Hey Pelosi, What Do You Think of My Suggestions?

JedediahVia Jedediah Bila at Breitbart News

It looks like Nancy Pelosi will be rolling out an economic agenda for women. I thought I’d be a friend and help her out with some suggestions.

1) Repeal ObamaCare. Female business owners around the country would be eternally grateful (as would young females who don’t want to be told they have to have health insurance or pay a fine, and those of us who don’t want overstuffed bureaucracy getting between us and our doctors). Also, we like the idea of keeping our doctors. (As it turns out, Nancy, the bill you passed in order to find out what was in it might not let us do that.)

2) Protect babies from abortion. Those unborn babies, many of them female, deserve the chance to become great artists, talented musicians, company CEOs, or president of the United States, right?

3) Keep those taxes low. We hard-working ladies like to keep our hard-earned cash. Some of us are saving for an apartment, others for a kid’s college fund. (Those low taxes go for businesses too. High-powered female CEOs hire people like me, and we wouldn’t want a big tax burden to discourage them.)

4) Get rid of that overregulation. We women like to hold on to our jobs, so let’s keep businesses wanting to be in our neighborhoods. Otherwise we’ll have to move (from places like California, but I digress).

5) School choice. Let’s give young girls a chance to succeed at the best school they can find. Let’s give moms and dads options. Let’s help kids in poor neighborhoods have choices, just as those with greater financial means do. (And while we’re at it, let’s incentivize good teachers–many of them women–with merit pay.)

6) Talk real female empowerment. Let’s be honest, the Julia campaign was a condescending mess. Women are strong and capable. We don’t need cradle-to-grave government care. What we need is opportunity. So let’s talk more founding-feminist principles (personal responsibility, ambition, self-sufficiency) and less big-government distortions of those principles. Because to assume we’re powerless is pretty insulting.

So, there you have it. That wasn’t so hard, right?

P.S.–Nancy, some people love to divide the country up into special interest groups–women, Hispanics, African Americans, men, you name it. As it turns out, those people are just looking for votes. (Sad, right?) The good news? All of my suggestions above would benefit people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. Good policy is good policy; it doesn’t divide, it unites.

So let’s call it an economic agenda for all, not an economic agenda for women. Because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together. At least from where I’m standing.

Someone said they wanted abortion after birth. I’m still thinking about this a week later. What the #%$# have we become? I can’t get this thought out of my mind. Kill you’re child it’s ok even after being born. However don’t go out and buy a big gulp. You could get in very serious trouble. We desperately need guardrails for morality. Between being Politically Correct and no moral values this country is wide open for serious trouble. Being outside looking in SOMEONE could say we can do ANYTHING WE WANT. These Americans are so stupid. I hope we have not crossed that line.YET

Steve: that was for a planned deception to show just how dumb the average American is. Like when we asked people to sign a document during Viet Nam, while we were dressed as hippies. They all refused and called us commies. The document was the Declaration of Independence. Not much has changed since then.

How about calling people and things what 5hey really are an American. Not Irish-American, African-American. YOU ARE AN AMERICAN. you may be of Irish, African, Polish, German,Japanese, Indian, British, or Mexican descent. Who cares! YOU’RE AN AMERICAN, a proud citizen of the Republic of The United States of America.

I agree.

But the term must be applied unambiguously! Illegal immigrants are ILLEGAL, and in no way American. Yet they somehow played a significant role in the election of a black-CAUCASIAN of doubtful credentials who despises America and insists on resurrecting RACISM! What we need to resurrect is THE GREAT AMERICAN MELTING POT where LEGAL immigrants not only bring the richness of their culture, but strive to become Americans in their hearts!

Every time I hear the term “African American” I want to puke. My Great Grandmother was from S. Wales, my Grandfather on my Mother’s side was from Sicily. What does that make me? A Welsh-Sicilian-American? Should I put that on all my forms instead of “caucasian” ????? IF, in fact a person is born in Africa and then becomes an American citizen, I would willingly call them an African-American — but they SHOULD be just an American – right? And many many folks from South Africa ARE WHITE – so, should we also call them African-Americans when they immigrate here? 98% of those calling themselves African-Americans haven’t gotten any closer ties to Africa than I do. What was wrong with the term “Negro”????? Why not Black? We are called “white”, so why can’t they be black Americans? Why? Because the Race Pimps, Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and others want to push the issue, that’s why. Obama is a Mullatto – plain and simple. A mixed race American – (IF, IN FACT AN AMERICAN AT ALL) – they can shove all this P.C. stuff back down the rat hole it emerged from! And, if showing I.D. to vote is discriminatory and a hardship on the “poor” – how do they cash checks, buy beer or even Sudafed???? We had to show a photo I.D. recently to purchase a can of spray paint for crying out loud!!!!!! I should have screamed that my civil rights were being violated over a can of Rustoleum!

