How to Solve America’s Spending Problem

from – PragerU

Everyone complains about America’s debt, and rightly so, but how do we get out of it? As Cato Institute’s Michael Tanner explains, spending on entitlement programs — Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — has exploded in recent decades. We must slow their growth or they will soon swallow the entire federal budget. In five minutes, learn how America can preserve these programs and get out of debt.

Lets take some of the people on welfare and have them be nannies and send the mothers and dads to do all those farm jobs no one wants ?? Charge the farmers the same as he pays the illegals . Greatly reduce welfare and take jobs back from ( undocumented) ILLEGAL immigrants . Should save a few pennies .

If we don’t get this 2016 Presidential election right (ex., voting for Obama twice–when you knew better), we will be left with few options other than to march on Washington, DC and force Congress to adopt TERM LIMITS so we can bring in more TEA PARTY candidates who will swear to respect and defend the Constitution of the United States at all costs!! “Rome is burning and Nero (Obama) is fiddling”. We cannot allow Rome’s destiny (READ: corrupt celebrity ruling elites, astronomical public debt, inconclusive military campaigns, divide-and-conquer public policy, weak and incompetent (federal) leadership, etc.) to be our destiny!! WE ARE DONE WITH THIS ADMNISTRATION!!

Why just talk about saving $$ on Medicare and Medicaid…………what about all the millions spent on illegals welfare,
food stamps, housing, cell phones etc…………….let’s be real!!

I am really getting tired and upset when Social Security and Medicare is lumped into entitlement spending. I, as well as many other tax paying citizens, have paid into these two programs all of our working lives. Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements, they are paid for and earned. Instead of cutting or adjusting these two programs, lets look at other entitlements. Such as Medicaid, Welfare and other government giveaways that go to illegal immigrants. Oh, I’m sorry, they do not like the term “illegal immigrant”, they say “no person is illegal”. So, lets change the term, lets call it what it is, outlaw immigrants. An outlaw is a person living outside the law. Since they came into our country without proper documentation, they are living outside the law, therefore, OUTLAW IMMIGRANTS. Instead of rewarding the outlaws, and punishing hard working, tax paying, legal US citizens, lets do what is right.

Why doesn’t the government order the IRS to collect on back taxes from the likes of “Reverend” Al Sharpton? He owes millions. I’m sure that 1000 of these million-dollar-babies who owe back taxes can be found easily. Sure would help the trillions of dollars the government is in debt if we collected on THOSE debts!!!!

Is AMAC competing with AARP or UURP?

Yes. It is competing directly with AARP. I hate AARP. They backed Odummercare. Stupid, stupid, stupid. AMAC works just like AARP, but most definitely opposes the “Affordable HealthCare Act” and other things, like Planned Parenthood. It’s the conservative answer to the liberal AARP.

Almost every article and newscast I read and listen to constantly blames Social Security. It is perfectly fine to give millions, even billions to other countries and to anchor babies, baby’s mamas, etc., etc., but good gosh those dam baby boomers are bringing down the whole country. Wow, no one complained while we were working and paying into the system. There was plenty of money and boy did they appreciate the extra. As for “entitlement”, I don’t think so and I am so sick and tired of hearing that word. Looks like this site likes to rub it in as well and on top of that a 24 percent
tax. Are you competing with aarp or uurp.?

you go Granny!!!! You are exactly right!!!! I paid into Social Security and Medicare for FORTY years, before having to retire at 54 on SSDI!!!! NOW, instead of being lauded as a upright and outstanding taxpayer, I’M THE PROBLEM with the debt crises!!!!! QUIT paying BILLIONS into anchor babies and illegal alien (I REFUSE to call the undocumented workers……..they’re nothing more than CROOKS if they’re here ILLEGALLY), BILLIONS to IRAN of all places, so they can make nukes and BILLIONS to other countries who hate us and burn our flags and our burn our Presidents in effigy and BEHEAD Christians and abduct, rape and murder Christian women!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entitlements are not the problem, the problem is a welfare system that breaks up working poor family so the mother can get everything paid for and have a live in boyfriend(making as much or more than hubby did. Lets reduce welfare (make it better to work), keep families together (help them only with income shortfall), not pay more for new babies(take the profit out of welfare). THE $17 TRILLION DEBT IS ABOUT EQUAL TO 50 YEARS OF DOMESTIC WELFARE.

We need to stop trying to buy friendly countries. As a kid, I was taught not to mixed money with friendships(allies), this only allows your enemies to mix in with friends and use your money to hurt you(drugs weapons and terrorism).

We need to stop the BS about political correctness and everyone needs to grow-up, mature and stop blaming everyone else for things wrong in their life. Racism is alive an well in the minds of hate promoters like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Obama and their proteges.

Constitutionally the federal government has only one itemized responsibility to spend money. That is to provide for the common defense. The entirety of any other federal spending is only to do those things that the individual states are unable to do. In other words, the federal government has no business in education, healthcare, or any number of other things. If the feds would simply get out of what they shouldn’t have been in in the first place the budget would be cut in half. With that kind of savings at the federal level the national debt could be wiped out in about twenty years.

Yes, the states would have to pick up the slack on some things, but they would be far more frugal with funds since the vast majority of them already have a balanced budget amendment to their constitutions.

Wonderful idea!!! And you’re right!!! I’d LOVE to get the damn Federal government to shrink back into what the Constitution originally had planned!!!!

It’s already too late. “Reduce the rate of growth?” By what magnatude? “Increase the retirement age to qualify?” How does that reduce debt already incurred? “Seventeen trillion in debt?” How much is that in per capata debt? That’s somewhere around 51 or 52 thousand per person, or over 153,000 per family of three. With savings in the private sector at about or approaching ZERO, where is that to come from?
The only way out of this is to either die or to begin to decrease the dependancy on government as the be all and end all of our existance, and to stop our move to relieve the rest of the world from their self-induced hardships at the expense of increasing our own.
Companies of all sizes who find themselves in such dire straits have a final out: declare bankruptcy. Wonder what the world’s response would be should the U.S. do that?

Those guys over at the Cato institute are always eager to dupe the American taxpayer into believing that Social Security is responsible for the nation’s debt.

The fact that the American taxpayer has to foot the bill for trillions of dollars in unnecessary wars and billions more for protecting countries like the Saudis who spend their billions financing terrorists the Cato institute closes their eyes to this massive waste of our taxpayer dollars.

Geez, BozO, you forgot to mention ALL the taxpayers monies that go to support illegal “anchor babies” AND their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and grandparents, you know, the 40 million of them who “snuck” into our country. And let’s not forget ALL those low income Democratic voters who, we taxpayers, are subsidizing their Obamacare medical coverage. Then don’t forget, we can close ALL those “dirty” three letter government agencies that are handcuffing American businesses and citizens, like the EPA, FDA, and the IRS!!! … You NEVER tell the whole story, do you?

Thumbs up to you!!!! No one seems to mention cuts to the REAL problems….some of which you outlined!!! I am so furious to the billions of dollars we’re sending to Iran so they can build nukes!!!! And the billions of dollars spent on Planned Parenthood to butcher babies and sell their body parts!!!! Anchor babies!!! Illegal aliens!!! I wonder if anyone has calculated how much money would be saves if we but those programs out????????? Trillions, maybe????
