Dems Feel the Bern as Sanders Wins Popular Vote in Iowa, Leads in New Hampshire as Democratic Nomination Could Go Socialist

bernie sanders unaffordableBelieve it or not, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) may be the frontrunner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination after ending essentially in a tie with Pete Buttigieg in Iowa and leading polls in New Hampshire, making it more likely that the self-avowed socialist will be the nominee to take on President Donald Trump in November.

Former Vice President Joe Biden was a distant fourth place behind Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and should he lose in New Hampshire next week, the odds will be stacked against him.

That’s because more likely than not, in the modern primary system for selecting party nominees, the candidate who wins either Iowa or New Hampshire is usually the candidate. In more than three-quarters of the years where no incumbent Democrat was running for president — 1976, 1984, 1988, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2016 — the nominee had won either Iowa or New Hampshire.

There are two notable exceptions. Bill Clinton managed to secure the nomination in 1992 without winning either Iowa or New Hampshire, and so did George McGovern back in 1972.

Still, the advantage shifts to Sanders in this early going, making socialized single-payer medicine, universal basic income and the Green New Deal key issues on the front burner this election year on the Democratic side.

The appeal of Sanders in the general election is that he stands a chance of winning back the union households that in part helped put Trump over the top in the Electoral College in 2016 in the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

But unlike in 2016, when it was thought that Sanders and Trump shared views on trade — both ran against North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) — it was Sanders who ended voting to keep NAFTA when he voted against the now-adopted U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). If Sanders’ view had prevailed, the U.S. would still be in NAFTA, giving the Trump campaign an easy talking point.

Sanders’ other policies like the Green New Deal put working class Americans directly in the crosshairs who depend on the manufacturing and energy sectors for jobs in the modern, carbon-emitting industrial economy to make ends meet and feed their families.

If Sanders had his way, under the Green New Deal, industrial production would be dramatically curtailed not just here but globally, costing millions of blue-collar jobs and wrecking the economy.

In contrast, Venezuela will be highlighted as a model of failed socialism in the modern world.

Sanders’ age is deceptive, as his frontrunner status pits older generations against the new, radical Democratic base that seeks to disrupt and supplant the old order. Make no mistake, Sanders represents the socialist future of the Democratic Party. He’s ahead of the curve.

In the early 1900s, socialism and communism prevailed when economic conditions were extremely weak in Europe particularly after World War I.

In comparison, with the Trump economy doing so well, with a 50-year low in unemployment and more Americans working than ever and providing for themselves — a blue-collar Renaissance — Sanders’ socialism will appear out of place, even as it energizes younger Democratic voters during the primaries. But that is not a recipe for a majority, at least now.

In 2020, it becomes a choice election between work on one hand with the lowest peacetime unemployment in modern history, and welfare on the other.

Today, in the U.S., the economy arguably has never been better, making radical transformation a hard sell to working Americans looking to make a safe bet in 2020, and Sanders will be hard-pressed to win over those independents and Democrats who voted for Trump in 2016.

Meaning, in November, it could be Democrats who end up feeling the Bern as President Trump is easily reelected. Stay tuned.

Any one who believes Bernie’s socialism garbage needs a check up from the neck up and do real research on wht socialism truly is. I lived under socialism and there is NOT ONE FREEBIE but a lot of poverty and little chance of getting ahead as you are own by those families/leaders who re wealthy and use you to get wealthier. I worked in the social country and altho what seemed a good wage I had to work two jobs and I had to have a permit for residence in the country and another permit to have a job and they kept their eyes on me night and day to come to my apartment and work. Those permits WERE expensive too. Poverty, begging, illnesses are what most suffer but also too afraid or lazy to fight against being literally slaves. Bernie has been a Soviet Communist since the Soviet Union of Russia and thinks that is a good way to run America’s Republic of freedom and rights. As a typical democrat he lies like a carpet on the floor, is a millionaire and known for being cheap in spending that money but with such poor education when taken over by the DNC back in the 1960’s, so many today in those 6+ decades truly were cheated of a real education and learned nothing of value and it is even gotten worse today teaching more hate of this Republic, learning stuff about sex, abortion, and nothing about this fantastic country. My spouse lived and finally able to leave communism and that is what the democrats are pushing today, but God heard our prayer and we got the best President ever since Geo. Washington, but hate is still running rampant so continue to pray to God to save our country, president, and us because if not you will not like the consequences of either being lazy, not being informed by researching our past, or think socialism and freebies are great (if no one works, where does the money come from – it doesn’t!) We have gotten a great deal of common sense with AMAC,so pay attention and work to vote for Trump and your future which should not be a nasty one but a far better one we have been given by our Founders/Fathers.

I can’t believe that the older Democrats will vote for a communist as they lived through the time when communists were killing/slaughtering the people of the countries they took over…most young people don’t have that knowledge thanks to our education system and their failure to teach history… I believe most just won’t vote

Unless their is a outpouring of prayer in Our once Great country I’m not sure God will continue to Bless Us as He has in the past! God needs to be brought back into Our daily lives to where ” We the people ” show Our Loving God we will repent of Our sins and allow Him to again direct Our future according to His will not ours! Amen

I am 73 years old and a Vietnam Veteran. That makes me a baby boomer. When I was growing up schools still taught American history and patriotism. My parents grew up in the Depression and had a strong work ethic they passed along to plus a strong Christian faith. My Dad always stressed to me their is no such thing as a free lunch. He always said I would end up paying more than it was worth for it. Too bad the young people of today haven’t been taught that.0. They simply want what their parents worked for for years, or more. These socialists scare me. I remember the oath I took when I entered the US Army, and it is one I feel bound to today. Part of it was that I would defend the United States from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Are we headed for another Civil War? I am still an expert shot even at my age and know what war really is like. IT’S HELL!

