FBI Agents Spoke of ‘Pressure’ to Wrap Up Clinton Probe As Trump Surged to GOP Nomination

hillary-clinton-fbi-probeOne of the FBI agents who oversaw the Clinton email investigation spoke of “pressure” to wrap up the probe after it became clear that Donald Trump would win the 2016 Republican presidential primaries.

And in a text exchange on July 1, 2016, FBI lawyer Lisa Page suggested to her lover, counterintelligence official Peter Strzok, that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch had foreknowledge that the FBI planned to exonerate Clinton in the investigation over her use of a private email server.

That despite then-FBI Director James Comey saying on July 5, 2016 that the Justice Department had no idea what statement he planned to make that day.

The shocking texts were included in a batch of 384 pages of messages provided to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) by the Justice Department on Friday.

The release is in addition to a batch of Strzok-Page texts that were released by the agency last month. Those exchanges revealed that the two FBI officials, who worked on both the Clinton and Trump investigations, harbored deep anti-Trump sentiments.

In one of those previously disclosed exchanges, dated Aug. 15, 2016, Strzok spoke of an “insurance policy” that the FBI needed to take out in case Trump defeated Clinton in the election.

That text has generated outrage from Republicans who have questioned whether the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign was clouded by political bias. The new releases are likely to renew that outrage, as well as questions over why Strzok felt that there was new pressure to end the Clinton investigation just because of a Trump victory in the Republican primary.

Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of HSGAC, revealed details of some of the messages in a letter sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Saturday.

The Republican pointed to a May 4, 2016 text exchange in which Strzok referred to increased “pressure” to wrap up the Clinton email investigation after Donald Trump secured the GOP nomination.

Strzok and Page had the conversation after Texas Sen. Ted Cruz dropped out of the Republican race, a move which cleared Trump’s path to the GOP nomination.

Page wrote: “It’s going to be a Clinton Trump race. Unbelievable.”

“Now the pressure really starts to finish MYE…,” Strzok wrote.

“MYE” is a reference to “Mid Year Exam,” the FBI’s code name for the Clinton probe.

Strzok and Page also suggested in a text exchange on July 1, 2016 that Lynch, the Obama-appointed attorney general, knew when she recused herself from the Clinton investigation that charges would not be brought against the former secretary of state.

Lynch removed herself from the Clinton matter after it was revealed in late June 2016 that she met secretly on an airplane at the Phoenix airport with Bill Clinton. The Justice Department then leaked a story to The New York Times that Lynch would remove herself from the investigation and accept Comey’s recommendation on whether or not to prosecute the case.

Comey announced on July 5, 2016 that while Clinton’s use of a private email server to house classified government documents was “extremely careless,” it did not warrant prosecution. He also suggested that the Justice Department was in the dark about his decision.

“I have not coordinated or reviewed this statement in any way with the Department of Justice or any other part of the government. They do not know what I am about to say,” Comey announced.

But the Strzok-Page texts suggest otherwise.

“It’s a real profile in couragw [sic], since she knows no charges will be brought,” Page wrote, sarcastically referring to Lynch.

In his letter to Wray, Johnson also revealed that he was notified by the Justice Department that the FBI “failed to preserve” five months worth of text messages between Strzok and Page.

The gap includes a crucial period in the Russia investigation — from Dec. 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017, the day that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was tapped to lead the collusion probe.

Strzok was one of the top investigators on the Clinton probe.

He led several key interviews in that investigation, including with Clinton herself on July 2, 2016. He also interviewed Clinton aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills. As The Daily Caller has reported, both Mills and Abedin gave inconsistent statements about their knowledge of Clinton’s use of a server. Despite that, neither were charged with making false statements to the FBI.

Strzok is also the FBI official who is believed to have edited Comey’s exoneration statement of Clinton by removing language that suggested that she committed a crime. Comey’s initial statement said that Clinton was “grossly negligent” — a characterization that has legal ramifications. Strzok replaced that term with “extremely careless,” a characterization that has no legal significance.

Strzok’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday.

This group of elites in the DOJ reflects a cancer in the highest ranks of those governing us in Washington DC. I, and those like me in their eyes, am a peon of little worth or concern. My citizenship is meaningless unless I am of a social and political status approved by them. They are so far superior that NO laws bind them and so: Hillary’s unclassified, private server full of classified documents, is her due; the Clinton Foundation’s 5% charity but 95% Clinton slush fund made possible by Hillary’s Sect of State rulings, stands unchallenged; Hillary Clinton’s official lies about radical jihad attacks which resulted in Americans dying overseas go unpunished. The POTUS during this outrageous activity is lionized by his subjects as if he did nothing wrong. It is time to re-establish justice for all. It is time for retribution by an outraged citizenry, thru a new chief law enforcer, Trump, to be putting “elites” in jail, where we “deplorables” would be if we did what they have done and considered reserved for the anointed class.

Why are Strzok and Page still at the FBI? They should be fired and jailed. Anyone who takes the time to exchange 50,000 emails is obviously not doing their job.

