My family was stationed with the Navy on Midway Island, a mile and a half by 2 mile pile of sand in the middle of the Pacific 1958-1960. My parents were both AVID newspaper readers who went through withdrawals on Midway when we learned there were NO newspapers – not even The Stars and Stripes! TV was on 6 pm – 10 pm and was reruns of programs we had seen in the states and NO news! The radio was our lifeline but that 5 minute news snippit was very unsatisfying. Great publication when I was in the USMC, in Viet Nam, and the U.S. I will now try to access it, ‘online’. I, also missed the answer, but am now glad to have the Correct answer, Thank You! And, Thank You, for letting me know it is now available ‘online’ for everyone.

I must admit I missed the answer, but am glad to know it. The Stars and Stripes was a great publication during my time in the Navy from 1971 to 1975.
