The Grey Haired Brigade

Author Unknown  –

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers and in some cases, dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers,” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.

We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote ‘The Pledge of Allegiance’ and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America, we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms, but carried the same flag. We know the words to ‘The Star Spangled Banner,’ ‘America’ and ‘America, the Beautiful’ by heart and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days, but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it and died for it and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love, but like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was the young, ill-bred people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. What a heart-breaking disappointment!

You fell for the “Hope and Change,” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.” You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, higher food and gas prices and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the ‘Torch of Liberty’ and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like, but we get where we’re going and in 2012 we’re going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House, nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say ‘The Pledge of Allegiance,’ Stand Up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country and thank God for the old geezers of the “Grey-Haired Brigade!”

Power to “WE the people!!”

I have now had my three score and ten years (grey hair) and still love life. But boy was I sad to read such disappointing and rather bitter comment on one side of the political spectrum. No President has an easy ride to doing what he thinks is right, but some really try to help the people as a whole. Others just ensure that commercial giants keep control and grow richer, in the worst case on the graves of honest military men and women. The defense business does too well..
Good luck to America in the coming election. Make sure you vote for a “man for the whole people” who is not too much of a bigot.

16a14035233I and also my pals came checking out the best tthguohs found on your site while immediately I had an awful feeling I never thanked the web blog owner for those secrets. All the young boys became as a consequence warmed to see all of them and have in effect surely been taking pleasure in these things. Thanks for actually being really helpful and for choosing these kinds of great tips millions of individuals are really desperate to understand about. My sincere regret for not expressing appreciation to you sooner. 195

I will be 57 yrs. old this coming August and am still working. I don’t have enough time to get out and help save our Country and am absolutely depending upon all you wonderful Grey Haired Brigade members to do it. I KNOW you’re up to the challenge! I am so very thankful to have discovered AMAC and Fox News and all the other enlightening conservative resources out there. Count me as one of you who believe that if we don’t take our Country back this next election, we may not EVER have another election. I can remember my wonderful Mother (God rest her soul) telling my brother and me from early on (when the Kennedy’s were in power) that Communism would not come in to take our Country; that if we fell, we would fall from within. I never thought I’d be seeing it happen before my very eyes in my lifetime. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE vote for our Republican nominee (and it looks to be Romney who I wouldn’t have chosen but will back 100% if/when nominated). I want to thank each and every one of you for all you’re doing and all you WILL do between now and November to save our Country! You are our ONLY HOPE! The schools have indoctrinated our children (except those of us who are raising good Christian, conservative children whom I have one of) from grammer school up through college and we cannot count on the majority of them to save us. Again I say YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE!!!!!!

God Bless You All!!!!!

It’s about time the government stopped treating us like children, unable to make decisions for ourselves and requiring their intervention in almost every aspect of our lives. It was and is the PEOPLE of this country that made it great. Obama and his staff are tearing apart the very fabric that the PEOPLE have built from decades of sweat and tears. Don’t let him continue for another 4 years. Yes, he stand for change. He has an agenda and he wants to bring this country to it’s knees. I will be in my knees but it will be in prayer. God help us all.

Don’t vote for egotistical people. God told them to run etc.etc. etc. We have a egotistic in the office of President now.
Its all about him ( I will do this or that, changing words, instead of spending (what we do not have) its called investments.
What we need is Mitt Rommey to win. Tell him what you want he goes in and makes it happen in a civil, intelligent way.
No bragging just what is a humble wonderful person. He is a happy, smart, can do person. You want jobs he will do it. In otherwords its not because he awoke for the press and news people to follow him around, build his ego and ruin your life. Mr. Rommey is for you, thank you.

The Democrats want people to depend on the government so they will keep voting them in. It is all about control.

I just hope the Republicans have a good plan of action. They should not argue among themselves, but just give out the facts when they campaign. They need to enlighten the ignorant people who think they can’t take care of themselves and need to much help from the government. The main idea is to get Obama out. They can’t lose this election. Our country will not stand another four years of the policies that Democrats intend to put in.

