September 2, 1944: During a World War II bombing mission in the Pacific, a young torpedo bomber pilot and future President of the United States of America, George H.W. Bush, encountered heavy anti-aircraft fire. His plane was struck and he was forced to bail out over the ocean.
June 12, 2014: Nearly seventy years after that first fateful jump over the Pacific, and fulfilling a promise that he made five years ago (when he last jumped out of an airplane to celebrate his 85th birthday), former President George H.W. Bush celebrates his 90th birthday with a parachute jump.