We should all read what Theodore Roosevelt said about being American. It is on the web. We should also, be reminded of who from this country fought in WWII and why thy fought. Americans fought to defend not only their freedom but the freedom of those who were much less fortunate. The Americans came in all colors shapes and sizes. Some weren’t treated as well as others. Yet, they were Americans — not all these little subsets that can’t agree about anything except the fact that they want they deserve something more and for nothing.
We’ve come a long way in the past 50 years and its time we get our oars in the water and start rowing in the same direction again. Its Americans that made this country great — not any individual or subset of individuals. Race and ethnicity baiting is an awful thing that is purposely designed to disrupt and divide through lies and “phony” rhetoric.
We must all stand up for each other and with each other to take back and return this country to being the great beacon of democracy that it once was (not that many years ago, I might add).

The demagogues in government, from the very top down, are plagued by “INVERTED DIGESTIVE TRACT SYNDROME”. The main symptom is an extreme idiotic cacophony that emanates from the mouth when speaking. Nasty Pelosi contracted this malady by her long association with those already infected.

It seems there is no cure, so those afflicted must be removed from office. The remedy is term limits.

Robert Wyatt

Let’s see:
1- Obama care, Didn’t the princess say we needed to pass it to find out what is in it? Then she later said she read the thing, and now she is acting like she doesn’t know what is in it.

2- Abortion, women’s rights, and they should be able to choose. Have the baby and be responsible for your actions, or keep your underwear on and once again be responsible for your actions. Abortion is holding an unborn ‘baby human’ responsible for your irresponsible actions.

3- Taxes, I have never met a politician who hasn’t come across a tax that they didn’t like or, God forbid, entertain a thought of repealing it.

4- Business Regulations, That is were they achieve their greatest orgasms by ‘running other people’s lives’.

5- School Choice, Never happen. These failing schools that do not teach anything about our country and it’s greatness is where they get their voter base, which would be much larger if they didn’t allow fetal genocide.

Have you ever noticed that all the screeching hags in a crowd of “Pro Choice” protestors are ones that no decent man would want to impregnate in the first place?????? If they ever got lucky enough to find someone to have sex with them, one would hope that one of them would use a form of birth control – besides the paper bag on her face, that is.

How can they call NOT WANTING to murder an innocent baby “a war on women” ? The choice to have sex with no form of birth control IS THEIR CHOICE – not the fetus – so how about these loose legged broads read up on how to prevent a pregnancy BEFORE IT HAPPENS!!!!!

If the extremists were dumped on our side, I would agree with you. However, these holier-than-thou freaks of nature think they have the right to tell a 14 year-old who was raped by her step-father to go through with the pregnancy and then give it away like a holiday gift. I would back more restrictions on abortions if the flamers on the right would get out of the picture. Those of you who scream, “no abortions ever” are just as ignorant and uncaring as the nuts on the left who scream, “abortions for anyone, anytime, for any reason”..
In my decades of family practice, I counseled many females on alternatives to abortion. Most of them listened. There were times however, that abortion was the lesser of the evils involved. Sadly most avid anti-abortion folks know very little about the emotional scars of having a baby and having to give it away, so they really need to shut up and mind their own business.

Nancy Pelosi, should shut-up, sit down and color! That is if she has the mentality to color? She is nothing but a, liberal, free mason hiding behind what she calls the Catholic Faith. Her dishonesty, lying, stealing of tax payer’s money, belief, and silent promoting of abortions will all be judge by God. How does she associate with the current adminstration, many others in California and Washington, and profess to be not for abortions. A person is for, or against abortion, no-more or no-less! Pro-life is a misleading statement. It may mean, a person is only against the death penalty, but for abortions. Nancy Pelosi is a hypocrite!

The author makes some very sound economic points in her article. However, Nancy Pelosi isn’t interested in sound economic solutions. She’s interested in promoting an agenda based on ever-increasing government control and spending, which by its very nature would mean that higher across the board taxes would be needed to fund this ideology.

As for what Nancy Pelosi will be rolling out in the way of an economic blueprint, I would say look at what organizations like Center for American Progress, Think America, and the various other socialist think tanks have been advocating for years. Don’t be surprised if what Nancy Pelosi proposes aligns quite well with what these organizations, because in all honesty, one or more of these organizations is actually writing Nancy Pelosi’s proposal for her.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, is a tremendous burden on economic growth. Small business which is the engine of economic growth can’t afford the mandates placed on them by this piece of poorly written legislation. Many medium and large companies are hiring part time workers instead of full time workers because of the unaffordable health care requirements. The name of this legislation may sound nice but the legislation isn’t sound. It will not lead to patient protection and it is not affordable. Obama has been running deficits of more than a trillion dollars every year since he was elected in 2008. Instead of adding new programs we should be looking for ways to eliminate and cut old ones. WE ARE BANKRUPT!

Taxes are too high, spending is out of control, regulation is too burdensome, and the Federal Reserve is pumping liquidity into the economy at an alarming rate. These policies will not create prosperity they will impede it.

