet trains when the Orville Dam remains leaking.

Zuckerberg, who owns FB, is an admitted Progressive Democrat. So are almost everyone else that works at FB. Kind of a job requirement to work there. So any attempt to post anything even remotely conservative will be flagged and immediately removed by their new “fact checking” (it is actually used to censor opposing points of view) software. So don’t waste your time with FB.

Why would the left ignore voter fraud? A. They solicit it, how many times have we heard the phrase: “Vote early and vote often!” (In the 2016 election Obama even asked illegals to vote in a public speech.) B. They have progressive organizations like ACORN and Bring Out The Vote, register voters, and as shown by Project Veritas, discard registrations of conservatives, or register fictitious characters like Mickey Mouse to vote for their progressive agenda. C. They are the beneficiaries, so much so that it has become a standing joke that people in Chicago might vote Republican only until they die, after their death they all vote Democrat (in perpetuity!)
Stealing elections is not a crime for Democrats, for them it is an art form, and amongst themselves they grade it for performance, impact, and audacity. The only thing that will end this practice is not public shaming (their conscience is seared), it is not sporadic prosecution (in their minds it is totally worth it, enough will go undetected “The ends justify the means”), it is voter I.D. laws that require proof of citizenship. Requiring proof of citizenship is not racist, or anti-minority (to say they are is racist and anti-minority, insulting the intelligence of minorities to be able to provide proof as all others do), it is a legitimate requirement to preserve the sovereign process of self-determination by the citizens of these United States of America.

The same left is also claiming that President Trump is not trying to protect Americans from illegal immigrants, but ‘suppressing’ the immigration rights of Muslims with his travel bans. Nothing new under the sun.

Of course the Left will dismiss the voter fraud issue.
Aren’t they counting on it and open borders
To win elections and power
How else can they run on agendas that are illogical and contrary to common sense ?

PaulE

The left is NOT ignoring voter fraud. They are the ones consistently committing it in order to try and swing elections to Democrats. They won’t publicly acknowledge voter fraud exists, because that would be shining a light on themselves. So they try to change the subject by stating that any sort of calls for verifiable photo voter ID laws are evidence of racism by the right. Standard socialist play. Shout racism to shift the focus away from the whatever the issue at hand is. The ignorant of our society fall for it every time. The left doesn’t care about facts, as the end of your article calls for the left to acknowledge. What they care about is winning elections by any means necessary, including voter fraud, and gaining more power over society and then ultimately enriching themselves by bleeding society of its accumulated wealth. That is the end game of all socialist / communist movements around the world.

You would greatly benefit your members if you stepped up the quality of your articles. Get away from these “both sides share the same goals” type of pieces, where the writer calls for the left to just to acknowledge this or that. All so we can achieve a common goal. Reality check: 1) The left knows exactly what is going on. They are NOT ignorant or misguided as most writers continue to speculate in article after article. 2) The left does NOT share the same values or desired societal goals as the right. So expecting support from those on the left for solutions proposed by the right is a non-starter.

AMAC can now quickly delete these comments, since the comments are NOT what AMAC wants to see. I’m sure what you were looking for were comments along the lines of: “Oh wow! What a great and informative article. I never knew any of this. I hope people on the left read this and realize they have to work with us to get stronger voter ID laws in place.” Then everyone can break out in a rousing chorus of kumbaya as the left continues its efforts to transform the nation into a socialist Utopia.

Paul, you speak TRUTH to power! Those people who are open-borders and are subverting our families and education systems do NOT deserve to be Americans. Because socialism is incompatible with the Constitution (property rights, freedom of speech and religion, etc), socialists must be sent to a socialist country of their choice (whether it be in Europe or even Cuba and North Korea, etc). Because the Koran requires political loyalty be placed first on Sharia Law, moslems must be evicted back to their countries of origin (unless they agree to sign an oath respecting the integrity of Constitutional jurisprudence). Sharia Law cannot be allowed anywhere in the US. Abolish all laws and provisions such as affirmative action because they are insulting to various ethnicities, races or national origin.

Paul you are correct. More and more the left actually admit to their socialist(communist if truth be told) leanings because they are no longer afraid of “letting the cat out of the bag.” Trump was elected(not my first choice mind you) because he showed conservative voters that he was a fighter, something we haven’t had in a long time. What we are still waiting for is a congress that is also willing to take these marxists in the democrat party head on with a ferociousness they haven’t seen before. I doubt they will do it as the “republican” party are a bunch of milquetoasts. They wouldn’t even send the same obamacare repeal bill to trump that they sent to obama six times because; they knew obama would veto it every time and trump would have signed it.
