Christian Persecution on the Rise Around the World, says AMAC

war-religion-church‘Western countries, including the U.S., need to view the problem as a matter of foreign policy’

WASHINGTON, DC, May 1 – The persecution of Christians is not limited to the middle east.  A new report by the human rights group, China Aid, shows that a tidal wave of brutal religious oppression is sweeping across Communist China.  Its 2014 Annual Report of Religious and Human Rights Persecution in China issued just days ago revealed that there was a 300% increase in the cases of religious persecution last year.

“Although the Chinese persecutors might be described as tame compared to the atrocities of the jihadists or so-called ‘holy warriors’ in Arabia and Africa, the China Aid report suggests that Christians have become a target of choice on a global scale,” according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.

The statistics confirm that notion.  David Curry, president of Open Doors, which keeps track of nations based on the severity of persecution, has reported that the targeting of Christians worldwide reached historic levels in 2014 and that this year things may get even worse.  Open Doors estimates that there are some 100 million Christians around the world who are in fear of their lives just because they believe in Christ.

“In regions where Christians are being persecuted as central targets, the trends and issues we track are expanding,” Curry said.

It is interesting to note that North Korea tops the list of the world’s worst oppressors, but it is the massacres perpetrated by extremist Islamic terrorists that are cause for the greatest concern, Weber noted.  “The abuses in China and North Korea are alarming but in some Middle Eastern countries, there are few, if any, Christians left.  Radical Muslims with distorted views of their mission in life have used extraordinarily cruel and vicious means to wipe out whole Christian communities.  They’ve beheaded men, women and children in great numbers.  Women are raped and sold off as sex slaves.”

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria [ISIS] and the terror group, Al-Shabaab, have openly stated their intent to rid the lands they seek to control of Christians either by murdering them or forcing them to renounce their faith.  They’ve even reached out to Europe using terror and the threat of terror to create havoc in Paris, Rome and elsewhere in the Christian world.

Individuals on both the right and the left have expressed concern.  The conservative evangelist Reverend Franklin Graham said he is concerned about the rapid spread of the anti-Christian movement and what could happen in the United States.  He criticized the “conspicuous” silence of our political leaders

Earlier this month 12 Christian refugees from Libya were thrown overboard and drowned by Muslim extremists.  Liberal columnist Kirsten Powers wrote about it in her column in USA Today.  She, too, was critical, singling out President Obama for remaining “mute” on the incident.  At a joint news conference after a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Powers noted that Mr. Obama “failed to interject any sense of outrage or even tepid concern for the targeting of Christians for their faith.  If a Christian mob on a ship bound for Italy threw 12 Muslims to their death for praying to Allah, does anyone think the president would have been so disinterested?  When three North Carolina Muslims were gunned down by a virulent atheist, Obama rightly spoke out against the horrifying killings.  But he just can’t seem to find any passion for the mass persecution of Middle Eastern Christians or the eradication of Christianity from its birthplace.”

Weber concluded that while the rise of Christian persecution is gaining greater attention, there is a need for western countries, including the U.S., to view the problem as a matter of foreign policy.  “We need a serious solution to a grim problem.  We need to encourage our leadership to take appropriate action to preserve and protect religious freedom at home and abroad.  The Founding Fathers considered the right to worship enough of a national security issue to make it a key part of the first amendment in our Constitution.  We need, as a nation, to take it seriously enough to make it a priority of our foreign policy.”

Also keep in mind that, as I read through, I see a strong, “we are all Christians” theme. Many AMAC members (and growing) are Jews who are true to the commandments. This naturally leads us toward the right. It is from these values that Christianity came forth. Let’s remember that we are allies.

Let’s not forget the brutal murders of Jews around the world and especially in their Holy Land. Let’s also note well that the President – Mr. Obama has never once spoken out about this horror either.

I don’t usually get into the mood of discontentment with my views. But reading the comments on religious zealots makes me wonder if God really is watching us and doing nothing to try and stop the destruction of our world. Really does everyone believe he will stop the hate mongers or the senselessness of killings, war, and atrocities committed by mankind against each other. We have been praying for Centuries for a better world and waiting for his(God’s) action to stop the ROT that is the world today. My solution to the problem Bring on the Arsenals of Nuclear Weapons… Read more »

Jesus is the answer to all our problems today. Pray America, Pray for your Country, Pray for the world. Remember he is coming soon. And he will right all wrongs. His will be done.

I hope and pray Hillary does not become our next president. People need to understand that if she wins, you will not see religious liberty make a come back in this country. She is just as bad as President Obama, in that she wants to wipe out God entirely from our country. If she does decide for you, that you can practice a religion, it will only be from a religion that SHE approves of, where you MUST love abortion, gay marriage etc.. or you WILL be persecuted by the government. It’s sad to say but, the Democratic party has… Read more »

The time of Jesus return is getting close and Satan is very busy. I think the persecution will increase. Christians in America need to decide now where they will stand, because it’s already showing up. That Obama hasn’t spoken out against the atricities isn’t surprising. I think he has shown his true colors one too many times for a thinking person to be surprised.
As Christians, we must pray for those under severe persecution. We, too, must pray for the 2016 election – that Godly people will be elected.

Larry, that’s a very good analogy of what is happening in our Nation. I am so thankful for AMAC. It’s such a good alternative to AARP, which I have not liked since the first magazine I received. Their agenda is very clear and people are buying into it. Some don’t even know where AARP stands. I quit a very good insurance program when it was turned over to AARP and went to another that does not include AARP. I also turn off ads on TV that favor AARP.
Well, that’s my “two cents” worth, anyway.

You should ask yourself; “How am I surprised”? For years Christians have been persecuting Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans and any other form of worship or person that does not fit in to the definition of “Christian values”. I think the Muslims especially have had enough of Christian values. Just look at how many people were slaughtered in the name of Christianity during the crusades. Not a good representation of values in my opinion. Look how Christians have treated other Christians and you might start seeing the bigger picture. How many people have suffered and died in the name of Christianity? Maybe… Read more »

The context is a bit different, but I see many similarities between Muslim immigration into our country to the story of the Trojan Horse:

1. Think of the Greeks as the Muslims of today (ruthless invaders who to plan to conquer, destroy and kill)

2. Think of Troy as the USA of today (naive and foolish city primed to be overtaken by false offering of peace)

3. Think of the Horse as “Immigration” of today (an attractive and noble sounding prize that will bring ruin)

It is more apparent everyday right here in the USA and for a much longer time in Europe that the Secular Progressive Left is using the atrocities of the Middle East as an “excuse” to turn up the anti-Christian rhetoric along with their long standing Anti-Semitism and making it “acceptable” in Big Media and in products from Hollywood. That camel’s nose is under our tent and moving in with greater speed than I would have suspected. When the Franklin Graham proposition about muslim immigration is shared more widely, watch for the backlash storm that will occur from the Left.

I agree, immigration is out of control and it has been since the days of Ted Kennedy.Every year the problem escalates and congress “fiddles and diddles” as Johnny Most used to say. Obama’s administration is another in a long list of affronts perpetrated on our country by liberals. I fear we are becoming ” A Nation Of Sheep”.