Jedediah’s six suggestions are good ones. I would add two more: 1. Keep the dollar sound. 2. Cut spending.

The author is standing in the wrong place. I am middle aged,; and for the first time in my life I am earning my own living by running my own business. Actually, I am running two businesses by myself to make ends meet. I’ve been without health insurance since some CEO’s new boat replaced a career at which I was an employee who performed more than very competently, very productively, and very profitably. What the end of my career came down to is that guys new boat. But note that I said I’ve been without health insurance.

That means that I’ve lived without healthcare for almost ten years.

In October I’ll enroll in California Covered. that is California’s response to the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act. For the first time in nearly ten years I’ll have comprehensive, affordable healthcare that will not exclude preexisting conditions, and will not have lifetime limits. The small subsidy I will receive, based upon my limited income, will make the difference between comprehensive health insurance that I can afford, and no health insurance at all.

Repeal the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act? lol, The author is standing in the wrong place. I’ll be absolutely sure to let Congressperson Pelosi know, as soon as I’m finished here. I’ll even reference the author’s letter to Ms. Pelosi.

Obamacare will NOT give you healthcare…it will demand you purchase health care insurance. If you don’t buy insurance you would be fined. You had better look into what is in it before you start supporting it. 85% of obamacare has nothing to do with health care…it has to do with lobbyists & special interest groups. It will put you OUT of business before it helps your business!

David Newman doesn’t seem to have time to be up on the present day news events. What with all the work he is doing, being self employed, with two businesses takes up all of his day and night. California is on the verge of bankruptcy, by the way the state is following closely like the city of Detroit. Just how long do you think it will be for the so called ‘funds’ for California Covered to dissolve? Come back in “ten years” and let us know what peace of mind and “affordable healthcare” you obtained for your “enroll”ment (October).
Obamacare. Afforceable Care Tax. This is one of the most disastrous “TAXES” even perpetrated on the American working citizen. Man or woman. We need fiscally responsible adults serving the citizens, not career politicians serving themselves. Pelosi being one.
Don’t take this all the wrong way, David. I do care that some creep of a boss tossed you out. He will reap the effect of his actions, though you may never see what that looks like. It is good to hear that someone has been able to start TWO businesses in the job climate we are going through. Congratulations. You might think about moving to a different state, as Cali is going towards insolvency on a fast train.

Let me know when you get your tax bill. Then add these to it:

10% rise in property tax (to occur when Obamacare ends its federal subsidy to the state in 2016)–#2 after education costs.

3.67% tax on any sale (including homes) valued at over $250,000 (half of california) for persons earning over $200,000 (meaning you with two jobs–or are you planning on cheating on your taxes, making the US taxpayer pay for all your business deductions?)…This is in ADDITION to the probable 20% capital gains tax.

3% tax on medical implements manufacturing (to be passed on to the end user)–hope you don’t need Band Aids or prosthetics

Forget Medicaid, that money was taken from the seniors, to give to the state, combined with the medical tax on young employee to benefit the middle class; this, combined with the increase in property tax above, and you should be sitting pretty

Since the elderly would thus not be able to afford a property tax increase, they will thus sell their home in order to afford higher medical bils or emergency events, thus making a housing glut probably in 2020, thus reducing housing prices, then housing jobs, then more unemployment….think long term, no one else is.

And then , if and when you become a senior, God forbid you need special treatment, and seek out the state’s (remember, not federal) Medicaid office, the state might turn you over to the IPAB for their decision to spend dollars on some exhorbitant treatment that would not be available to a “non-productive over a long term” individual.

I had three businesses at one time, but I work 16 hours as well…I then had two heart attacks, needing 5 stents. Each stent cost me $26,000. If I need another, I will have to spend another $4,000 each–that is, if the IPAB approves…at the moment, I’m busy making friends with their members, so when Medicare budget increases next year, I’ll be ready.

So, let’s add this up:

35% federal, state, and possibly local payroll tax
7% sales tax
50% gasoline tax
“fee” for driver license, car registration
30% property tax
capital gains tax (might as well dump all my investments this year, including my home)–there goes the stock market
FICA
1% tax on all financial transactions

I’m sure I missed some…not to worry, the IRS has me covered (or un-covered)…

this was NOT started by Obama, but by the Democratic controlled Congress since 2006…look at the GDP since then and you’ll be surprised at how fast our debt increased…

NEVER in my life have I heard a politician announce and demand that her compadres “sign the damn thing and we’ll see what’s in it later”–the PEOPLE demand a public discourse with deliberation. And THAT is why many hate Congress and this President (ahem, take a look at the “Caesar Bill” so-called–Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011 S.679 –if the President or his Board for vetting candidates for nomination don’t like the questions to be asked of a candidate, well, they can just eliminate those particular questions–look at very bottom). This was another Bill that no one read, yet it became law in 2012, started by Charles Schumer of NY; that’s right, the one who started the run on the banks in 2008 that started this whiole mess–but he was “just the messenger.”

Give me a break…
