What I am about to write below may be a bitter pill to swallow but I think it is necessary to understand the situation as it is rather than as we want it to be. I hope you will read the post in its entirety and not rush in response.

Biden is not a good President but he has support from the Democrats and many Independents still. He won the 2020 election because he was not Trump and Trump made a lot of mistakes during his one term presidency. This is the reality like it or not. I don’t necessarily like it but the Right has itself to blame to a large degree. Trump and the Republicans needed to be good, humble, and compassionate leaders for all Americans. Otherwise, the Right is destined to lose as was evident in 2020. Certainly, Republicans can make some gains this year because of the mistakes the Democrats made but you cannot rely only on that. That is not a strategy. The Right needs to have a strategic vision for the country for many years to come. This is especially important given the fact that the Media is still in the Left’s pocket.

So the first step towards sanity is to not support Trump in a bid to run in 2024. Trump is an impulsive man and showed himself to be a bad leader many times during his Presidency and especially after losing the election. Also, as President Biden noted, Trump is a defeated former President. That is already a part of his legacy – whether he conceded or not or whether we like it or not. The fact is, Biden is the President and Trump is not. It will be better for the Republicans if Trump remains in the shadows. I think it’s quite ok if Trump helps the Republican party from the shadows by promoting his favorite Candidates into the House and the Senate but it’s best if he stays out.

For the 2024 election cycle we need somebody who is somewhat like Trump but fundamentally a lot more rational a leader. I think Ron DeSantis is one such candidate. A calm, rational, charismatic, and patriotic man. A man who will promote many of the good policies but without much noise and controversy. DeSantis has humility, experience, education, and good communication skills that Trump never had and never will.

Lastly, on a personal note. I am a right-leaning independent and I am rooting for the Republicans to win. I voted Red across the board in 2020. In some ways, I am ashamed that I voted for Trump but it is what it is. I certainly will not vote for him in 2024. Moreover, I think it is highly likely that I will vote for the Democrat nominee if Trump is on the ballot in 2024. And I live in a swing state. I know that Trump is very popular among registered Republicans to an almost cult like devotion but I hope that the Republicans are smart enough to see beyond Trump if they want to win. This is my stance. Whether you agree with me or not, I wish you all well. Good night.

I would mention a couple things in Trump’s defense. He was tough on trade negotiations and backed our energy independence. He supported our military and our police. His policies were business friendly, we had good economic times during his administration. He put America FIRST! And most of all, he exposed the Left as the lying, putrid, under handed, America-hating Marxist/Socialists that they are. Their vitriol for him tells it all.

I am in agreement with you that he did a lot of good things. He had some good ideas. However, his execution was not great. He would constantly get in fights with his own party and the people he hired. He made a lot of laughable statements. He displayed an overall poor leadership skills especially during the Covid times and after losing the election.

Like I said, I voted for him, ignoring all his flaws because I though that it was more or less ok. However, especially after Jan 6 event, there is absolutely no possibility that I will ever vote for him. I will vote (D) just not to see him in the office again. But I fully and happily support somebody who is more mild mannered like DeSantis. I think the Republican party must move away from Trump. Trump is sinking the Republican party. I know he energized many to move to the right and I think he can still do rallies and support some folks but it’s best if he is out of the picture in the national election. Without independents, Republicans do not have a chance. Peace.

You have to remember that Trump like Reagan, did not have the full support of their party because they were NOT ONE OF THE BOYS. Both Presidents did their best despite the lack of support they received from the party.

So you’ll vote D if Trump is the candidate? You would be voting against Trump regardless of the consequences. See what voting against someone has caused? That’s what we’re living with now – an attempt at dictatorship and success in some ways in that regard. Think twice.

Trump has the support of the American people. He is honest and straight forward. He wants to clean up congress.
Only an outsider could do that.
There are thousands of people who attend his rallies.

I am certainly no liberal. Maybe you could say that I am a liberal conservative but I am no woke lefty for sure. I am an independent who leans to the right. I already outlined that I would support somebody sane like DeSantis but would oppose Trump. I did not vote in 2016, voted for Trump in 2020 and the Republicans all over (alas, all of them lost). But if Trump is the nominee in 2024, I will vote Biden or whoever the Democrat nominee is or stay home. Maybe the only way I may vote for Trump in 24 is if his opponent is Hilary Clinton. The only person in politics I dislike more than Trump now is her, lol. And I am not the only one who thinks this way. Most of my friends are moderates who sometimes vote D, sometimes R. They can get behind a sensible Republican who can lead. But most of us already strongly dislike Trump. And we live in a swing state so our votes do matter.

don’t call names to someone who is expressing his opinion without calling names himself. You don’t have to agree with him. If he wants to vote against Trump, the consequences are on him.

Enumerate Trump’s “mistakes” please! He secured the border, made our “allies” pay their fair share of their defense, made us energy independent, protected life, defeated the caliphate, and , perhaps most importantly, didn’t start any wars!

I agree with you that Trump did have a lot of good policies and he did a lot of good things for the Republican party during the good times. However, during the crisis, and especially after he lost the election, he showed himself to be a weak leader. His pettiness, meanness, personal attacks and other examples of pathalogical behavior are not worthy of a leader.

He lost in 2020. It is time to move on. We need somebody new, untainted who can help the Republicans win in the future. At this point Trump will be an albatross for the Republicans in 2024 if he is the nominee. I personally want to see the Republicans to do well but we need fresh blood. Somebody like DeSantis will fare much better than Trump. Hopefully we have younger and smarter Republicans at other levels to. If the Republicans keep on doing the same ole, damn things, Independents will keep leaning left. I will happily support mild Republicans but will vote Democrat over the likes of Trump.

