FBI Uncovered Russian Bribery Plot Before Obama Approved Controversial Deal with Moscow

Putin in MoscowBefore the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.

So who is going to investigate this? Both Houses of congress are too busy looking for something that didn’t happen. So who is going to bring this to any of the Committees and if any one objects call them out how they are involved in the cover up and should be part of the investigation to see how they were involved.

The only “news” involved is that the FBI finally acknowledges, after years of speculation by numerous people and organizations investigating the events leading up to this horrible deal, that the FBI was aware of all this information for quite some time and that they elected to do nothing with it. Politics does have it perks. Especially if it involves high-level Democrats and your last name is either Obama or Clinton. Aside from choosing to bury the results of their own investigation, no doubt to shield both members of the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton from criminal prosecution, the FBI has done little but unfortunately confirm that their decisions as to whether to pursue criminal charges are based more on politics than the nature of the crimes uncovered. That should send the public a powerful message about how the FBI can be used for political purposes instead of simply adhering to the strict rule of law they are chartered to enforce. Unfortunately, I fear a large percentage of the public won’t be able to connect those dots anymore.

In any event, since this story casts both the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton in a negative light, for obvious reasons, I fully expect this story will get minimal, if any, coverage by the mainstream media and will be quickly buried. The mainstream media’s main job, after all, is to protect the Democrat Party and function as its propaganda arm in promoting their progressive agenda.

From listening to a number of Congressional GOP lawmakers over the last 24 hours, it is pretty clear most have no real interest beyond making a few passing comments for the TV cameras and moving on to other things. In any event, the GOP investigative committees have shown they are incapable or unwilling of getting any meaningful results where actual people are held accountable and face consequences. So there is no need for yet another ineffective and very expensive dog and pony show just to get the various committee members their TV face time.

What will be interesting is whether Jeff Sessions will decide to do anything with this now publicly available information about a Justice Department agency he now heads and actually file criminal charges against anyone. After all, this does involve actual bribery, collusion of government officials with a foreign government in exchange for money, money laundering, and several other violations of criminal law.

Very well said, PaulE, and if memory serves many months ago some of us have posted concerning Uranium One. So, what took them so long to decide to conduct Issa/Gody type hearings. D&P show exactly and in the wings to come to your favorite Fox only network. Whoppie.