You make a good point – and it’s not political at all, just plain good business. Why are we paying people to do nothing and, worse yet, trying to undermine our country….

President Trump has his work cut out for him if he is going to drain this corrupt swamp in Washington. Going back to the IRS (Lois Lerner),
(She pleaded the 5th and guess what – she retired!) the VA, the DOJ, FBI, not to exclude some members of Congress. I don’t understand how these corrupt people in the FBI are still in their jobs. Especially the two lovers with their anti-Trump text messages which many of them just happened to disappear. Oh, how can I forget crooked Hillary. AMERICA WAKEUP!

Clearly Clinton and the entire FASCIST Democratic Party needs to be held to account for their treasonous behavior and actions.
Why do these FBI employees still have a job, why are they not being prosecuted with all the Fascist Democrats?

Is anybody surprised about the sad state of affairs not only in the FBI, but in the DOJ and throughout the Federal agencies? Trump promised to drain the swamp and that put fear into every Federal department. The Clinton mafia and the progressive/democratic party has so many “bodies” (both literally and figurative) in the federal government agencies that the stench is killing our republic. Now let’s think about the situation. With such a large number of anti-Trump, pro-Clinton, and pro-progressive members in Washington DC and in decision making positions will justice ever be done? The odds are low. Add to this the liars running the media organizations the only way to rebuild our republic is a complete replacement of those who have overstayed their time in all elected and appointed positions. We need citizens in those positions not self-serving politicians and bureaucrats.

“..the FBI “failed to preserve” five months worth of text messages between Strzok and Page.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but does that not satisfy the definition of the term ‘collusion’? After all, someone had to agree to not preserve this data. And to do so for deceitful purposes is the only scenario that makes sense. Just like erasing over 30,000 emails from a private server used for illegal purposes.

So, if Mueller can investigate and jail people who at one time or another were involved with the Trump campaign, why does he not investigate the entire collusion mess? I am certain, with all of the facts that have come to light, that high crimes have been committed. And most, if not all, of the aforementioned left wing liberals are deserving of prison terms. Some may even deserve execution for treason.

How to cure this and take our gov’t back? investigate and PROSECUTE. Throw a few of these scumbags in jail and guess what, the swamp will clean itself up out of fear. Unfortunately, the Clinton’s are so corrupt and gave the feeling gov’t could do whatever it wanted with the use of absolute deniability that all these departments feel above the law. Bush didn’t clean things up and it only festered. Obama took it to a whole new level. Now Trump comes in and these crooks are trembling in their boots because he won’t play nice. I’m hearing some of the documents the house has will shake the American people to the bone. If so, let’s release it and prosecute as needed.

I find all your comments true. And, FedUp, your last statement: “…execution for treason.” the best. No one is too afraid of betraying America anymore. Let’s not let America fall! Get these treasonous people and jail or execute them. Then America will really have respect, love.

Mueller may end up arresting himself if he investigated what Clinton & associates did.

Both of the Clintons have carefully staffed government agencies to establish “plausible deniability” for their corruptions. Barak Obama is a co-conspirator and needs the same scrutiny applied to his administration. It may take years of investigation to find the full extent of the Clinton’s criminal activities. President Trump promised to “drain the swamp” and prosecuting the Clintons is an essential part of discovering all the players.

Brian B, I agree with you, however lets change the wording “It may take years” to this “should not take long” to find the Clintons and many of those above, below and around them guilty of several crimes related collusion to prevent Trump from winning the election. Then the Attorney General should mount a full court press to find every other crime they are guilty of and prosecute them to fullest extent possible.

FBI director Wray has threaten to resign if McCabe is fired. That is a good reason to fire Wray. The whole top level in the FBI needs to be fired. Until there a complete change there no one can ever trust the FBI agin. And if Sessions doesn’t do the same in the DOJ no one will trust him or the DOJ either.Heads have to roll and many need to go to prison,

Hannity is a conservative truth proponent. I like him for his tenacity even when the liberals attack him. I also like ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) because they are fighting for conservative truth and justice by beating the deep state and progressives in our court system. I support them by word of mouth and financial donations. I encourage others to do the same.

While there seems to have been no “collusion” by the Trump campaign with Russia (and I never thought there was), it has become very obvious there was a lot of collusion by some members of the DOJ and FBI with the Clinton campaign to try and smear Mr. Trump. After what we saw with the IRS in the 2012 election, it seems that some government agencies were infiltrated and politicized during the Obama administration if not before and then used as political weapons against political opponents. No thinking American can possible support using the DOJ or FBI or IRS as a political weapon! Ever! Transparency in a government of, by, and for the people DEMANDS full disclosure and accountability of this travesty with prosecutions of those responsible for any wrongdoing. No cover up. Air it all! Some have said this is bigger than Watergate. It is! Much bigger! It’s a conspiracy far bigger than covering up a two-bit burglary. It appears to an attempt by government officials in a trusted agency to sway the outcome of an election and then undermine our elected government! Our entire system of government and our Constitution are in jeopardy if any of this is buried. Air the dirty laundry and let us take steps to prevent it from happening again.