I think whom ever becomes president is not as important as the members of Congress. We need to clean the trash out of the halls od Congress. Every member of Congress along with the entire staff needs to be removed and term limits installed. Do away with professional government employees in Congress.

. Same experience while I was in Bangalore. It is hlbirroe. What a day and night difference between the istore in US and India. It wrings my heart to see the brand being managed thus. Perhaps Apple does not care for quality of working force in China or India?

I don’t remember the crank autos or the ice delivered by horse & wagon, but pretty much all the rest is there in my memory. My father grew up on a dairy in the Columbia River Basin and they delivered milk to the local creamery by horse-drawn wagon. He eventually moved to Northern California and in doing so I did end up initially attending a two-room country school with only outhouses, one each for girls and boys. My father was a Marine, but I joined the US Army and ended up going to ‘Nam. I have no regrets … I had served my country, but then again my country has served me. I went on to become a scientist, but retired a couple of years ago. However, my greatest fear is that the current and future generations will no longer have the opportunities that this country has provided to many of us. Personal freedom depends upon all us taking personal responsibility for our decisions; and the greatest responsibility that we all have is to vote. Perhaps the greatest test of democracy in recent history is that which awaits us this coming November. May we all have the strength to guide our country back onto a sustainable course of enduring freedom.

I was born in Erie Pa in 1940. I grew up in a middle income family. My Dad and Grand Dad worked for the same company for their entire life. They were both Demcrats. The first time I voted I registered as a Democrat. I voted for democrats most of my life until I voted for President Regan. I have voted for a Republican ever since until I voted for King Obama in 2008. He fooled me has much as he did many others. I regret that vote. I will be voting for who ever the Republican Candidate is. We can’t let King Obama have another 4yrs so he can continue to turn our America into a socialist country. We also need to vote all of the democratic liberals out of congress.

Voted and be counted! Socialism and Liberalism are killing America and so many examples around the world prove it. Information is the key to our success. The talking heads on tv are just that and they rarely verify what they say. Why should they? The networks have a script for them to read what they want you to hear. Wow!!

The Grey Haired Brigaide said it all, but how do we get that idea out to our young people and others who have been betrayed.? They refuse to read or watch anything that is not produced by the liberal media. They call Fox the devil.
They won’t listen to the warnings. They shout us down and resent our knowledge from experience. Sadly, I am talking about my own children and grandchildren. Their answers to me are, “We are better educated, better read and better world travelled.. They even, due to their travels, believe that Europe has the answers. They are what they call good Catholics but take Obama’s side in the most recent attack on religious freedom. My heart is heavy. God, we need you!

I wonder what your kids/grandkids consider “better read?” Ignoring the *fair and balanced” information presented by Fox and going strictly off the liberal media is leaving them uninformed. Having been stationed in both Germany and Italy, I am familiar with the European lifestyle. We also have friends living in England, and they do not consider their life all that great. My prayers go out to you and your family, and I hope your “good Catholic” family members will see the light soon.

We need to vote for the Republican nominee who ever it might be, or we will spit our vote & have another 4 yrs. of Obama which we can not afford!

I’d love a hugh yard sign “They are trying to kill me and I’m not ready.” with a big Red Circle with a slash across the Obama Seal. (Don’t remember anyother candidate who had his own insignia.,)

Many of us who are members of the Grey Brigade feel the same way, but numerous one of those in our age group are just as grasping and selfish as the children they raised. Yes, they view the past days with some reverence, but now want as much of the freebies and goodies they can mooch from the taxpayers. All age groups e have become, I feel, mortally infected with the disease of mooching.

