Biden’s Ill-Considered Gun-Control Gambit

gunAddressing the abominable news from Boulder, Colo., on Monday, President Biden acknowledged that he was “still waiting for more information regarding the shooter.” And then, without pausing for breath, he said it: “I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour,” Biden affirmed, “to take commonsense steps that will save the lives in the future and to urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act.”

With respect, Mr. President, you do.

In front of the cameras, Biden called upon the Senate to pass “universal background checks.” But Colorado, in which these killings took place, already has such a system — and, besides, the shooter bought his gun from a store, not privately, passing a background check in the process. Responding to Biden’s demand, Senator Marco Rubio was justifiably confused. “I just don’t understand why everybody keeps focusing on that,” Rubio said. “It wouldn’t have prevented any of these shootings.”

The president’s other ideas were just as ill-considered. As he confirmed once again, Biden hopes to prohibit the sale of certain cosmetically displeasing rifles and to ban magazines that are capable of holding more than ten rounds. But, as one of the architects of the now-expired 1994 “assault-weapons ban,” he should know better than that. Not only are so-called “assault weapons” used so infrequently in crimes that the FBI does not even keep statistics — rifles of all types, recall, are used less frequently as murder weapons than are hammers, fists, or knives — but the evidence that prohibiting them does anything of consequence is non-existent.

When, in 2004, the “assault-weapons” ban was up for renewal, a report issued by the Department of Justice submitted that “should it be renewed, the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.” Congress let it lapse, and, since then, the evidence has become no stronger. In their 2014 work, The Gun Debate: What Everyone Needs to Know, Stanford University’s Philip J. Cook and Kristin A. Goss concluded that “there is no compelling evidence that [the ban] saved lives,” while, in a research review that was updated in April of 2020, the RAND Corporation found the evidence that “assault-weapons” bans reduce homicides in general and mass shootings in particular to be “inconclusive.” The AR-15 is the most commonly owned rifle in the United States, and, as such, is almost certainly protected under the Supreme Court’s “in common use” standard. In Congress and in the courts, “inconclusive” ain’t gonna cut it.

“This is not a partisan issue,” President Biden said on Monday, “it’s an American issue.” And, indeed, it is. And yet Biden’s rhetoric suggests that he believes this dispute is between a set of people that has all the right answers and a set that simply refuses to accept that they’re wrong — a conviction that could not be further from the truth. Only one in four Americans believes that “stricter gun control” would “help a lot” to prevent gun violence, while more than half believe that universal background checks would make either a “small difference” or “no difference at all.” Over time, gun-control advocates such as Biden have simply tuned out this fact, to the point at which they are now unable to conceive of their critics as anything other than corrupt, bloodthirsty wreckers. Even now, with the National Rifle Association as weak as it has been in decades, gun-controllers assume that Congress’s continued hesitance must be the result of something nefarious. It’s not. Americans just aren’t sold on the agenda.

And why would they be, given that that agenda is built atop the pretense that there is an easy answer to an appalling and vexatious problem — the Constitution be damned. Public polling shows that even the most popular gun-control ideas tend to become disfavored once the debate shifts from the abstract to the particulars, and it is the particulars that matter. There are no panaceas, only hard work. We must, of course, try to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them. We must, of course, do what we can to address mental illness. We must, of course, invest in policing. But we should not seek symbolic victories at the expense of the Bill of Rights, by banning the most popular rifle in America, overriding the background-check systems of 37 states, and pretending that the Second Amendment doesn’t exist.

As an afterthought: If you are really serious about “taking our country back”, you need to become active. There is a program that teaches us to be not only good citizens but great citizens. It takes a little time: 16 hours over 8 weeks. I am on week 3 but I can’t get enough. Go to your browser and look for the Patriot Academy– Biblical Citizenship. This class is absolutely wonderful and we need to learn to fight back against this tyranny. If we don’t fight back now– I’m afraid it is over.

Everyone needs to focus on the Biden family. In Delaware, Hunter Biden has committed many crimes including gun crimes. He has purchased a handgun illegally because he lied on the affidavit when he denied his drug use and denied he was dishonorably discharged from the armed services (because of his drug use). The “Delaware State Attorney General” has known of his laptop debacle and the illegal purchase of a handgun for almost 2 years. The dealer that sold Hunter was approached by the FBI regarding the purchase, but refused to release the information because he was afraid of a “cover up”. The justice system needs to be made to prosecute everyone that commits a crime not just some of us. By the way I haven’t heard anything from our US Attorney General Merrick regarding the Biden family corruption with China and Russia. Do you think it’s going to disappear? I’ll bet the laptop, gun, and everything else associated with the “Gift that Keeps on Giving” Hunter will just be taken by aliens to a planet far far away. Good luck on Justice or is that Just US? If we all send emails to the US Attorney General and the Attorney General of Delaware maybe something will get accomplished. I have sent several emails without response– going to the papers next!

This is just the latest example of how the democrats posture for low information voters. They don’t care about the truth or validity they just try to put out propaganda to impress low information voters. They use any “factor” that even marginally pertains to the topic at hand. Slow Joe (remember it’s his birthday Thursday – April 1st) is trying to make the Georgia ID laws sound like voter suppression. Yeah, right, they just want anybody or anything to be able to vote without ID. Heck, they’d like it if pets could vote.

Just like every thing he’s done, Ill-considered is an understatement. It’s not about gun control, it’s about total control! They have never had an idea how to disarm criminals, only law abiding citizens! Love your country, never trust your government!