Singed, as a right-leaning independent.

I do see your point. Trump is very controversial and some people can’t handle that so vote against anyone like that. DeSantis is smart and a good leader. He would appeal to the “suburban housewife” and others of that ilk. He doesn’t talk like Trump does and seems to get the job done for his citizens. He has a backbone. For years the Republican party has had no backbone at all! Fortunately we have some in the House and the Senate that do but they all should have a backbone and stand up for the American people for a change. Trump stands up for all of us and is a good example of that so he does need to be involved in some manner. I won’t vote for a socialist/democrat, I don’t care who they are or what they say. With few exceptions they can’t be trusted. Are they just bored so they have to try to change the system for something to do? Are they just so enamored with themselves that they think the rest of us are stupid and need them to tell us what to do? Are they just greedy for money and power? I don’t understand why they think socialism works as it never has – no, let me correct that – it works for those in power but not for everyone else.

The “reality,” whether you like it or not, is that the kung flu virus was released to fight Trump’s successful ecomonic polices, but more importantly, to enable/excuse mass mail out ballots in a deliberate attempt to defraud the American people and STEAL AN ELECTION.

The “reality,” which may be a bitter pill for YOU to swallow, is that communist china picked our American president, and that our presidential elections were STOLEN via election fraud by the global swamp.

The “REALITY,” which is obviously a very bitter pill for liars to swallow, is that ELECTION FRAUD and the theft of a country, a COUP, occurred because in REALITY, loser bejing biden couldn’t get himself elected dog catcher if his life depended on it.

FACE REALITY, *insanity squared.” YOUR SIDE KNEW THEY WOULD LOSE IN A LANDSLIDE and stole an election.

You are aptly named INSANITY SQUARED.” Only a totally insane MORON could even begin to believe that dementia joe “won” anything.

Trump is the greatest, most amazing president America ever had. END OF STORY. And the American people KNOW it and LOVE Trump for good reason.

You must be an insane squared little troll. Your pathetic post is nothing but lies and propaganda. Just admit your a treasonous little swamp rat and join your demoncrap swamp buddies out in the open.

I see you are here quite comfortable in your little eco chamber of AMAC. In the real World, people are moving left. I personally do not like this and hope that Republicans come up with a plan. But the Republicans’ only selling point is that they are not Democrats. When they get to power, they make plenty of mistakes and, over time, people move to the left.

I voted for Trump in 2020. But I know most of the moderates in real life who voted for Biden. Biden did not steal the election, he won it by 7 million votes. I don’t think he is a good President but I understand why people voted for him. I don’t know where you live but I live in a big city as most people do. Cities win elections. And most people in the cities lean to the left. Republicans need to have a strategy, they need to win people over with good ideas rather than just oppose the Dems.

I am not going to waste too much time debating with the likes of you. I already outlined my position and I see that I am not very popular here, which is fine. But, in the real world, people are still connected to the mainstream media, and they live in their reality. They are the majority and they are and will keep on going left unless the Republicans prove themselves to be a viable alternative.

I will see myself out. Y’all can wallow about how bad a President Biden is and how 2020 went down. Y’all can comfort each other in this little echo chamber but it is removed from the reality of the World. And it moves on. If Republicans keep doing things the way they had been, they are destined for extinction. Perhaps Trump was indeed the last Republican President. That’s not what I want to see but that’s how it’s going to be if y’all keep thinking and living in the 20th century. I am outta here. Peace.

Since you are so studious take a look at the election NUMBERS. Biden/Harris received more votes than Obama. The volume of ballots counted is so outrageous. They cheated when Hilary was running against Trump but they did not realize how many citizens LOVED his message and voted for him. 2020 election they double and triple cheated.

The real truth is that Americans must turn to the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Until America’s people do this, she will continue to decline into a ruined bloody war torn country regardless of which party is in power. May God have mercy on those who call on His holy name!!

The mainstream media with very few if any exceptions will twist and turn the words and ideas that oppose liberal/progressive ideology.
These media will take things totally out of context, going so far as to even make things up

President Trump was exactly who we needed. The election was stolen by cheating from the Democrats. Sorry but it is true. The ballot box stuffing, the Democrats running the observers off is real. Biden is illegitimate. Every policy and executive order he has burdened us with is illegitimate. We need to fix it.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I consider myself to be a pretty astute reader and I can see that your comments are an accurate depiction of what you think. I can easily spot a troll, and your post and responses are those of one who is legitimately concerned. You do not deserve the name calling aimed at you.

I too, am concerned about the ramifications of a Trump bid for 2024. Although I will be the first to tout President Trump’s many accomplishments while in office, I am quite sure that he could not win re-election. And that is the crux of the matter.

Republicans and Independents alike should keep looking for a candidate who is a proven leader and has the ability to unify this nation that has been fractured almost irreparably by the Left.

Governor Desantis is a likely candidate. He seems like a good man and his actions indicate that he is an authentic leader with the courage to be an unapologetic American.

The big question is: Will Trump and his supporters ever allow another candidate to emerge? Sadly, there is a good possibility that they will join the MSM and seek to destroy any other conservative who throws their hat in the ring for President in 2024. I hope I’m wrong about this.

I voted for DJT and have the MAGA hat. I am pleased with what he did while in office, in spite of the daily, unrelenting lies and sabotage of the Left and the mainstream media.

But I don’t think he is electable again. And we certainly will not survive as a free nation if the current administration, or one like it, takes the reins again in 2024.