Born in 1943 and reared on a farm in the Midwest, I remember we went to work when everybody else went on vacation. My Dad worked a dairy farm and in the rubber factories also, we chopped and blew hay into the mow until the floor inched down several inches, harvested corn for silage, fed animals, and cleaned out the barn every spring
I worked for the state in rehabilitation counseling and remember the professor from Franklin University telling us that at one time the Midwest “was the most productive area on the globe” – steel from Cleveland, Youngstown, Pittsburgh, rubber from Akron, the auto industry in MI (Pontiac, Detroit, Saginaw) and farming, pottery, etc.
Missing in the above article was the phrase “Many of the grey haired brigade have returned to work in their 50’s and 60’s” and I don’t mean just as door greeters at WalMart!! This is the same generation who are raising their grandchildren, “tweeners” with aging parents and grandchildren who need not just grandparents but parents.
Gone are the dreams of early (or late) retirement, the nest egg and the traveling (due to the economy – and the economy). Both are a product of Socialism, the “sharing of wealth” (when “wealth” is having one pot and not two!) and the resultant loss of jobs, infrastructure, and all that goes with it including “Hope” and “Change” (from good to better and not to worse).

Solution: “Early to bed and early to rise”, a good (cooked) breakfast and not pick-up from McDonald’s, making your bed, picking up your room, helping with chores around the house (and not for an allowance but because “you’re family”) homework, conversation (yeah Dad and Mom, that includes you so your kids learn how to be civilized and talk with people), and doing (playing games, etc) together (like a family?) Reward good behavior and correct that which is “less nice”. Take the family to church, learn the Bible together and apply it to daily life so your kids learn to do the same thing – this is learning to be “civil” and not from Hollywood, Broadway, and TV!

I said AMEN but I forgot to add ..How do we get our counrtry back? The one man I thought could get this country back on an even keel has dropped out of the race and we’re left with a phoney Rebublican, Romney. I just don’t know what to do other than some sort of “write in ” campaign. So far Santorum is the only Republican with a backbone and I’d like to see him back in the race. Please someone out there with computer and Internet know-how get a campaign going to “WRITE-IN” Santorum’s name on the ballot when we go to vote

Reply to  Barb Pivarnik

Barb, I think it would be “Playing with fire” to use a write-in vote for anyone other than the Republican nominee. Romnee isn’t my choice either, but if he gets the nomination, we should all get behind him and defeat Obama. A write-in will only serve to dilute the conservative effort in the upcoming election.

More over, we all need to get out and vote for the most conservative legislators running for office. We need to control the legislative branch as well as the executive branch. Romney might not be the best choice for President, but he is far far better than the marxian socialist we have now.

We all need to remember that this year’s election isn’t the last election. Our efforts must continue forward.

Thank you, Larry, you made the point that should be made here!! A write-in vote or a 3rd party vote for anyone other than the nominee is a vote for obozo!!!! PLEASE don’t do that!! We may not like Rombama, but without Gingrich, he’s all we got, sorry to say!! Gingrich is the BETTER MAN!!
Here, again, don’t dilute the vote for the conservative nominee!!

When Obama ran for president I would engage people in political debate as to why they would vote for him. After all I would inform them that he had no experience for this position along with not being vetted properly. Do you not see how the media is fawning after him? But he is going to change Washington, he is not like the others, they would reply. Did you review his voting record on key issues I would retort. Oh, you just don’t want a black man as president. WHAT! That’s your argument. I’ve seen enough politicans in my lifetime to know when the Emperor has no clothes. Let’s hope all the “enlightened” people awake for this coming election and look at the character of a man and not at the color of his skin as a Rev. King once alluded to.

Sad to say, I worked the polls and turnout was “20%”, not a good harbinger of a critical election in Nov!!

I was born in the middle of the baby boom generation 1954 but I do remember many of the things in this article like outhouses and saying the Pledge of Allegiance when I was in grade school and even in Jr. high and high school the younger generation were sold a bill of goods that sounded good but when it came home to roost turned out to be a socialistic bill of goods in medical insurance and the government taking more and more of our rights as a people. We as the older generation need to get out and make our voices heard in this election year and let them know we are still around even if we are getting older and slower but we are not dead yet are we.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