Just another “crisis” for the socialists to address. They just won’t give up. We must give them credit for being masters of the blame game.

There are only two forms of gun control that’s real. #1 The Second Amendment. #2 Hitting exactly where you aim your gun. Everything else goes against the second amendment.

Gun control? Good luck. Seems like a good answer to some of these terrible happenings is to open the mental health hospitals. They were all closed years back……dumb move.
It’s very easy to get a gun these days. Don’t even have to go to a store to get one.
The Devils Disciples better not destroy the 2nd amendment.

This quote was taken from, “Understanding The Times”, by David A. Noebel. The quote itself was by Timothy J. Madigan, “Humanism and the Need for a Global Consciousness,” The Humanist, March/April, 1086, pp. 17-18.

Humanism holds that the planet Earth must be considered a single ecosystem, which is to say it is no longer feasible to arbitrarily divide it into separate states and hope that each one can satisfactorily manage itself. . . . Quite simply, national borders can no longer be considered sacrosanct when manipulation of the environment can easily lead to worldwide devastation.”

————

The Constitution, ignored by his mentor, Barack,
Bypass the Bill of Rights, with deceptive talk.

First, eliminate the National border,
Replace it with a Communistic world order!

We should have been long engaged in this fight,
Scientific atheism did not happen over night!

The secular humanist wants a state democratic,
Disorder becomes even more erratic.

Our Founders chose the Republican state,
Democracy or anarchy they did hate.

May we gather around and pay attention,
And listen to Henry, at the Convention.

The Constitution according to it’s letter,
Could have been made even better.

The Anti-federalists, to our delight,
Gave us the momentous, Bill of Rights!

Men like, Henry, saw a future tyranny,
Too much Federal power gasped, “eerie”!

Not only for America, did they bleed,
They were very prophetic, indeed.

These two groups were brilliant together,
Up to now surviving the foul weather.

Fearing both Congress and the Executive,
Too much power did the Federalists give.

Witnessing too much power and trauma,
From both F. D. R. and Obama.

Also, thankful for the Anti-federalist,
Or today’s states would be almost powerless.

For our longstanding, beloved Constitution to endure,
We must battle the Secular Humanists more and more!

The Communist atheist, globalist plot,
Return to the Bible or continue to rot.

”spread the atheistic worldview, the atheistic behavior pattern, the atheistic way of understanding life, understanding ethics, and so on. Beginning in school, we work to bring up all the people in the atheistic world view.”

Obviously, the first quote was in 1986 and not 1086. ????

Hate to tell those idiots, but we already do background checks with the FBI. Just like congress the fbi should enforce laws already on the books. Same thing with illegal aliens, why are they called illegal aliens? Because there are laws in place that means illegal is against the law (almost had a biden moment and forgot). Border patrol and ICE and Customs do their jobs according to the laws laid down by congress, time for congress to either change the law or enforce it. Time to $hit or get off the pot. We can’t go on like this for 4 years, we don’t have enough money saved up to cover what these idiots spend, let alone they don’t even enforce the laws they passed. Sorry, just sayin’

Why don’t we ban doctors? Statistically, doctors are 9000 (nine thousand) times more likely to cause death than private gun owners. There are 700,000 doctors in USA and 80,000,000 (80 million) gun owners. Doctors, through malpractice, kill 120,000 people per year – look it up – Why are we even listening to Biden? Ban Biden.

Joe Biden is a pure career political lackey and puppet for the real operatives in the back room. He doesn’t even realize, or care, what he is doing half the time. Soros, Obama and the globalist cartel inside the gates are calling the shots, not Biden or Harris. Once Biden’s usefulness as a front man and lackey expires, he will be gently pushed aside and he already knows it. He just wanted to check being President off his bucket list, as a life long Congressional parasite and liar…….

The President is required by the Constitution to take an Oath of Office. Article 2, Section 1, of the US Constitution prescribes the Oath. It says, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
The fourth federal law, 18 U.S.C. 1918 provides penalties for violation of oath of office described in 5 U.S.C. 7311 which include: (1) removal from office and; (2) confinement or a fine. The definition of “advocate” is further specified in Executive Order 10450 which for the purposes of enforcement supplements 5 U.S.C.
Since the House (Nancy’s pig parlor) was so quick to attempt impeachment of the real President, why aren’t Republicans clamoring to censure Biden for his heavy-handed Executive Orders and “One-man Rule” of our country?

We’re toast. Our super weak Republicans won’t stand up for us, the people. The weak Republicans care more about their swimming pools, multiple vacation homes, vacations, and personal luxury. We could never win a world war now, we have the technology but more importantly, we do not have the will power. The Comunist Democrats are determined to eliminate personal protections, western thought, Christianity, and freedom. We’ve got a huge problem. Look what they did to Trump.

It’s unfortunate that the Gun is used to kill and in every case ‘it is the Guns fault’. Yet, when a Car kills someone (now) it is the Driver’s fault.
Where is the logic??

President Biden has way too many irons in the fire. He needs to focus on important issues & leave other things alone for this year. How many years has this gun control been coming up to both Republican & Democrat presidents & it is still only talked about.

Biden is no president. I despised biden 30 years ago because I was paying attention. Due to the negligence and weakness of us, the American people, he’s now our “president”. We have all succumed to the promise of a bowl of rotten oatmeal in exchange for “security”. “A person whom exchanges liberty for security deserves neither”. BTW, we’re not going to be safer by banning guns, criminals will allways get guns to prey on us – the law abiding citizens. Nice going Democrats.
