The Delegate Times- April/May 2014

Dear AMAC Delegate,

The AMAC Member Meeting Town Halls are in full swing.  Andy Mangione is actively inviting Congressman in DC to schedule Town Halls this summer.  The meetings are a great way to give constituents direct access to their Congressman.  Please read the recaps of the past two months Town Halls in this newsletter.  We will have soon have a Town Hall Planning Guide distributed to all delegates to help with the planning.

On Wednesday, April 16, nearly over 30 AMAC members who are constituents of Pennsylvania’s Third Congressional District attended an exclusive Town Hall meeting with their Congressman, Representative Mike Kelly, at the PENN Extension Center in Mercer, Pennsylvania and organized by AMAC Delegate Tom McFate.

The comments and questions were free flowing and Congressman Kelly accommodated the attendees with two hours of unfettered access as he related his experiences on Capitol Hill.  Questions ranged from the negative effects of ObamaCare to the forthcoming mid-term election in November.

Representative Kelly related how pleased he was with the turnout, and commented that he would have had to make approximately 160 personal home visits in order to speak with as many people as those who attended this AMAC member-only meeting.

Plans are already underway for another AMAC member-only meeting with Congressman Kelly to be held later this summer.

The meeting was arranged by AMAC Delegate Evelyn Dodd and was held in the New Port Richey City Council Chamber in New Port Richey, FL.  Congressman Bilirakis fielded questions from AMAC members who had numerous concerns about healthcare, including Medicare, and the economy among other issues.

Representative Bilirakis complimented AMAC members for their knowledge of the issues and acknowledged how pleasant the tone was for the meeting.  He is eager to schedule another AMAC member-only meeting later this year in the 12th District.

The two hour question and answer session touched on health care, ObamaCare and the effects on Medicare, reckless spending and the $17 trillion national debt, solvency of Social Security, and Veterans issues.  It was the topic and AMAC member, Harry Ayres, which inspired Andy Mangione to write “One Marine’s Tears”. The AMAC members in attendance left the meeting feeling better about the future of America and vowing to help fight to take it back.