With our public school system being infiltrated by the left, is it any wonder that the younger generation thinks socialism and its promise of a labor free life is a good way to go? They are not being taught what misery socialism/ communism has brought to the countries that have been under its control. President Trump please return our school system back to true learning, not houses of propaganda for the power hungry left.

I find it interesting that the democrat party who think Russia is the devil, is now rabidly supporting a communist who vacationed in Russia!

Why should New Hampshire and Iowa, with its arcane caucus system, have so much influence on who becomes the nominee of either major party? Neither of these states is truly representative of the USA as a whole. I think we should do it nationally just like we do locally, i.e. on a certain day we hold a primary in every state, one for Democrats and another for Republicans with no crossover voting allowed. That way no candidate has the opportunity to taint the elections in the other states.

Does it surprise any of you that the so called hippies from the 60s who didn’t want to be controlled by the “man “ now want the government to control every aspect of their life. Baffles my mind. And Bernie who got kicked out of a commune for being lazy still wants someone else to pay for the lazy ones.True socialism is where everyone has the same amount of money is he and the rest of the politicians promoting socialism going to be satisfied with little or nothing? I don’t think so. In other words live like I tell you to live while I Bernie Sanders live high off the hog because I’m smarter and deserve more.

Would the “Green New Deal” wreck the economy? It will certainly change it. And it must change from the cancerous growth to repairing, recycling and conservation. That “high unemployment” is a result of low-paying service jobs not actual production. It is both parents working, full-time plus part-time just to pay the bills, and latch-key kids growing up supervised by television and smart phones.
We are destroying our environment, making it increasingly unliveable and ensuring increasing social turbulence and massive cultural instability.
It is time to change direction lest we march to extinction.

Of course, this degenerate likes socialism, for him, it works, which is more than he ever did. What does this scoundrel do for a living?
He is a loathsome politician who collects his “salary” from the taxpayers( like all politicians do), in essence, he is on welfare. The people who elected this Jackass are mentally deficient.
America adopted Marxist Socialism when it elected Franklin Roosevelt in 1932 and it has been here ever since.

The reality of the matter is the whole “bad app” and “phone problems” reported by the Democrats in Iowa is total fiction. The reality is as the Democrats saw the caucus data flowing into Party HQ, they saw Bernie was the runaway favorite. The Party’s leadership choice of Biden was a distant fourth. Panic ensued as they realized the results reflected exactly what the Party has been pushing for for decades. An overt Marxist won. So once again they had Robby Mook, the originator of the Russian collusion hoax, concoct a BS story about how both the vote counting app failed and also magically all phone service failed (only occurring on the Democrat side if you believe in the tooth fairy). The media once again went with the BS narrative coming from the Democrat Party and the result is a dribbling out of now fully doctored data that shows Mayor Pete holds the lead over Bernie with senile, old Uncle Joe still coming in fourth.

The Democrat Party has been pushing socialism for decades in our public schools. So now we have two full generation of Democrat voters who have been brainwashed to want socialism. Duh! Back in 2016 Bernie would have been the Democrat nominee, if the DNC hadn’t made a deal up front with Hilary in exchange for cash to bail out the broke DNC. Now the Democrat voters are once again more enthusiastic about Bernie than any of the other warm bodies still in the race. This time around the DNC now looks to be relying on Bloomberg’s billions to flood the airways with enough idiotic commercials to sway enough Democrat voters to pick anyone but Bernie. Can’t wait to see how the DNC rigs the vote against Bernie in NH. They can only use the “bad app” story once. Yeah, this is all like watching a rerun of a bad movie, but there isn’t anything good about the Democrat Party.

Hi PaulE, somebody needs to ask Pelosi this on National TV: “Nancy, why is it that dead people and illegals ALWAYS VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS?”

She would just laugh and walk away. She doesn’t give a sh^t about the people of California. She is just in it for the power. Problem for Nancy is AOC is the one really calling the shots. Pelosi will lose her position the next time the Dems in the House vote. Then she will just retire to her vineyard with her millions.

Let’s hope that Crazy Bernie remains nothing more than a fleeting footnote in history. Does any sane person really believe that Crazy Bernie could do anything right if he became president? Of course not! He should adopt the motto, “We will snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory!” If anyone truly wants to know what to do, then just plan on doing the exact opposite of what Bernie proposes to do with regard to every issue upon which he prates. We cannot afford as a nation to have this dystopian wingnut idiot be in charge of anything — ever!
But, probably not to worry — Bloombutt will come to the rescue and probably buy the nomination. After all, Bloombutt is in the most enviable position — he has the wherewithal to truly “pay to play” in the Democratic Party’s sandbox (er, I mean asylum).
Does anyone realize that Piglosi (as Squeaker of the Haus) is third in line behind Trump and Pence to become president if both Trump and Pence were to pass away at the same time? Excuse me, I just barfed.

There you go again, Ed, giving me cause to lose sleep.
Surely, Bernie and his collectivist, redistributive, dystopian policies are destined for the trash heap of history.
Perhaps at 80 I am approaching the door step to senility or am experiencing early onset mad cow disease, but it should be intuitive to ANYONE who is vertical and able to fog a mirror that there simply is no free lunch.

If Bernie wins there will be a clear choice between good and evil. While Bernie will stand for Socialism; President Trump will stand for America.
