Dear Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader-Elect McConnell,

On behalf of the 1.2 million members of AMAC, the Association of Mature American Citizens, I am writing to relay our concerns regarding recent executive action taken by the President on immigration.

Like many Americans, AMAC believes that President Obama overstepped his constitutional authority when he issued an executive order shielding roughly 5 million undocumented aliens from deportation. AMAC recognizes that Congress is the proper governing body to address these critical concerns.

Thus, AMAC strongly urges Republicans in the House and Senate to provide the American people with a solution.  The President has already opened the back door for millions of illegal aliens to remain in our country; now, it is time for Republicans in Congress to uphold their constitutional duty to protect American citizens by working together to close the front door.

Please produce a simple, strong bill to build and monitor a fence across the entire southern border. When asked what actions should be taken on immigration, 97% of AMAC members said that this is what we need to do!

Mature Americans and seniors have a considerable stake in immigration reform.  In some cases, money that should be going to fund programs for seniors is being diverted to pay for programs for illegal immigrants.  For example, although ObamaCare does not permit Medicaid to cover illegal immigrants, we know that approximately 2 billion dollars of emergency room costs are incurred by illegal immigrants, while community health clinics and transportation services for illegal immigrants add to the expenses at the state and county level.

These local funds could go to cover other important programs for seniors, such as nursing home care or home health care.  All these costs add to the property tax burden that seniors, who are living on fixed incomes, must bear.

AMAC encourages you to consider the many advantages of leading the country forward on this important issue.

Therefore, AMAC implores Congress to act to strengthen the border first and foremost and to pass legislation that will enable our immigration system to reward hardworking, law-abiding immigrants who want to pursue the American Dream.

Sincerely,

Dan Weber
President and Founder of AMAC

If the Speaker replies back to you, I’m sure all of us would like to see his response on the matter. Thank you.

This is a good letter, but I feel we need to go further. Step one is to seal our borders and recreate a Sovereign Nation. Step 2 would be to insure the illegal aliens that are here now be returned to their home countries. It costs us more to keep them here then it would to return them all as the family they want to be. Step 3 would be to make sure they do not get any welfare or medical coverage. This may sound harsh but I am against bankrupting our country and our grandchildren even before they start… Read more »
